Everyone there has been super friendly and the messages are always awesome, super encouraging as well as having a live pastor teaching each week and a live band. The nice thing about that is that you can get to know the people who are making this church possible. I've been to the Sandy location and love it as well. The downtown Salt Lake location is in a more industrial place so be on the look out! It is right near Cosset's warehouse; (which I didn't even know the company had a warehouse!) Anyways hopefully that makes it easier to find and check out. The downtown location has a 10am service and a 5pm service. It's nice because you can go to the evening service if you are out enjoying summer while you can or if you like to sleep in or brunch on Sundays. :-)

There are different ways to worship-some people are reverent and subdued, others are enthusiastic…read moreand boisterous. That's the wonderful thing about people, we are each unique and when we come together with like-minded individuals, you magnify what you have in common. I'm not an overly boisterous person, nor am I religious, but I'm always curious and fascinated to learn about humans in general. So this Easter Sunday, I visited the Calvary Baptist Church to participate in services. The group was just as I hoped-energetic, enthusiastic and welcoming. The music was terrific-a combination of a gospel choir as well as a few musical acts performed by different youth groups. The songs were not the traditional mild Christian music, but very upbeat and fun; I found myself clapping along. The Reverend was powerful and shared a good message. Regardless of your personal beliefs, I'm sure that some-or all-of his message would resonate with people.

Everything was decorated beautifully for this special service. There's a rich heritage to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church! In 1890, Sister Emma Jackson led a small group of African American women in prayer. This church was established in 1892 out of someone's home and in 1898, they moved into a house of worship on West Temple Street. As the congregation grew, so did their house of worship. Fast forward to 1996, through the power of prayer and God's blessing, they now worship in a beautiful 47,000 square feet building on 2.5 acres of land. Their first worship service at this location was October 7, 2001. Congratulations Reverend Dr. Oscar T. Moses for starting your pastoral service here on January 1, 2020! The worship team is phenomenal. Thank you Joe B. for recommending that we check it out. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

They have a heart to show Gods children the true love of the Jesus of the Bible and encouraged bold worship, evangelism and real relationship with God and His people. We have four children, ages 4-14 and love the fun, scriptural and interactive lessons our kids get in sunday school class and the newly starting Crew class for middle schoolers. The worship is honest and has one goal: to meet God and see him lifted high. The word is solid and bold - and the fact that Pastor Jason is very easy to listen to and a great speaker (among others) is a plus! And last but not least, the coffee is good! Amen. For me it's obvious that Courageous Church has a desire to see the people of Salt Lake City come to know Jesus relationally through worship, foundational teaching and prayer and in turn fosters a community where you can encounter and meet God in new, bold ways you didn't think possible. After are, we are called to be a Courageous people! I for one have grown for the better because of the people God put in my life through Courageous Church. Come join us!

The cantor and organ are beautiful sounding and they lean towards more ancient and traditional catholic music and that is the reason I like to come here.
