This whole religious , helping the addicts and such things has just completely gotten out of hand. As seen in Renee P.'s review, The store manager (Cathy) and her cohort in crime (old grey hair woman that CONSTANTLY over prices EVERYTHING) has done it again! While in the store today I noticed the prices on 90% of the items are OUTRAGIOUS! MY GOD! they call it a "THRIFT" store! As mentioned BEFORE lots of items are DONATED and the rest they buy in BULK PALLETS at auction (RETURNED ITEMS from big box stores and such) . I did say "RETURNED" items , items that were returned to the stores because they could/would UNREPAIRABLE, missing parts, RECALLS. Items the stores deemed "UNSAFE or to be TRASHED" Blake's takes the items and with almost EVERYTHING looks the items up on eBay and AMAZON and marks these RETURNED ITEMS and "HALF FULL PRICE OR MORE"! WITH NO, NONE RETURN POLICY AT ALL! So today 4/30/21, while there I heard a gentleman ask about a Yamaha receiver which I had glanced at (open box which had regular tape that had held it shut at one time) . My first impression was the box had (3) mailing stickers . One to whom I would say was the previous owner and then (2) from the manufacture "repaired" or maybe it couldn't be repaired. There was no instructions and no cord , antenna or remote that usually come with such electronics. I flipped the lid and saw they had $299.00 !! on it! WHAT!!!!!! in a THRIFT store?! Of course if you've been there this kind of thing happens CONSTANTLY! (THE eBay- Amazon thing) . So I walked away with thoughts of how ALL these people put on the HOLY-Roller act and Praise God and such. The gentleman made a simple request as I would think ANYONE thinking of spending that much or even less would do. (THRIFT store remember). He asked "Does it work?" Cathy and the grey hired women both rang in so quick it could have knocked me down . "BRAND NEW IN THE BOX!!" . The man said calmly but their is NO CORD and NO REMOTE." The grey haired minion LOUDLY says "THAT THINK RUNS FOR OVER "$750.00" . The man again ask "Has it been checked to see if it works? , That would be hard to do without a cord." Cathy was ALREADY RUDE and got worse! "BRAND NEW IN THE BOX WHEN WE GOT IT!" , ""WE OPENED IT TO CHECK IT OUT""! She bolstered! The man wished her a good day and left. She had the nerve to berate him where EVERYONE could hear and the gray haired women chimed right along! "These people thing we're just gonna give stuff away!" MY balloon popped!! " Christian" business selling "DONATED" and ""RETURNED"" goods at OUTRAGIOUS prices is going to belittle a CUSTOMER who wanted a ""TRUTHFUL" answer in front of a store with other customers! For one: the box had been open more than once (multiple types of tape), TWO: items missing (Important items people "POWER CORD" & remote, how about instruction manual! THREE: THE HUMONGOIUS PRICE for a returned item (proven by mailing address stickers on box) FOUR: and the biggest and worst part of all "HE WAS TOLD BY MANAGEMENT "MANAGEMENT" that THEY OPENED what was suppose to be "BRAND NEW UNOPENED BOX" to check it. "IF" it was NEW & UNOPENED "WHY?" would they open it knowing it was "NEW" as MANAGEMENT STATED??? STRAIGHT OUT LYING FROM THIS QUIET RELIGIOUS ""THRIFT" STORE! The money grabbing has gone to THIER heads! THEY KNOW THE PRODUCTS ARE RETURNS AND/OR DONATED but they are going to put it to the POOR people in the area (BOTH OF THEIR STORES IN BREMEN ANS CARROLLTON "BLOND IN CARROLLTON IS JUST AS BAD OR WORSE" ) Most of these people have very little and when buying HOPE they are getting something nice that usually they couldn't afford. SHAME! YOU CALL YOURSELVES CHRISTIANS?! This is a EVERYDAY THING PEOPLE! The gentleman before this fellow was buying a set of decorated pots (probably a set from a discount chain Mervyns or such) and he was a older man maybe in mid-70's poorish looking. He ask Cathy "Can you do any better on these?" Her reply: "NO that's as low as I can go"! AGAIN THEIR CALLING THIS A THRIFT STORE WHERE EVERYTHING IS DONATED OR IT'S A RETURN!!! """MOST ITEMS ARE 100% FREE"""" The profits they are making is through the roof!!!!!! and from what "I" KNOW that money is not helping those people the way they say . "Where are those men/women now? Haven't seen ANY of them working in the stores as before. Now its a SET TEAM both stores. You do see the boys bringing in deliveries BUT they aren't working as those before them . PEOPLE WHERE IS OUR MONEY GOING ? WHAT ARE BUYING, IS IT SAFE? AS I WAS TOLD AFTER BUYING BAD ELECTRONICS " QUOTE: YOU BOUGHT IT , ITS YOURS" . " NO RETURNS!" I'm sure somewhere there is a "LAW" about selling returned goods and there has to be one on the pricing of donated goods. If you have these problems with purchases make it known!
