No complaints here. Usually very little waiting, polite and caring staff, and with regular checkups. Thank you

I have not heard back from them yet as of April 10th, 2019 . I realize that she is a very busy Neurosurgeon... and hopefully will actually examine me ? I am referring to Dr. Mélissa R. I have had enough of waiting forever and it's been over a year and a half dealing with my Cervical Spinal Stenosis and Pain! Do I need to go to Congress to get something done - no, they are a bunch of children in Washington and play back and forth! ! Now I am sick to death of politics. But the health care system needs to be more efficient for people and especially if having major problems! Unbelievable how difficult it is for people and myself! Help me please ‼

My experience in the care of this practice was bizarre to say the least. Upon my first visit the…read morenurse who initially saw me suggested that the COVID vaccine causes or increases neurological issues, and that it was a bad idea for I, an immunocompromised individual, to get another booster. I was told this was apparently standard recommendation here. My mother was with me and we gave each other a "what the hell did we just hear?" look. It goes to reason that every other doctor recommends vaccination, especially for COVID, as COVID is aggressive and the long-term complications of it can be disabling, especially for those like me and other individuals with chronic neurological issues. When I'd reported this to my rheumatologist, she was startled, saying she'd recommended Counce for years, but with that revelation she completely stopped referrals to her. Dr. Counce herself seemed to be very detached and did not focus much time on me at all. I kind of felt like my symptoms were being ignored. She didn't seem to hold much emotion or care. When I moved to UAB Neurology for a second opinion on my spine MRIs, they poured over everything they could to try and find an answer for me, and despite coming up dry as well, I at least feel like they gave it a better shot in that one session as opposed to the multiple I saw Counce. In her defense at least, she did run tests on me and did not simply brush my case off right away like some doctors have. But after they found nothing from there, they weren't willing to dig deeper than those basic tests. At the time my condition had been presenting almost like a neurodegenerative disease or like a more subtle case of MS, so this was naturally crushing. I wish they had done more for me. I also cannot trust a doctor whose nurses actively recommend AGAINST a vaccine for an illness that kills and disables aggressively, especially when a lot of their patients would be highly vulnerable to that illness! It's a HUGE red flag to dissuade from the COVID vaccine, DOUBLY SO when it's coming from medical professionals.

Sleep apnea. You need to return calls as you so state…read more Took me 6 times to get a call back. Physician said he would call... never did. Office staff does not follow through. Waiting time in the Alabaster office is 45 to 60 minutes. Some patients had been waiting 2-3 hours in waiting area. Two patients left without seeing the doctor. My husband also sees Dr Goli and waited 2 hours for a seven minutes follow up office visit.

April 18, 2024…read more Yesterday I had a scheduled appointment with Dr. Sunil Goli (Southern Neurology) in Alabaster, Alabama. Dr. Goli is a neurologist with a specialty in sleep disorders. Although he has offices at the Grandview Medical Center and some rural offices, I prefer to go to his Shelby Baptist office. So, my comments are directed toward the Shelby office situation. My primary care physician recommended seeking sleep therapist and gave me two choice - Grandview and UAB. Geography ruled and I chose Grandview. The testing included an overnight stay using audio, visual, and other technical monitoring. Apparently, my condition was not good. The nurse made an appointment for me with Dr. Goli. Within 24 to 36 hours, I received a call from Dr. Goli himself confirming the technical analysis and suggesting that I see him earlier than the date scheduled by his nurse. That initial visit was eighteen months ago. Six months later I had another visit to his Shelby office. Today, after a twelve-month interval, I was scheduled for another in-person office visit - that was yesterday. Between yesterday's scheduled visit and the six-month visit, however, I had one online medical "visit," which went well because he was there and I was there, both of us on time. The three in-person office visit experiences over the eighteen-month span contribute to this observation of Dr. Goli's "office procedures" and thus his patient care. In each of the three Shelby office visits, and after being escorted to an examining room by a staff member, I waited for more than sixty minutes before the good doctor showed up - except for yesterday. After seventy minutes of uninformed waiting, I departed. I never saw Dr. Goli but, more accurately, he did not show up in a timely manner to administer medical care. My complaint is not about his medical credentials - I checked those prior to my first visit. Medical competence is not in question. What is, especially to me and perhaps any other patient-in-waiting, is when will the physician honor the appointment time? On my first visit I waited, and the doctor eventually spent about twelve minutes with me, consulting after having a resident physician tag along with Dr. Goli as the resident's mentor. That was an awful experience, so awful that I wrote a commentary on YELP. After a couple of days, I had misgivings and removed my commentary because I thought that it was just a momentary anomaly. That removal, as it turns out, was a mistake. So here again am I and with no regrets. My observation is that Dr. Sunil Goli does not manage his office well - or he does not manage the staff well - or he does not know how to manage - or he has outsourced the management of his office to a third party. One would think that after 70+ minutes of waiting, a staff member would come to the room and tell the patient that "The doctor will see you shortly, he's running long." Or something like that. But no. Just silence or perhaps even indifference. I understand the variable of time when a physician goes from room to room to visit with his patients. He has his time limitations and patients have theirs. The common courtesy of information about the doctor's apparent tardiness could have and probably would have altered my decision to depart when I did. Nevertheless, Dr. Goli is the responsible person, not his staff. Since this office's normal routine has revealed a history of that which I cited above, one can assume that without any outside management consulting intervention this kind of office practice will continue indefinitely unmodified. Respectfully, WENjr
