He will tell you he is a licensed contractor but he is not! He only has an LLC to do repairs not remodels. We hired Douglas to do a kitchen remodel and he and his crew were absolutely horrible. They left messes, destroyed our lawn, were extremely unprofessional and actually yelled at me when I asked a problem that they created to be fixed. Instead of leveling our floor, they laid tile on a floor that had a 2 in slope to it. Our cabinet guy had to build one side of the cabinet 2 inches higher than the other just to make it level. After we asked him to correct the issue, his solution was laying tile on top of the tile he had already laid to try to make the floor level. As you can imagine, this made the problem worse. And as if it couldn't get worse, we found out that he wasn't paying his subs. Our cabinet guy threatened to take a mechanical Lien out on our property if he didn't get paid. Did Douglas man up and do the right thing? I'm sure you guessed, no. His solution was to completely abandon the job after not completing any of the work we paid him to do. He stopped answering our calls, wouldn't reply to emails, and never showed up to get any of his stuff. We Even tried serving him with a default letter and he has evaded us for months. BEWARE! Do not get sucked in by his " charm". He wants your money and that's it. There were many red flags that we ignored and we paid the price for it. We are just now getting things finished and he walked off the job in March. It took so long because no other contractors wanted to touch his horrible work.

Communication was great, every time I called he either picked up the phone or called me back quickly, he was always so patient explaining what was needed and why. All of them went beyond what was expected or required. The materials they used were top quality so that I would never have another problem. The tile was laid so beautifully and much of the floor had to be laid down one piece at a time. The frame is so expertly mitered and joined. They cleaned everything up perfectly afterward. I had hired this contractor to renovate my house and add a detached garage. I had assumed a…read moreconstruction loan for this project which would not pay until an invoice was sent, and an inspection was completed. I had to pay for each inspection individually. Me being a contractor, in a different field, had knowledge of the proper order of procedure for this project to be completed properly. In the initial meeting, addressing the issue of a dip in the floor was my main concern. I was assured that it was no problem. When it came time to the actual repair, he told me that he did not know how to fix it. So, I had to fix it myself. Also, I had to go back over his extremely shotty workmanship on the sheet rock, the painting, and the plumbing as he continued to drag his feet through this project over an 8-month period. He constantly wanted me to pay him before the actual payment was sent from the lender. Which I did to help him out because of his lack of funds. Big red flag! He was unable to keep the proper information and paperwork to the lender, in a timely manner, to keep the payments flowing. Needing to move back in, I worked nights and weekends, in the house, to get it to livable conditions. I paid his last invoice of nearly 12,000.00 and have not been reimbursed from the lender because of his lack of completion of just the renovation itself. After being ghosted for a couple of months, he finally responded with a text stating that it was too much of a hassle to send invoices and have his work inspected before payment. The garage was never even started. I have wires for the exterior lights hanging out of my house. I tried my best to help this fellow to complete this project by buying and delivering materials, cleaning up his constant messes, going over his work, paying him out of my pocket, and being patent with his procrastination of completing just the renovation. I hope no other homeowner has to go through this. Beware!
