We really enjoyed the food; I was surprised the restaurant was not busier on a Sunday afternoon. Food: We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered -Five Spice Roasted Pork Bao, Honey BBQ Chicken Bao, Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Chicken and Mango Salad Service: The employees were friendly but not very attentive. Although the restaurant was not very busy, they did not check on us at all and never refilled the water glasses. Ambiance: Casual, bright space.

We had plans to walk up the whole main ave to check the town out on our first night, but Bamboo looked so much fun that we stopped immediately. Service was super friendly. We had a great server named Maria who chatted with us and gave us tips on the town. She also gave more service than were used to receiving in New Zealand, checking to see if we liked our food after we ordered and making sure we were good. The food was mostly a hit too. We loved the Korean fried chicken wings, and both Bao that we tried. The Bao is only served by the each, but each one is HUGE. Not like the typical small Bao we're used to getting in orders of 3 small sandwiches. The only miss was the Detox Turmeric Soup. The noodles and dumplings were good, but the broth had no flavor. It definitely was missing salt, and some kind of fat. I added a bunch of hot sauce and soy sauce to mine to make it a little more flavorful. Fortunately, everything else was so yummy that I would easily come back and try something else! We saw so many other delicious plates go out and wanted to try everything. The cocktail and wine list was good too. This is a great, hip place that would be perfect for a get together at night with your best mates, cocktails, and bites.

My wife had actually done a pickup order, and even with the vagaries of food lasting the travelling time, she couldn't speak highly enough of the drunken fish. Lots of parking. Welcoming. Distinctive decor. Prompt and unintrusive service, providing useful answers to our questions. We ordered a range of dishes and not a bad pick amongst them. Not cheap but worth it. It's all great but, weirdly perhaps, my bite of the night was the 'KFC' buns. That certainly put the fusion into Asian fusion. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

Of course it has to establish a good footing in the restaurant scene in this area. Give it time . Anyway, about our experience. We're not usually into the Asian Fusion cuisine, but then fusion dining overall we seldom if ever venture to. Part reason is the cost is high and i dislike eating a meal where the food only takes up half the plate. Makes me feel a bit like i am not getting my moneys worth. But in saying that the food was delicious! Our order consisted of the Market fish of the day yellow curry  (the fish being monkfish) with rotti , scallop salad & crispy eggplant washed down with a Brothers brewery lager. The order came out pretty quickly too. And like i said disregarding the portion size etc it was very delicious!. Top marks to the chef. About the service , it was top notch too from entry to exit. Faultless. Of note too is the decor, i really like the paintings on the walls and ceiling and the atmosphere within too. So overall i would recommend as long as you are willing to pay a few extra dollars and despite my tendency and reasons not to eat fusion cuisine i think it does definitely deserve 5 stars.

We arrived here around 2pm and caught the last tea tour and tasting (lucky us!!!). Our tour guide took us around the entrance of the tea estate, stopping by each statue to explain the history of tea. Personally, I had never really thought about what went into producing tea leaves so this was a great history lesson! At one point, we were even able to pick some tea leaves! For the tea ceremony/tasting, we were able to sample 5 different teas in a traditional tea ceremony serving. Our tour guide explained the proper way to pour tea with the perfect temperatures and soak times for each of the teas. We sample green tea, 3 oolong teas and an English breakfast black tea. Each had a story behind it and had their own intense tea flavor. After the tea tasting, we opted for the high tea time. This was the husband's first time doing high tea and he and I both absolutely loved it! For the price, the high tea was highly worth-tea. It came with 3 tiers of delicious small bites (7 savory and 4 desserts), and I enjoyed all except maybe 1 or 2 bites. Some of the bites included a teriyaki tofu cube, chicken empanada, shrimp and green tea cake. Each high tea also comes with a tea of your choice! I chose the Fire and Ice and it was quite refreshing. The service from the waitress, front desk staff and tour guide were all impeccable. Each person made you feel welcomed to ask questions and have a truly enjoyable experience. We actually came a bit late to our tour so missed the 10 minutes of video presentation in the beginning but our tour guide generously arranged for us to watch the video in a private showing after our tea tasting. This was fantastic customer service! Overall, this was a tea-lightful time for tea lovers all over the world! If you come, splurge and do high tea!

Unfortunately, there weren't tours operating when we visited, however, the wonderful hostess in the shop took quite a bit of time with us. She talked about the history, the tea making process, proper ways to brew different types of their teas, and we enjoyed a wonderful sampling. While I'm sure the tour is phenomenal, even this experience was fantastic. There are so many to love, but if we had to pick our favorites, it would be Zealong's Own Grey, Lady Gatsby, Fire & Ice, and Ice Breaker. This was for sure one of the highlights of our trip -- especially my wife, who is a tea enthusiast. We bought enough to fill a roll-aboard bag bag to take home. We order Zealong teas online whenever we can for shipment back to the USA.

The whole experience of dining at No. 8 has been designed specifically so our customers enjoy the chance to share each plate with friends, which enhances the experience rather than giving food envy. The decadent interior adds to the atmosphere making you feel like you've been transported somewhere exotic on holiday. Our staff are handpicked to make sure every meal you have here is unforgettable. The soft shell crab already has a reputation in Northland so we've added it to our menu along with an array of choices which include a wide range of gluten and dairy free options. Parking is pretty good that part of Parnell and so once we walked all the way into the depths of the building on the ground floor all was well. We were seated quickly, and had our waitress come with water and to answer any additional questions promptly. She recommended a number of sharing plates, which was fine by us as we thought that would probably be a good way to go anyway. We started off with some of the lotus chips which were awesome. We then received a selection of dishes including lamb short ribs, crispy pork ribs (a winner), supposedly very spicy bang bang chicken in lettuce cups (it wasn't that spicy but had a bit of kick and was delicious too), Crispy squid tentacles were also a popular choice. The kung pao soft shell crab was tasty but a bit small serving wise, and the dumplings all tasty too. The pork belly was average, nothing wrong with it but not a standout. My wife especially liked the slow cooked beef shin. Service was excellent, food was tasty and interesting, restaurant a little dimly lit but very cool nevertheless (perhaps better for dates than family dining but I'm being picky here). My only quibble is value, it's not bad value for money but it wasn't great value either. If it were slightly cheaper I wouldn't hesitate to score it 5/5. However, that is not a deterrent to me wanting to try the restaurant again, as the Rest of the package was all of a very high standard. We will be back for sure.

Has pretty much the most popular dish from each region. I went with the rule of don't try random stuff and go for the dish that's recommended. The beef noodle soup was for sure a good choice. The broth was hearty, hint of spiciness, good amount of noodles and thinly sliced beef. Very well cooked and essentially melts in your mouth.
