I was blown away with the beautiful grazing table that Joanna and her partner made for our destination wedding October 18. They delivered and assembled the spread at the location. We had a medieval/Renfair themed wedding, and she nailed the theme! The grazing table was decadent and full of delicious treats worthy of a King's Feast! She incorporated our decorations, and she had fresh flowers and greenery weaved in. All of it was beautiful! Definitely worth the price! The fruit was plump and fresh, the cheeses were unique, and the chocolates were to die for. Nothing went to waste! If I lived in the Schaumburg area, I would be working with Joanna for all my special events! read more

I've received trays from the Cheese Maven as gifts (see that Easter tray pic! CUTE!), and I've seen her at events too, like when the Cheese Maven did trays for a brewery event up in Ravenswood. These experiences have introduced me to so many new products! In that Easter tray, there was an incredible truffle honey on a rich blue cheese. One of the best things I've ever eaten! She's also great at accommodating dietary needs like GF, veg, etc. These trays go so above and beyond the basics. One of my friends used her for a wedding reception and it was a big success- everyone loved the veggie and fruit-forward approach, paired with thoughtful special cheeses for every taste. As a small business owner, I always try to support other small business. Despite referring the Cheese Maven to others in the past and having an average last experience, we hired the Cheese Maven again for an important company event this week. We contacted her early in the week and she let us know she was extremely busy so we would have to place an order quickly if we wanted to secure a spot on the schedule. We ordered 2 trays (not cheap at $350) and were expecting delivery Friday by 3pm for our 4pm event. Unfortunately, before noon on Friday, we received a text saying she couldn't fulfill our order because she had to pick up her step daughter and recommended another company...less than 4 hours before our 50 person event. Luckily for us we received the help of Mariano's who produced 2 beautiful trays at a 1/3 of the cost! In a service industry when people are paying top dollar an owner must have a backup plan. Also our trays should have been started by the time we were notified so none of it makes sense short of her being overwhelmed and not being able to complete ours. We can't imagine she canceled everyone's orders last minute. Obviously, we will not be using the Cheese Maven in the future. read more

Someone generous sent me and my fiance a cheese maven tray. These times (global pandemic) are so hard and exhausting and we can't go out for a date night. So we stayed in. IT WAS DELIVERED TO US!!! We ate cheese for dinner and had no regrets. The plate was gorgeous and delicious. MY only complaint was that I wanted to hide one of the cheeses and keep it only for myself to eat. Was so good.
