It is a fine place, too, for senior citizens who wish to retire and no longer carry the burden of a full home. (It also has superb facilities for those who can no longer care for themselves even in a senior community setting.) I've several clients who have chosen Spanish Cove, and all (yes, ALL) have been exceptionally pleased with the quality of life it offers its residents. Just terrific!

I was led on that this would be the only facility that would be available for my mother because she does not have a retirement. She only has social security and this was the only facility I knew of. I heard The sports animal do remotes from here and thought it would be good. My wife and I toured the facility and were told that it would not be over$750 for my mother to live there. We questioned it multiple times really this is all for room and meal plan. We were told it was an apartment and my mother would be able to keep her vehicle and come and go as she wished. Angela Howard threw in on the third meeting after paperwork is done that there is a required vendor fee. That her monthly would be over $1000. I can't stand lying by omission, but as long as the sales tactics work, why change it. My gut feeling was this could be a very bad thing, but I have to what's in the best interest. We get her moved in and the lady across the hall his quarantined for bed bugs. When we moved my mother in she had to quarantine for a new member because of Covid-19. Not a problem, other than they wouldn't let her leave because they made us understand that this was their policy. I ensured that everyone in our family, especially the over 55 had their vaccine and boosters. We followed every rule and my mother ended up with Covid-19. They locked the entire place down because there was multiple cases. (2). I was mad because she was in her room and not communicating with anyone except her med techs. She ends up with Covid-19. They said we had to have given her it because they rooms were isolated. I thought what what what?!?!? They have separate hvac units. They units open into a communal hallway and There is gap in the door to the main hall. This room is not isolated. The CDC had removed contact tracing at this point but I firmly believe that Yvette (the person in charge of medical) goes to her room tells her she has Covid-19 a week after they did the test. So before I could inform my mother not to let them call anyone she allowed her to call my aunt and she hounded her about her being over the Covid-19 after her 2 weeks of quarantine that she received from her grandson's funeral. Because of this my aunt refuses to visit my mother and my plan of her being able to see family and friends is out the window. So at this point my mother is quarantined for 4 weeks after moving in January 24. Not once did I hear from the facility at all. The pattern of how they care for residents is starting to show. When she was finally off of quarantine and a second lock down we are at 6 weeks of isolation for the elderly. I finally was able to take her to the store and to dinner. Angela said we would be able to come and go because this is her apartment and she can be out as late as she wants or leave as early as she wants. On this night I picked her up about 6pm took her to dinner and Walmart and had her back at 8:50. I try to respect my mother does not stay out late or up too late. We have to ring the bell. The med tech could see us at the door and that we were pounding on it. I tried calling on my cell phone and we kept ringing the bell. It has happened multiple times and I get the same run around that the phone system is messed up. When my mother had been quarantined for the 3rd time because, as I was told we just observe and make up what we want to ensure the facility is safe. The mental health and stability is left to people that are only for federal money. They also do not hold their end up on the lease agreement but DEMANDS residents adhere to the lease agreement. That is however only when it will be beneficial to John the owner. I'm hoping this will help others needing a place for mom and dad but can't afford a traditional assisted living. There is actually multiple facilities in the metroplex for families that need support.

My mom is a resident at Meadowlakes Estates. She is in hospice care. The Director Antoine is an…read moreoutstanding administrator. He has improved the facility from top to bottom. The remodeling provides an inviting welcome to all visitors. The resident rooms are much improved from the previous director. The nursing and support staff with one exception works to provide the best care possible for my mom and her suite-mate. She has been at Meadowlakes Estates since 2018. They respond to request and are very attentive to her needs. The attitude of the staff is positive with a can do spirit. There is no perfect senior care facility, but this staff that cares for my mother strives to reach the goal of excellence. My 95 year old mother is pleased with her care except they don't always season the food the way she did when she was preparing our meals.

Do not move here if you are a non-smoker. The lease states that it is a non-smoking facility, and…read morethe manager does not enforce that policy. If you complain about smoking in the building, the management will conspire to isolate and intimidate you. I have lived here for a little over a year, and it is the most miserable year of my life. I am allergic to tobacco and have had headaches and burning in my eyes, throat and lungs, and a constant hacking cough. About half the time I sleep in my car to avoid the smoke. I have contacted HUD and the Health Dept, and neither will do anything to help me. I live on Social Security and have to have low-income rent. I have applied to several places that offer that, but the waiting list is long. Do yourself a favor, and avoid making the mistake I made by believing the manager Kathy Pitt.

