Seriously, Leura Candy store has a mind-haze inducing array of sugary treats from endless jars of boiled lollies and weirdly shaped jubes (hello kitties, fried eggs) to nostalgic throwbacks like Parma Violet lollies (very Ivy Compton-Burnett) and candy corn. Almost tempted by Magic Gum equivalent myself, just to reminisce back to 3rd grade. Almost, but not quite.
They stock a bunch of lollies and treats from all over the world, so if you know a tourist or expat with serious Hershey syrup or L&P cravings, they should have it covered. Also a lot of that Dutch salt liquorice that apparently some people are able to ingest. It's a great place for humourous eavesdropping too. The other day a young woman shot down the suggestion from her partner with a repressive 'You can get THAT from Coles.' I think she was considering some Polish Luxury Fudge.
