I've eaten in both the bar area and more formally in the restaurant area, and both are great depending on whether you want something a little more intimate or not. And if you just fancy a lunchtime pint, which I've been known to do, then it's definitely somewhere I'd recommend. Lovely place.

The waitress took the order and left, only to return a few minutes later to say we'd owed £2.30 as the replacement meal was more expensive. Meals arrived after being insulted with an additional bill. Oh dear. The lamb cutlets still had a heart beat. I wasn't asked how we wanted them cooked, but wow, they were so bloody they could have been extra's on casualty. We returned them and asked if they could cook them a little longer so they weren't bloody. This time they came back as charcoal. We ordered vegetables for the baby. Hmmm. The cauliflower was brown and the string beans were more string than bean and looked they had been reheated several times over several days. All in all terrible food. I can't say the staff were unfriendly, but they certainly weren't customer focused. My advice, avoid.

Compared to a lot of the pubs I frequent, this one is quite large and open, but it is also a brewery. When you walk in, there are some couches against the wall, but the centre is just open, no tables, no chairs, just a lot of floor space. I wanted to try a couple of their brews, so I had a half pint of the Bishop's Farewell... mostly because of the fantastic name. Didn't enjoy it. On my second go, had a half pint of the Citra, still a lighter beer, but had a slight finish of citrus which was refreshing and helped curb the bitterness. Eventually there was some music in the background, but overall it was a nice place to get a drink.

The food selection didn't seem to be from a pub either, asian food. Hmmm, not understanding this from a beer perspective here but whatever keeps the populace coming back. Most of the beers here were pretty good, I had quite a few that night so I can't even remember really which ones I had so come and grab a pint or two or many.

Other staff of the Waterton Arms that deserve recognition are Spud (bar staff), Rachel (an incredible server in the restaurant) and Rob (an incredible chef who works magic in a small kitchen environment). Oh, did I mention that the food, service and alcoholic (beer & wine) selections are GREAT. Also, on Wednesday night, there is a very large turnout for 'quiz night'. This a a great example of a village pub !!!!!
