A wonderfully whimsical old school tuck shop with a new school twist!…read more I was a big fan of the burgers, but they also have a delightful selection of baked goods (helloooo dougnuts and freakin' redskin chocolate brownies!). They also do milkshakes that come in an amazeballs range of flavours including NUTELLA and SALTED CARAMEL (allcaps added for excitement)!! The team behind Tuck Shop have some serious fine food chops that include The Fat Duck and Attica, so you know you are in for a treat. They keep the offerings simple but of such a high standard, I ate myself into discomfort because I wanted more!

One meat and one veggie option, so keeping it simple, which I love. The meat option is excellent and great value at $10 (extra $2 for bacon which is a bit steep for one tiny bit of bacon, but it's with including). Burgers are cooked so they are pink in the middle and it's an excellent, tasty burger. Chips are ok, a bit greasy and drowning in oil, but tasty. Drinks are overpriced... But also excellent. We had the mintie milkshake and wow it was good. Not cheap at $7 a pop. But good enough that we would try another flavour next time. Fantale perhaps?! I had a raspberry soda and while it was super delicious it was quite small and $4.50 was pretty steep. We will be back again, but a lost star for the price of drinks. The jaffels looked amazing so the cost won't keep me away though! Well worth a visit if you're local.

I was pretty excited to check this one out. Had driven past it a few times at night. The setup? A…read more50s 60s 70s themed american diner. Quite well done if you ask me. I really liked the small jackets as chair covers. And parking meter and bowling pins on booth edges. Anyway onto the menu... the burgers are names of cars. There's also a hot dog section as well. I ordered the Jeep for the double patty melted cheese and caramelised onion... took a few seconds to plan my culinary attack... gave up after 2 seconds and chomped away! IMHO... it wasn't that great. More like 2.5 stars than 3. It's very high in salt content. All of it. The bacon, patty and the sauce was a bit of over kill. It started falling apart mid way and had to change tactics.. flipped it on to the top of the bun as base. It wasn't the size of it that got to me rather than the saltiness. The burger itself is not complex and does not have a "wow" factor. Well none after the initial awe due to size. Basic white large bun, 2 decent sized patties, albeit quite salty. Bacon .. not crisp.. melted cheese caramelised onions and loads of BBQ sauce. Reminds me a lot of what you could expect at a sausage sizzle .. less the size and double patty. You can make up ur own mind I guess .. as for me......

Forget the name of the burger I had, double dodge maybe. OMG it was the best burger I've ever had,…read morethe beef patty was mouth watering juicy! I had a late lunch and could barely finish it, but I forced myself because I could not watch myself waste such a delicious burger! As Molly Meldrum says do yourself a favour and check out this joint!

Confession: I can be selfish sometimes. When I find a new place that's amazing, but pretty small, I…read morehesitate to share it. When everyone knows just how incredible the burgers are here, I may never get to devour one again (I hate long lines). But this ain't about me. It's about the crew at Changz and the magic they're making on that grill, and how they should be richly rewarded for it, packed with hungry customers who become raving fans, and this ultimately leads to more Changz Canteens to meet the demand. And when (not if) that happens, we all win. Here's what you need to know. The burgers at Changz are delicious, perfectly sized and cooked, customizable in a bunch of ways (add more patties, bacon, chicken, etc.), toasted bun, and you will be sad after taking that last bite because it's gone now. Sad in the very best way, with burger joy in your gut. Perhaps also due to their excellent skinny Maccas-style french fries and/or a $5 can of good beer. Total for two world-class burgers, two beers, big ol' basket of fries was around $30. Slam dunk. The servers are friendly and efficient, interior fits around 40 people and a couple sidewalk tables make room for more. Get here before 7pm, on a Saturday anyway, and your night is off to an excellent start -- just like Changz itself. Patronize the hell outta this place, the good way, and let's all revel in this new burger brilliance!

Changz Canteen opened its doors in December 2015…read more You may recognise the name Changz, his hot sauce it taking Melbourne by storm and is popping up in nearly every top burger joint. He was also the head chef at Easey's when they first opened. Knowing the burgers were top notch the last time he cooked me up the storm, I knew before heading to Changz Canteen that this burger was going to be up there with the best. The soft buns, the melt in your mouth patties, the juicy chicken, crunchy bacon and a nice kick with their house made chilli sauce, this burger was exactly what I was expecting. The best thing about this burger is it actually had no salad, it had the basics and they were done right. Changz Canteen is the perfect addition to Elsternwick, there isn't a whole lot of choice in the area in terms of burgers and being walking distance from Caulfield Grammar I am sure the kids will be packing this place after school. Make sure Changz Canteen is your burger list. It is a place definitely worth a visit.

There was really just one note, just sweet. It's creme in a donut style bun and on a plate of bananas, figs, honey comb, caramel, honey, pistachio, edible flowers. But there was no balance just sweet on sweet on sweet. Fearing this I ordered smoked salmon just to have a bit of salt. The dish was visually amazing but it was hard to eat and I couldn't finish it. I love the idea but just needed something. Even if the pistachios were salted that would have helped. I get what these guys are trying to do but it just want for me.

The newest opening comes from the team behind powerhouse cafes Short Straw, Touchwood and Tall Timber and resides in dreamy Carnegie. Located on an street corner in a mostly residential area, Left Field brings it to life with good quality food and coffee and accompanying crowds. It actually took two attempts in the weekend after opening to get a table. Left Field takes on one of the signature design trends of white walls, light timber and exposed light bulbs which offers a clean, open and modern atmosphere. A dark-toned tile mosaic behind the counter area and a scattering of potted plants throughout the cafe add a touch of colour. Seating is a mixture of small tables and booths inside and the same outside along the length of the white painted brick exterior. The food menu, as the name might suggest, is a little left field with Middle Eastern influences. Highlights include the Smashed peas bruschetta, Beetroot cured ocean trout and the Supergreen tacos. The braised Moroccan lamb shoulder with pistachio, cranberry and quinoa tabouleh, feta, green chermoulah dressing and garlic yoghurt. Presentation was a little surprisingly with fine dining-like styling. The lamb shoulder was tender and juicy with an exciting flavour combination provided by the rubbed spices and the fruity tabouleh. Gluten free, dairy free and nut-containing dishes are highlighted for those with dietary requirements. Coffee is from Niccolo with a blend and single origin espresso and filter options. Soy and almond milk is available. There is also a range of teas, soft drinks and cold pressed juices. Service is like clockwork, especially during the busy opening period. Left Field brings a touch of the city cafe culture to the outer south eastern suburbs and is sure to be a local favourite.
