The Big Red Door is one of the most unique spaces in Edinburgh. There, they hold a variety of workshops and events, from trapeze workshops to art shows and gigs. Other workshops include circus workshops, juggling, costume-making, drumming, acrobatics and stilting.
It's the home of the tepooka group, who put on shows every year at the Edinburgh Fringe. Tepooka is a community arts charity, and you'll find that, like the Forest Cafe, the space is predominantly run by volunteers. There's also a bar that is open on the occasions that they have a liquor license, though they only serve beer, wine and cider. Very good beer, wine a cider. I.e. Williams Bros Ale and Cairn O'Mohr wine. Sometimes the events held are BYOB.
For the last year, they've been in a financial rut, so become a member for under 5 pounds and that way you can attend members-only nights. And you'd be supporting a good cause. The space is absolutely stunning. It has three floors, and incredibly high ceilings. Definitely stop by and have a look. read more
