This was one of the most disappointing customer experiences we've had, not because of a rule--but…read morebecause of how it was handled. Our six-year-old son loves racing. He's been racing regularly since early November at another Andretti location and has already been officially verified as meeting the height requirement for the junior track. We came to this location excited, with family in town, expecting the same consistency. Instead, he was denied access based on a manager's visual guess from behind the counter. No one measured him. No policy was clearly explained. No customer records were checked. And the manager refused to even come out to engage directly. If height requirements are about safety (which we fully respect), then they should be enforced objectively and consistently. Guessing from a distance is not safety--it's laziness and poor leadership. What made this worse was the complete lack of empathy. Watching a child who loves racing go from excited to confused and disappointed--without explanation or care--was heartbreaking and entirely avoidable. The Andretti name stands for precision and professionalism. What we experienced here was the opposite: disengaged management, inconsistent policy enforcement, and a total breakdown in customer experience. We didn't ask for special treatment. We expected competence, consistency, and basic respect--especially when dealing with kids. This experience ruined our visit and seriously damaged our trust in this location. Until Andretti addresses these leadership and operational issues, we won't be returning--and we'll think twice before recommending it to other families.

The race cars are really the main attraction here and the entire place revolves around the racing. You cannot make a reservation. It's a first come, first serve situation. There are four racing categories (see below), so if you come with a group of mixed ages or heights you may not all be able to race together (I've witnessed this shock when birthday parties assume they can race together). The Intermediate and Junior Races are slower than you'd assume. I could jog faster, but the WORST part is the speed. They go so slow and are controlled so it's nearly impossible to pass another racer or actually RACE! The Mini Mario has some speed and speed is adjusted based on the general age of the racers in the heat. The cost is $29 down to $15, which doesn't sound horrible, but after waiting for a long time for your group to be called and then racing for 1min to 7 minutes, the cost is really high! High enough you're not likely to get in line and do it again. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Ugh. There are kiosks and a giant line with actual people at a counter. Don't be mistaken YOU MUST go to the kiosk FIRST and fill out waivers, although there are no signs anywhere telling you that. We've filled out waivers on line before arriving, only to find ourselves at the front of the line and told "we can't find it, now to to the kiosks and get back in line". It's awful. The employees don't seem to like their jobs, or likely are sick of people being upset at them for the HORRIBLE process management has set up. We've never been able to find someone on the floor to help us when a video game eats our money or doesn't work either. The guys in the race area are hit or miss. Sometimes they're patient and kind. Other times they mumble and seem pissed off to be there. GAMES: The video games are the same as other places around town, but after driving all the way out here, searching for parking and then racing for 5 minutes we've always felt like we need to play a few games to make the trip worth it. FOOD: We've never eaten here, but it's basic bar food (hamburger, hot dogs, nachos, etc) and the cost is high for such basic food. We'd rather pay the same amount for better food options in the area. All that to say, expect to spend $$$ to come race, eat and play at Andrettis. Make sure your group has checked the height & age requirements to make sure you can race together. And finally, come with a lot of patience. ----- Race Categories ----- ADULT RACE 7- Minute Heat. Adult Races are for drivers at least 54" Tall and either 18+ yrs old or 15+ yrs old with State Issued Driver's License or Permit. Max Weight: 300 lbs. INTERMEDIATE RACE: 7- Minute Heat. Kudos to the Competitor Group for another well-organized event. As a Tour Pass Unlimited member, I…read moredecided to make Dallas one of my stops this year. I flew in on Friday and headed to the convention center for the expo. Packet pickup on Friday was a breeze (it was on Saturday, too, when I returned with my running partner, but more crowded). This expo seemed smaller than some of the others and some of my fave vendors were absent (Sparkly Soul, ProCompression, Nuun), but plenty of local vendors, which is great for those who live in North Texas. 