The Cheap Squad is AWESOME! i'm not just saying that to be nice. I arrived yesterday around 2:30pm to turn over a laptop that kept "blue-screening." Jeremy helped me out, informed me about their process, took my information, boom, i was in and out in about 10 minutes. Super friendly, fast service, but let's not speak too soon. A couple hours later, i had information I had forgotten to share with him and he replied in a couple of hours! Great! but still gonna hold out on the praise. Today, around 10 in the morning, Jeremy gave me a call and asked permission before he could install a few drivers. He let me know that it was included in the pricing, too (of course that's what many consumers want to know, will this affect the price! haha). I gave him the green light. Two hours later, he called and left a message that my laptop was ready to be picked up! YES! i'm quite happy! if it was an urgent matter for me to get my laptop fixed asap, Cheap Squad sure fulfilled that in less than 24 hours. Make sure you check in, you get 25% discount off virus removal. Also, park in the third street parking, they validate. Currently, they're located on the second story, but it's not difficult to find because they were smart enough to put signs for customers to find their way. They informed me they are looking to move downstairs where the tattoo parlor is at. Guess they'll do away with the signs then, hehe. FANTASTIC! My computer was running uber-slow, so I took it in after seeing other reviews on here. Although it's in a sketchy location, the service and quality was A1 top grade! They are super duper friendly and knowledgeable! They answered all my questions thoroughly and in language I could understand. In less than ONE DAY I got my computer back running even BETTER than it was when I bought it. So fast I couldn't believe it. Their prices are EXTREMELY reasonable. I paid only 1/3 of what Click Away charges (I used to use them, but Click Away has VERY poor customer service, quality and is EXTREMELY over-priced). Love them! Bunch of guys, but very professional, accomodating, and didn't give me a hard time for having no idea about computer hardware. The first guy I talked to over the phone was super cool, and understood what my computer needed, which was a replacement screen. Prices super reasonable, service was super fast. These guys are the best. We've had laptops, and game consoles repaired here and their service is top notch. They give a free estimate, their actual repair costs are super reasonable, and no charge if they can't repair it. It is in downtown San Jose, but parking is easy, just use the parking garage on 3rd street. They will give you a free parking validation. We've moved out of the area, but continue to drop things off with them to fix when we're back in the area to visit. I recommend them to all of our friends. read more

I had a Macbook Pro that died on me suddenly. It is out of warranty and Apple Store quoted $310 to replace the parts so I wanted to try other places that I assumed would be cheaper than Apple's retail. The Cheap Squad was my 2nd place to visit. First of all, that area of downtown San Jose isn't the best place to carry your $2000 computer around but that is beside the point. The person who took in the order said that the diagnostic would take a day, 2 days tops. After 3 days of not getting the call, I decided to call in and the technician said that they actually needed 3 days at least and had not looked at my computer yet but it was next on the list. I was quite disappointed with the turnaround because this is just the diagnostic, not even the fix. I really need my computer back for work -- been feeling dead unproductive without it. The next day, he called and determined that there was something wrong with the logic board, not quite sure what it is but it is not fixable. I was able to pick it up that day and there was no charge. So I gave 3 stars for a free diagnosis but it took a long time to determine that. I had to go back to Apple Store and eat that $310 charge. read more

My laptop had been making a lot of noise and getting really hot lately so I brought it in for a free diagnoses. They were quick and professional. A few days later I received a call from one of the guys who said that he ran my laptop all day and didn't really experience any problems. He said he didn't feel like this warranted the work they originally going to do. He told me that the problem is no where near as bad as most laptops that he's seen with similar issues. I came to realize that it might have been my laptop charger causing a problem, so I ordered another instead. I'm really thankful for his honesty. He could have easily just have told me I needed the clean up service and charged my for it. In the end, I received a free diagnosis and some advice for absolutely nothing. A great experience having my computer repaired. 1) They validate parking if you use the parking garage across the street. 2) The reviews here at yelp are high. 3) They offer a free analysis of your device, giving you a chance if you want a fix or not. 4) Staff is politely business-like and helpful. 5) They sometimes have used computers for sale. 6) Although some previous posts have indicated their prices had gone up, I found the price to be lower than expected as the problem was software. The second laptop I brought in was so far gone that they admitted the repair would cost more than the value of the machine - honest assessment. 7) They do what they say they will do. Well I had to go back again.....but it's just because of the good service and that I made the mistake of buying a HP computer. If you want straight talk , they are great....you have to realize that it may not always be good news but it's accurate.Sure you may not wanna hear your hard drive died but if that's what happened , that is what you want to hear. My PS3 was experiencing GPU problems which affected only 3D games. I live on the mid peninsula and took my unit to them for repair based on their reviews. They had some technical issues with the repair equipment and some communication issues which caused a significant delay. The bottom line was that these guys went above and beyond to ensure that I was a satisfied customer! I give 4 stars is only because of my personal experience with the delay which doesn't seem to have happened to anyone else. My laptop was splitting apart at the screen and keyboard due to a broken piece inside. Took it to them and they diagnosed the problem within 2 days and gave me a price which was reasonable. Excellent and affordable repair. Had the DC port on my Gigabyte P34 start to give out- it would stop charging if you looked at it wrong (seriously). Was thinking of trying to fix it myself, but the thing is soldered onto the motherboard and this is not a mainstream laptop. Took it in and got it fixed for a very reasonable price, and it was done in only 4 days. Staff was very courteous and knowledgeable, kept me up to date on the progress. My son's laptop fell and caused the issue for opening the screen. Gave the laptop for repair. They took the laptop for checking and called next day; and root caused the problem to fall and the missing screws my son forgot to put back. They also fixed the issue very quickly.
