We've bought and sold several properties and used The Closing Specialists years ago with no problems. They are no longer the company they were then & we will not use them in the future. Thankfully, in this case we were the sellers, not buyers. In spite of The Closing Specialist believing there was an unpaid mortgage on the property we sold, they went ahead with the sale!? They only wanted $3,000 from us for escrow, which was no problem at all. Afterwards, we received several long phone messages from a woman (who sounded as though she were eating) telling us what we HAD to do because they were not going through the effort and money involved in doing it. (The sale was OVER-WE had no intention of doing anything.) She kept stressing that a particular attorney couldn't help US as there was a conflict of interest. We have an attorney and had no desire to use the one she kept referring to. A couple days later, the same woman left a message canceling the prior message. This happened a few times and we just ignored them, knowing by law they could not pursue an unpaid mortgage (which was, in fact, PAID) after 30 years. (Odd that I knew that and THEY didn't.) Eventually, we received another unprofessional message advising us that our $3,000.00 was being returned to us, which we knew was going to have to happen by law. All in all we found The Closing Specialist to be unprofessional, bordering on disgusting and would highly recommend others to just use an attorney for closings as we will be doing in the future. read more