Oklahoma City as a cautionary tale to whomever may entertain the idea of placing a loved one, or…read moreeven a liked one, in this facility. I relate my experience with the Southridge Place Assisted Living Community in In August of 2018, I was informed that my father, a 77 year-old Army veteran, after suffering a fall, was being discharged from a rehabilitation center and required a living situation where nursing care and assistance were available. I, being unfamiliar with the nursing home INDUSTRY, and with a sense of urgency and impetuousness conducted cursory research with several assisted living facilities. After speaking with the "Community Relations Manager" (read: salesperson - much like a car lot salesperson) I settled upon Southridge. The salesperson used the term "private pay", and in my naivete' assumed that this meant that my father's health insurance would utilized to pay for his expenses since he was covered. NO, "private pay" is a euphemistic way to say 100% out-of-pocket. And, with his room (one status up from the bottom) was $2, 850 per month. Add $56 a day for Level 4 care equals $4, 530 per month. ALSO, Southridge charges a one-time "Community Fee" of $3,200 (which mercifully can be divided into three installments). Now, if you are questioning what is a "Community Fee", it is a charge for upkeep of the facility, most notably the exterior which I never saw any of the residents outside enjoying the manicured lawns nor the structure's exterior decor. This being the case, I can only surmise that "Community Fee" is for advertising for visitors and potential residents. As I stated earlier, I was unfamiliar with the term "private pay" and was under the impression that the facility would be making a claim for expenses through my father's health insurance company. I was informed by one of Southridge's personnel that my father's insurance company had denied their claim. Now, keep in mind that Southridge is 100% out-of-pocket, so why would they bother calling the insurance company. Upon further reflection, I called my father's insurance company and was notified by their customer service representative that there had been no action initiated by Southridge with regards to my father's policy. Very suspicious! It would safe to presume that they had LIED to me. I had always made myself available to the staff, and kept lines of communication open, so there were multiple opportunities to inform me of the payment misunderstanding. The second-to-last insult, (after paying multiple $50 late fees) was that Southridge was going to evict my father. With all deliberate haste I relocated my father to more accommodating environs. My father vacated on the 15th of the month, and since he had paid through the end of the month, reasonable people conclude that he is owed a refund for the two remaining weeks. That was not to be. The ENLIVANT CORPORATION, with which Southridge is a network affiliate, cited THEIR policy in issuing me and father 25% of the remaining room charges of which my father received no benefit since he was no longer a resident. Needless to say, I was outraged and contacted their accounting office to appeal this decision and was assured that this issue was being forwarded to regional management; I have heard NOTHING in over two weeks. Currently, I have contacted, and am contacting the Oklahoma State Ombudsman's office, Better Business Bureau, Department of Veteran's Affairs, and I feel that I would not be amiss in speaking with my state representatives about this experience. Our loved ones deserve to be treated fairly, and not be drained of their resources for which they have labored so hard throughout their lives to accumulate, nor to be taken advantage of. These people are in the sunset of their lives and have earned the right to live free from intimidation, and with respect. I hope that this lengthy missive will give you pause, and to be circumspect and inquisitive if you are considering ANY assistive living or nursing home facilities. My mission is to give my experience with Southridge Place to any, and everyone I meet.

My mother in law was at this assisted living for almost 2 years. The staff never kept my husband…read more(POA) informed of her health. He would ask and get the run-around "Oh, her nurse isn't available right now". Two days after my mother in law died (at the facility) my husband came to get some of her belongings. Within the first 5 mins of him being there the DON Joy came to my husband with a bill from the pharmacy (not related companies) and informed him that he needs to take care of this now. In my point of view this was very unprofessional. They also told my mother in law there would be transportation to doctor appointments but that was never provided to her (she had to call a cab). The staff was taking her bank card and going to the ATM (over $800 withdrawn from her account in one month). Please think twice about putting your loved one in that assisted living.
