Very cool speakeasy located in the basement of the Omni Mount Washington Resort. We enjoyed great live music and terrific drinks while visiting. Comfortable seating areas to enjoy the entertainment. Disappointed that the second visit didn't include entertainment. Arrive early and don't forget your ID.

The Cave is a neat little speakeasy located in the basement of the Omni Mount Washington Hotel. The atmosphere is nice and depending on the night you visit it could be a relaxing drink or a toast over some lively live music. We experienced both and was glad we did. If your staying at the hotel you have to stop by even just to check it out and have a drink.

We stayed back in March for an early anniversary, and we loved The Cave. Best gin drink I've ever had. Can't wait to go back!

Absolutely terrible service and miserable drink selection. Rude to our entire party. Disappointing for such a historic hotel.

We got: HOT PRETZELS Two oversized pretzels served with beer cheese and Tuckerman's mustard. The pretzels were so good that I devoured the first one immediately and had to order a second before the meal was even over. They had a perfect golden crust with a warm, soft center, and the mustard was incredibly flavorful. Truly the best hot pretzel I've ever had. HARVEST SALAD A fresh, vibrant mix of arugula, spinach, strawberries, pickled peaches, blueberries, red onion, and sunflower seeds topped with grilled chicken and dressed in a maple lemon vinaigrette. The fruit added brightness, the pickled peaches gave a fun tangy twist, and the vinaigrette tied everything together with a sweet citrus finish. Light, but satisfying. CLAM CHOWDER Creamy and comforting with tender clams, served with oyster crackers and a drizzle of parsley oil for freshness. A classic New England bowl done really well. A wonderful lunch with generous flavors and unforgettable views of the mountains. Rosebrook Bar was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a truly memorable meal.

UNIQUE and appreciated. My husband's filet dinner was PERFECT. Super tender, lovely seasoning/sauce, divine pureed potato side, garlic mushroom bowl on the side. My roasted halibut was just okay, though I was coming from Boston and Maine so the fish just wasn't what I'd want in general vs those spots. Also they put it on a small "puddle" of sweet corn puree which really should be served OVER it as sauce to counter the dry plain fish. I liked the roasted okra but it, along with the bacon tidbits sprinkled around, they were a strange afterthought and the "blistered" herb potatoes were bland and just mush like not even as good as a breakfast potato. If I were the chef, I'd nix the potato and do a saucier puree with the corn and/with bacon OVER the dish and do a more fun flavorful (not an afterthought) veg like a green or a roasted asparagus, crisped Brussel sprout side. The mushy potato was a THROW AWAY and the bacon tidbits like bacon jerky cut with a kitchen scissor sprinkled around in some 1990s plating presentation. This whole thing could be a better incarnation of the dish! Truly.

They also sent a birthday coupon which provided incentive. Their beers are varied and very good; food is not your typical brewery pizza and pretzels. Seated right away. Good enough atmosphere. It's not Bailiwicks, but good enough... Their bar area is super lively, I like it a lot. We both *don't* love the one and only, unisex bathroom that is always out of hand soap and not always super clean (according to Boyfriend who had to lift the seat.......). They need to keep an eye on that... Waitress was ok. A very loud talker. Food was amazing! I had both their "specials" - the fiddle heads appetizer and the Lamb chops... which were also served with fiddle heads, and a delicious risotto (I didn't realize the lamb was also served with fiddle heads, if I had, I would have tried a different appetizer - but that's my fault because I'm sure she must have mentioned it). Everything was amazing. Lamb was so tender and perfectly flavored. Boyfriend had the hanger steak and duck fat fries and loved it too. Says it's some of the best fries he's had! I'm not much of a dessert person but I like trying stuff at restaurants where I know it will be homemade. I had some whipped cream and butterscotch dessert and it was great - couldn't finish as I was full, but no regrets. We will be back! I love that their menu changes seasonally, it keeps things very interesting.

I decided to drive down from Montreal by myself. Ladies, never hesitate to take the solo road trip when you get a chance :) I had an awesome time! I had not done a solo visit to Schilling since 2018 and was a bit nervous about it being awkward, but it wasn't at all. Schilling is a good spot if you are by yourself (and are the sociable type). I spoke to many very friendly and nice people and Jeremy the bartender looked after me very well. And since I had no pesky Boyfriend getting bored (he doesn't like craft breweries, lol), I was able to try many different beers throughout the afternoon & evening - Vorhe, Schlaumieir, Betula, Combover, Ponyhawk, and Kinsman (thanks for the recommendation on that one - it's a new fave!) Great atmosphere for Annafest with live outdoor music, delicious foods and beautiful weather by the river. I'll be back soon and can't wait for Oktoberfest in a couple months!