5K On Saturday, I participated in the inaugural 5K, which was organized in Fair Park. 2 of the 3 miles were through the park, but one mile was on an out and back on a road leading to one of the entrances (not so interesting). Even with this short distance, there was a water stop, which is nice. Finish line was well-staffed with volunteers handing out medals, bananas, water, etc. A live band was playing at the end, too. Corrals were self-seeded based on estimated pace (6/7/8/9/10 minute miles).Compared to other 5Ks, RNR definitely offers more amenities. Half Marathon Sunday was part two for those of us doing the remix challenge (running the Saturday and Sunday events). For the longer events, RNR seeds corrals based on estimated finish time, though they are not enforced. This was obvious over the first few miles when we encountered plenty of walkers (which for people with my corral would not involve much walking). 2015 brought a new course, but since I'd never run this one before, I can't compare. It was continuously hilly, and heavily on concrete streets (which I really felt later in the race), many of which were in poor condition, which meant I spent a lot of the race looking down to avoid tripping hazards. For a RNR event, this course seemed to be light on the entertainment. There were a handful of bands, which were really good, but then long stretches with no music and a few spots where there were speakers hooked up to a sound system. Kudos to the volunteers along the course and at the finish line. You are so appreciated!! As far as scenery, I loved running over the new bridge and near the turtle creek park. We finished at the American Airlines Center. Crowd support was great when we came across it, but again, long stretches without. Not my favorite event, but always well organized by the Competitor Group.

It's a great way to see the city. This race is always very organized with bag/gear check, and the volunteers and spectators are always awesome. The expo where you pick up your race packet was stocked with swag and goodies. I love getting my drawstring bag every year as well as the dri fit shirt. The medal was great this year too! It's a pricey race but you do get a bang for your buck so it's worth it. My only issue with the shirts would be that they would make them more gender specific. Other than that I very much enjoy this race and will definitely be back next year! Up next San Diego!!

Who could believe I would come this far and conquer this milestone with reckless abandon? Not even I could have predicted this. After hearing rave reviews about the Cowtown marathon, I decided to place that one as my 100 and work my way towards it. In the end, I ran 6 marathons/ultras that year (2017) to set the stage for the grand milestone. I was working on my 50 States marathon journey - 2nd round, so returning to Texas was a treat. It was nice to see other cities in Texas, so running through Fort Worth was very nice and I can see why the Cowtown marathon was very nice and scenic. Once I knew I was going to rock Cowtown marathon in 2018, I registered sometime in March 2017 just to save on the registration fee. They have 5km and 10km race distances, as well as a half marathon and the marathon. For those of y'all who feel adventurous, they also have a 50k distance as well. 50km is basically a marathon plus 5 bonus miles. Fast forward to race weekend, where I drove into Fort Worth Texas from Houston brunch meet up with friends. I missed going to the expo, but had a friend of mine pick up my race packet. On race morning though, I got to see the expo inside while waiting for the race to start. It was basically in a medium sized expo in a large convention center hall. The Cowtown marathon, half marathon, and ultra marathon attract thousands of runners and participants from almost all of the 50 states and around the world too. In 2018, the only US state that wasn't represented was Maine. I represented Hawaii, of course. During the later months of 2017, I exchanged emails with the administration of the Cowtown marathon, hoping that I could possibly get a special bib number 100. I was assured that I would get it, per the race director, but as it turned out, I didn't get it when I looked up my race information a week before the race and that got me disappointed. Still, it would have been a good souvenir when all was said and done. I guess they couldn't do anything about it or they didn't care. The race start and finish was held at the Will Rogers Memorial Center / Amon G Carter Exhibition Center near W. Lancaster Avenue in downtown Fort Worth. The marathon course was basically a big loop, with scenic points through the historic stockyards, the TCU campus, a few miles through city parks in the later miles, and many miles along the urban corridor of Fort Worth. The weather on race day was ideally perfect, starting in the low 40's F, but rose to upper 60's mid day. I didn't really enjoy the corral system on race morning though. We waited 15 minutes after the gun to go off and we were finally on our way. I did enjoy hanging out with friends and talking about race strategy though before getting my mind right for the day's activity. It was my 100th marathon/ultra attempt and I was trying to enjoy every moment of it. The first few miles were to get my intitall footing. I was trying to overcome a cold/flu on race morning, so I had to endure and enjoy 26.2 miles the hard way. It was a definite challenge, but I crossed every mile