I'll start by saying I'm quite gullible when met with pleasant helpful people so when I dropped in to Bike Station & was met by the lovely Noel I thought 'great place'.
Clean shop, nice displays, not a huge range but certainly things to browse & all the essentials. if you're after a FOCUS come visit them.
I bought a new chain elsewhere earlier in the day but needed a connecting pin & thought I'd grab one from Noel as I happened to be in the area. I then thought I might as well get them to put it on & Noel happily offered as they weren't busy - note it is always wise to check the cost at this point which I didn't do. Noel offered a $9 quick link which I accepted. About 5 mins later the mechanic had fitted the chain & ran through the gears. Finally I paid at which time the mechanic advised he tuned the gears and charged me... $59. Their price list shows a full bike service as $99, and hub/headset rebuilds as $45, so paying $49 for an unexpected 5min tune would probably be considered by most as quite excessive & unfair. Another appropriate word would be deceitful. That's one hefty chain fitting. Buyer beware read more
