A bunch of friends and I went for my roomie's bday. He loves boobs more than any other gay man I…read moreknow, which is a lot of gay men...But I digress. We were curious how this older, more established club would stack up to some of the other ones we'd been to in the area.
It wasn't packed when we arrived around 9:30pm on Saturday (that's pretty typical). Even still, the ring of tables closest to the stage was taken so we had to snag a couple farther in the back. It isn't a huge place so this wasn't a big deal, but it definitely took some of our focus off the ladies which did not go unnoticed. But I'll get back to that later...
The good:
a) The ladies here are gorgeous. All different races, body types, styles, etc but all beautiful
b) Super talented performers. You want to see two strippers circling around the same pole with one hanging from the other's arm? This is the place. All the girls but one did pole work, and most were really, really good doing the crazy, seemingly death-defying stuff you see on the movies.
c) The girls on stage were very active with patrons, doing a lot of interaction, both verbal and physical. Most of the girls seemed to be having a really good time (or at the least were not dead-eyed and miserable) and really into their craft. I get this is just a job and the ladies are "expected" to all be nice, friendly and energetic 24/7 but I was really impressed with how well they worked the crowd and how much love they gave to the few up there when it was slow (especially the ladies like muah). Some places you can tell the girls are really hating it, whether it's irritating patrons, low turn out, crappy management, etc.
d) The food was AWESOME. Yes, seriously. Super cheap too. We got wings, fries, burgers, chicken fingers, etc and all of it was super tasty.
The meh:
a) The dj doesn't know how to use a mic, or it needs updating. 90% of what he said was unintelligible, so we couldn't tell what girls he was announcing.
b) the Egyptian theme is what it is. But the random corner with the pool table, the flat screen tvs playing UFC, infomercials and random tv shows full of dead, stuffed animals was....interesting.
The bad:
There were four couples and the bday boy and while we didn't go to the stage a ton, mostly because we were having a killer time chatting, eating, drinking, etc, we definitely spent a good amount of cash. It was a $10 a piece cover (so they made $90 off us literally just walking in the door), plus 5 of our party ordered food, some multiple items, and every single one of us got at least one drink, some several. Drinks are $7 for a beer or cider, more for shots and mixed drinks, so definitely not cheap. We tipped with each purchase. Shoot, I even tipped the girl at the bar who got me a straw and singles for my $20 to tip the dancers.
First, we had one of the girls who walk the floor come over and sit down with us. She was clearly...not sober. Which, whatever. But then she started getting really aggressive with her "I'm being friendly to get something from you" routine you pretty quickly become familiar with at these clubs. But in a rude, off putting, nasty kind of way. My friend wasn't feeling it, so her, her husband and our other friend went up to the stage to tip the dancer. The girl at our table remained, informed us our friend "was a bitch," asked us "why are you at the strip club if you don't like strippers?" I f+++ing love strippers, okay. Probably too much. But apparently since we weren't shelling out dough at the stage constantly and weren't interested in this girl's "company" we were assholes (on stage she was easily the worst of the dancers - did zero pole work; working tables must be her thing).
Me and my other friends who were still at the table just politely chatted with her, insisted our friend is usually pretty cool and tried to turn the situation. Which I thought we had. But then later *another* girl randomly comes to our table, asks us why we're here, says "it's like a f+++ing graveyard back here" and storms off. Mind you, we all had drinks, were talking and laughing loudly, etc clearly having a good time and the place was busy with tables she was *not* hassling (but there were still other tables empty; it's not like we were taking space from people who would have spent more). Lots of other tables came, sat a bit, maybe ordered one round of beers and left without ever going to the stage or paying for a dance and nothing was said to them.
Later, our waitress (who seemed really nice earlier) asked my friend "did I do something wrong?" and insisted none of us tipped her. We all tipped her, every time she brought drinks or food.... We were super confused.
In summation, don't piss off the strippers. They will hold a grudge and tell their friends. Also probably not the best place for "hanging out" for long periods as some people took it really personally we weren't at the stage more or buying dances even though we still spent a good chunk of change.