and saw every mile marker. These mile markers kept me from going nuts and it was always "one foot in front of the other" mantra, which kept me going. I did enjoy the sites and sounds of race morning. The aid stations were stocked with water and Gatorade. Thank you to the volunteers at the aid stations! There were other aid stations put on by area residents. Thanks to them for the (warm) shots of tequilla at mile 11 and a cold can of beer at mile 19. Those hit the spot and definitely helped me re-energized for the miles ahead. The Cowtown marathon, half marathon, and ultra event is basically an all road race event. The time limit, per the race website is 7 1/2 hours, but they wait for the last runners (providing that they are close enough and moving forward to the finish line). I enjoyed my time here at the 2018 Cowtown marathon and would definitely love to recommend running here in the heart of Fort Worth Texas. Race morning is typically the last Sunday in February. Not too cold, but not too hot either for running. If you want to run your first marathon or come to pick up Texas for your marathon or half marathon state, consider running Cowtown marathon The most memorable experience from this event is when I was approaching the finish line. About 50 yards away in the finishing chute, the race announcer told everyone via the PA system, that it was my 100th marathon today and that made me pick up the pace and cross the finish line. They also announced that I was from Honolulu, HI, which was always special too. I guess you just had to be there. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Definitely the best time ever. Run more! Support local! A++

This was my sixth Half, but as a first-time Cowtown runner, I was really impressed. From bib pickup at the Expo (filled with booths of gear, merchandise and more race sign-ups) to food, shirts and jackets at the finish line, this was an amazing experience. The organizers, countless volunteers, sponsors, musicians, cheer squads, spectators, and most importantly, the Fort Worth Police Department kept everyone safe, on course, hydrated and happy! This is such a feel-good event and I can't wait to run Cowtown again! Run a race on Saturday (5K or 10K) and again on Sunday (Half, Full or Ultra Marathon) and earn the Challenge Medal, too!

This race has some of the best swag each year which usually consists of a light-weight jacket which is perfect for 'winter' in the Dallas area. As for packet pickup, it is usually the Thursday and Friday before that Saturday morning race day. It is always in the same location at Fair Park and upon arrival, prepare to pay $10 to park. While this might seem a bit expense since the packet pickup only takes 15 minutes or so, it goes towards reducing the need for paying a parking fee on race day. One can actually stay longer that ~15 minutes as there are quite a few vendors in the packet pickup area. My issue with the vendors is most are setup to do a 'hard-sale' on their product which is never fun. Products tend to include windows for the house, electric companies, girl scout cookies along with a few health/fitness products. Ultimately, I'd like to see them have more products associated with health/fitness and fewer of the unrelated products. That said, the sponsorship helps keep costs down for the runners so we get what we get. In addition to the in-person packet pickup, the alternative is to have your packet and swag mailed which costs $25. On the morning of the run, entrance into the parking lots can move a little slow but they do a great job of keeping things moving to ensure people make it into Fair Park for the run. That said, be sure to arrive early as the parking lots are located ~1 mile from the actual start line for the run. While it's a bit of an inconvenience, it makes for an opportunity to warm up the body before starting the run. In addition to driving to the race, DART is always an option and the Fair Park station is much closer to the start line than the parking lot. The Dallas run is always in February, which makes for cooler temps on the day of the run. That said, once the run starts you will quickly warm up and completely forget about the cooler temp. The route of the run is not the greatest but it has improved over the years. Having participated in this run for many years, it's quite interesting to see the changes that are taking place in this area. From road improvements to fewer homeless camps to new businesses along the route, it's good to see that the city of Dallas is investing in this community. Once you cross the finish line and pick up your medal, head to the main area where you can turn in your ticket for a nice chocolatey treat. This treat includes a cup of hot chocolate, chocolate fondue, a banana and other treats for dipping. It always makes for a nice reward at the end of run in the cooler temps. Overall, this is a fun run and is one I will continue to participate in. NOTE: the Hot Chocolate Run Series is held in 16 other cities throughout the year and they also offer a virtual option. Go to their website (https://hotchocolate15k.com/cities/) to find a nearby location along with the dates, etc.

