Worst possible motel if there ever was one and I've been to some pretty bad ones. Missed our flight…read moreand needed a cheap place to stay. We come in and are greeted by a dog barking at us and don't get anyone at the front desk until about 5-7 mins later when we started yelling "is anyone there?!". That should've been our first sign. Like dude u heard a dog barking. He doesn't get ID or anything from us which should've been our second sign. We go to our room which is extremely dirty with stains on the sheets, bed poorly made, baby roaches crawling around the bathroom, dim lighting, just absolutely DISGUSTING. The room smelled of such strong smoke like a casino in Vegas. We went back down and demanded a refund, which at first he said wasn't possible, but there was no way we were leaving without that money- we were there for less than 10 minutes. We left with such an icky feeling that it's hard to believe this whole street of motels and inns shouldn't be burned down. We went across the street to Red Roof which is INCREDIBLE compared to whatever this was. It was just a $40 difference and such a stark difference in quality which is crazy to believe. Thank God for Red Roof. This Travelodge should be condemned.

I would have given it a zero! It was absolutely disgusting....unsanitary!!!…read moreStains on the sheets and pillowcases, black mold in the bathroom, bugs on the wall, just disgusting!

Our first personal encounter with the Ellis Hotel was with Stacy? at the front desk via phone…read morebefore we arrived.  She was delightful, helpful, full of energy.  That wasn't an anomaly.  When we checked in the next day, she was working the desk, and was just as bright and vibrant as on the phone.   She continued to help us, even though she was the only working, that we could see.  Making her way to the back, or to storage closets, to make sure we had everything we needed to have an enjoyable stay.  She helped make the stay.  Our other encounters were also good generally.   Although when we asked for a late check out, the supervisor seemed put out when she told the desk agent "I have to give it to them." We have Bonvoy Titanium status, but don't like to make big deal out of it.  One of the perks we like is the ability to check out as late as 4 pm guaranteed.  When all we are asking for is 1 pm, we don't think it deserves the attitude. The location is right downtown and walking distance to the arenas, Olympic Park, the Aquarium, and ferris wheel.  There are a lot of restaurants, bars, and other hotels, which gives the neighborhood some life, and adds to safety.  This area of Atlanta can feel sketchy when there's not many people wandering about.  There is a MARTA station right across the street, with a direct line to ATL.  So, if you are flying in, and don't want to fight Atlanta traffic, consider MARTA. The rooms and the hotel design are basic.  It's in a historic building with all the good (charm), and the bad (it's old). The rooms are modern and don't feel dated.  They get the job done, which is a restful night sleep. There's really no restaurant to speak of.  It's basically a Starbucks.  However, as mentioned plenty of other options, including a 24 hour diner around the corner with a great vibe, and great food.

I stayed at the Ellis Hotel in downtown ATL for a conference. The hotel is conveniently located in…read morethe middle of downtown. The rooms were small but clean and everything was nice. The AC worked really well and the beds were comfortable. There isn't a lot of restaurants/coffee/interest in downtown so you may have to drive. I got a rental car. The only parking option is valet at $55 a night. When I arrived there was no valet at the lobby. I had to wait and wait. Finally I just left my car and checked in. The valet person arrived and took my car. The service was decently fast, but it was always awkward coming back because I didn't know if anyone would be at the hotel. One time the brand new rental car smelled like marijuana when I got in.

My fiancé and I stayed here for about 10 days while he was working a job in Augusta…read more I'll start with a positive, the staff is very friendly, and while I was there, the guest were pretty quiet. Also, the free laundry is great. The bad definitely outweigh the good . My biggest issue is they run out of hot water during the day. I was supposed to get my room cleaned seven days into my stay, but the maids never came. They only give you two towels at a time, even if you're an extended stay which made me have to chase down maids every day. Also, they only give you a couple packs of coffee at a time so I had to find ask for coffee every couple days.

I'd like to start this off by saying that I've always had a good experience with Candlewood Suites,…read morebut boy oh boy, this was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. I slept in an 8 dollar hostel in Prague that was better than this place. First, when we got into the room, all of the dishes were in the dishwasher, but the dishwasher was broken, so it hadn't been ran, so all of the dishes were dirty, visibly used and soiled, not just notionally dirty because they were in the dishwasher. When I notified the front desk, I was informed they didn't have extra dishes so I would just have to use soap and wash the dishes myself. I feel like that's already three strikes in and of itself, but they didn't have any other rooms available so they couldn't move us rooms. Second, we got a room with a regular bed and an additional pullout sofa/bed thing so our kids could sleep on the pullout bed, but there were no pillows or blankets for that bed. When I asked the front desk for extra pillows and a blanket for the pullout, they told me they didn't have any, so we'd have to use the pillows from the bedroom and then gave me an additional sheet to use as a blanket, except we used that as a sheet on the pullout because the pullout didn't have a sheet on it. Strikes four and five. Third, the cable box in the bedroom was missing, and it was definitely supposed to be there because all of the cable cords were there, just no box. When I informed the front desk, they told me to take the cable box from the other TV, again just moving a problem from one spot to another instead of fixing it. Strikes 6-10. So every problem I brought to the front desk, I was given instructions on what I SHOULD DO to attempt to remedy the situation myself, as opposed to the hotel workers actually fixing the problem. Update: Day two, I report the problems again to a different worker, who actually fixed the issues within a day. So what started as a one star review, is now two because of Crystal at the front desk who actually solved problems, she's the only reason this is two stars.

my friend and I stayed at the highland inn about 20 years ago.an old lady who worked there told me…read morethe husband caught his wife cheating so he shot and killed the wife ,her lover, and then himself, n the sitting area on the first floor which was located to the right across from the stairs n the inside( the hotel wasn't always a hotel it was a family home first). the sitting area (murder scene )was white with black outdoor furniture n the inside but the room was definitely out of place and gave me a "what is this doing here feeling" at the time no one could go in and sit .the living quarters had plush carpet, different pics of the wife all around, and every room was different n terms of bedding and furniture.no fridge .U can tell the furniture and bedding was very old but the hotel gave me a "at home comfy feel" and even served home made breakfast. every cab driver told my friend the place was haunted and we also heard a woman fearful loud scream around 3am only once. But was too scared to investigate the scream.this is a fact and I never believe people when they tell stories like this about paranormal activity, but me and my friend r living proof and would have never stayed there if we knew this before booking. Trust me when and if u go n the highland inn, u will have a "different feel" as soon as u come n

The Highland Inn is a great place to stay if you are going out in the Virginia Highlands or Little…read more5 Points. I've stayed here several time when I have attended concerts in the area and it's a nice, cozy, quaint hotel with a European feel to it. For instance some of the rooms have the vanity in the room and not in the bathroom; kind of charming in a way. Service here is pretty laid back. I have usually booked online and when I arrive they have quickly checked me in and handed me the key. Of course they have a cat that greets you when you walk in too; which adds to the whole charm of The Highland Inn. The rooms are clean, but dated; and the beds are not great, but comfortable to sleep on. And you can't beat the price of this hotel; it's at least 50% cheaper than the other area hotel. Also the best location!
