Waitrose is often known as a supermarket for the rich and the upper class, and although richer…read morepeople tend to shop here, including the Queen of England, it isn't that high end supermarket it is made out to be, in fact it is made out to be a high end jewelry or a suit joint, which is by appointment only, but anyone can waltz on in to Waitrose, and their pricing is competitive. This store is fairly large, with a great selection for gluten free, products include nearly a full isle of non-frozen goods, including own branded items and even branded items, such as a large Schar Selection and Walkers Shortbread, most of the items here are very nice and hard to find elsewhere, which certainly beats a small selection of terrible products, which supermarkets such as Tesco knows a lot about! Waitrose have a loyalty card system, which is also quite rewarding with a free newspaper once you spend 5 pound on a weekday (or £10 on a weekend), as well as a free hot drink every day, without having to spend a penny. This store also has scan as you shop facilities, however they is only limited devices, and you do need the full size Waitrose card to use it, instead of a key fob, which is a little frustrating, compared to Tesco where you can use a key fob, a large card or even your phone! The staff here seem quite nice and helpful, even though they did end up voiding the transaction, as I went on a "card only" till, hoping to pay cash, instead of moving the transaction onto another till, but it barely set me back a minute. As mentioned above, the pricing here is competitive and the range for certain items, especially gluten free is great, stocking some great products, other supermarkets simply don't, making the range here much better of a considerably larger branch of another supermarket. They is also quite a nice cafe with some interesting teabag flavours here, but this cafe is mainly for cakes and hot drinks, although it is a nice place to sit in and work, while grabbing your free coffee or tea for being a loyalty card holder! This is quite a nice supermarket, but due to some flaws mentioned with scan as you shop and the experience at the till, as well as it being quite hard to find from Sheffield city centre, especially for non-locals, I feel I can only give 3 stars to this store, but it just proves why Waitrose is one of the best supermarkets for gluten free.

I shop at Waitrose Sheffield because it is very local to me as well as the free coffee. But what I…read morewanted to say is that the staff here in Sheffield their attitudes are great (for the customer) and they all have a good sense of humour, (Which is needed at times. KEEP ON GOING WAITROSE SHEFFIELD, YOU PROVIDE A GREAT SERVICE!

Have I mentioned that I love finding new grocery stores. So I hadn't found an Asian…read more.. specifically Chinese food store since we moved to the other side of the Pennines. I have to say that I was a bit spoiled with Chinatown in Manchester. But I was thinking that with all of the international students, including a huge number of Chinese students in Sheffield, surely there are some Chinese food stores. I found a few, but decided this is the one I wanted to try. There is a small amount of parking within their gates. It kind of looks a bit like a factory, but don't be intimidated... go in! They have baskets that you can wheel around or ones that you can carry. It is a sizeable store with fresh produce, frozen items, a bakery, and cooked meats. If you go past the tills you'll find yourself in front of the wholesale area. Who needs Costco! I came with a list, but let's just say it was a bit of a guideline. What I think some people fail to appreciate about these stores is that they can often find their basics... especially spices for cheaper than the chain supermarkets. In fact, we did the majority of our shop here, the only things we couldn't get were cat food, cat litter, and hot dogs. They also sell plates, pots, bamboo steamers, chopsticks, rice cookers, etc. I have my eye on one of the rice cookers... so I'm sure we will be back. I have to say that the selection of Filipino items was larger than I expected, but the items weren't necessarily the things I need when I make Filipino food. I was the most impressed by their bakery and the meat section. I picked up a package of Custard Buns as well as Char Siu Buns. You can get cooked Duck, they even have containers of Char Siu! We had the Char Siu Buns as a snack and they were heavenly! I should mention that the store doesn't make them, but I appreciate that they import them from Manchester :) Mr. Snarky has never had these before and really enjoyed them! Overall a good experience and I'm sure I'll be back soon!