PR or ER was not the motto for this one. Fast finishing is not my speciality on this distance…read more I've been extremely sedentary the past 7 months (I don't even know who I am anymore) and have had a few injuries including multiple plantar plate tears in my left foot, but there was no way I wasn't going to run the Dallas marathon since I'm here. That was until we were headed to the start line and it was beyond freezing. Literally. Real Feel less than 20 degrees. Hell to the No No, this is not optimal for me. I told my bff I just can't do it today, there's no way I'm going to pull this one out of my a** in these conditions. I bundled up in a very serious way (never had so much on for a marathon, it's a shocker I could even move in this many layers) and imagined I'd strip this off before the start but then decided there's just no way I can manage this distance in this temp. He later told me, the only reason I ran this marathon and ended up getting out of the car (after saying drive me there, but I'm not getting out of this car) was because I had to use the restroom. Facts. I ran the marathon but he deserves the medal for braving the temps he did to provide support for me. This marathon can basically be summed up as the Jack and Coke run for me, although it was never Jack - I did stop at 3 different miles for some serious heavy pour whiskey shots to warm up and drown whatever pain I imagined I'd be in store for. I'd briefly studied the course/elevation chart the evening prior and knew this course would probably feel ok, pancake flat can really take a toll on me where rolling hills help switch up the muscle groups which I feel is always better for your body. I was frozen solid the entire race, each time I stopped to meet bestie at our designated miles 10, 18 and 23 or use the restroom- I'd quickly remove a glove and my hand would just burn from the cold. I couldn't slip my ear warmer away from my ears even for a moment and I legit had my thickest hoodie on with the hood tied up and over my ear warmer and hat most of the race. I love me some cloud cover but I was out here praying for some sunshine, none until the finish - go figure! All in all this marathon is extremely well executed. Registration, Expo, Start Line, Finish, Course Support, Spectators, you name it - it's a job well done in every aspect. The course is great as an out and back. The rolling hills are gradual enough to provide the fluctuation your body needs. I cursed the bridges around the lake, they were causing serious vertigo on a body that was on the brink of hypothermia. It took a moment to realize they were actually shaking and I wasn't on the verge of a seizure. The spectators were strong, it never felt deserted. I will say Texas loves their alcohol, I've never seen so many bars and shots set up. The entire race was one big bar. I'm very thankful for the little snackies that were out. I had a mini donut hole and an orange slice here and there. My go to marathon fuel remains the same, I always pack cheez its, Coca Cola has been brought into the rotation the past couple of years (I dont consume soda and had it on a course once and it was life changing), and a little sweet treat (cookies or gummy bears). I rarely if ever can stomach brekke prior so it's usually a few cheez its, a bite or two of a sweet treat (cookies), a sip or two of coke, a few Advil for shits and giggles - it's preventative folks! a pack of Bloks, sips of Gatorade at the stations, smart water and whatever else sparks my interest along the course. This time lots of whiskey! I will go out on a limb and say this course is probably a good one for a PR if you actually train for the race. Congrats to all the finishers and a huge shout out to the exceptional volunteers and spectators who were out here doing gods work in these below freezing temps, ya'll are the real MVPs.
