Went in on a Sunday at noon a week before Christmas, the restaurant was not busy at all with several empty tables and I was seated immediately. The rest of my party was meeting me there as we thought it would be much busier. When the waitress came to my table I told her I was waiting for two more and she took my drink order. A short while later the other two in my party arrived and she came back to take their drink orders automatically assuming someone else at the table wanted the exact same thing I ordered and only took the drink order of one of the others in the party. I was the only one at the table who liked soda without ice. I ordered the 3 car pile up and asked if the pancake could be put on the side and I would pay to upgrade the pancake to one of their special pancakes. The waitress said that could not be done (they could not build it in an easier fashion and make more money off of my order). When my food arrived there was not the ladles of gravy as the menu described and I had to ask for more gravy, to which they charged me an extra $2.49 for a very small bowl of gravy. I had to ask for refills on my drink as the waitress was walking by on her many trips to the other table next to us. Syrup was not provided so had to request that too. The restroom was a disaster, the urinal had a trash bag covering it and there was standing refuse on the floor throughout the entire restroom. I now know why it was not busy on a Sunday at noon. This location has no idea how to provide good customer service. Will be going elsewhere for breakfast on Sundays. read more

This was a TERRIBLE dining experience!! It took over 45 minutes to get our meal. There was only two of us. It was not busy and there were several servers walking around or standing around. When asked why, our server said it was because there wasn't a runner available, whatever that meant. No apologies at all. We were just getting ready to walk out as we had an appointment. We crammed our meal down and didn't finish. We have eaten at several of these and this is the only one that has had this big of a problem. I will not eat there or recommend them to anyone. We absolutely adore the Big Biscuit. Every time anyone visits the city, I give them the highest of recommendation to find a Big Biscuit. I ALWAYS get the Biscuits and gravy because I love that food. The biscuits are flaky and warm, the gravy is so flavorful, the entire meal is top notch. My trip a few days ago had incredibly well cooked hash browns that brought a tear to my eye. Here's what else we got: my brother is a fan of the Scrambowls. Talk about bang for your buck! My sister gets the waffles because those are her favorite food! The menu has a wide variety to please every person who walks through the door. The servers you can tell are always working their hardest to take care of you! Me and my bf went in together and I wasn't hungry so I didn't order anything but tried a couple bites of his. We ordered a BLT for me to go. While we sat and my bf ate I noticed the servers all seemed to be staring at me... I watched two servers walk back to the back together and one stopped the other and while staring at me whispered to the other server and he stopped dead in his tracks, turned around and stared at me too. About 3 min later that guy server went up to a different server and started whispering to the other server while both were STARING at me. I stg I am not crazy. our server wasn't rude but she seemed to hate me for some reason. Mind you none of these servers were staring at me smiling, all of them looked like they were upset or judging me. I'm not ugly, I wasn't rude and I'm dressed normally for the Kansas heat (not skimpy at all). I left feeling pretty irritated and uncomfortable. The food was good though. read more

We ate the Murlen location on 12.7.24 at approximately 1230-1pm. The Host was a fluffy haired light complected younger guy who was awkward and flighty. The restaurant had 5-6 tables with people at them. There is trash and garbage on the floor. Nothing is swept, but the table tops appear to be clean. My wife and I, on our way to a wedding (were dressed very nicely), stop for breakfast. We're seated at a filthy table with crumbs, grease, gravy, and syrup all over it. The bench seats were covered in crumbs and actual food. My wife sat in syrup, ruining her outfit. Under the table were pieces of waffle used napkins and eggs. Top top it all off its right next to the kitchen door which is very loud and we could hear all of the conversations in the empty restaurant. My wife speaks fluent Spanish and you have some real HR nightmares working back there. We asked if we could have something to clean the table off. Our server acted as though that was a problem but was over all nice about it. I think she was frustrated and embarrassed that the host would even sit us there. We ordered our drinks and got them pretty quickly. While we sat there waiting for the server to come back I noticed the host would turn around every few minutes and stare at me awkwardly for about 30 seconds at a time and turn around and laugh to himself. Then other servers would join in and hangout around the host stand. Our server comes back and takes our order. I got chicken and waffles and my wife got ham and eggs. Her eggs were cold, the potatoes had clearly not been made fresh as they were barely warm. My waffles were cold and split in half, I went to spread butter on them and found other food mixed with the butter (it looked like bread crumbs) my chicken was extremely hot and fresh (the only thing on the table that was fresh). As I'm eating I keep noticing this host ignoring the rest of the restaurant but is infatuated with my wife and I he even comes by our table a few times and is just weird and awkwardly staring at us as he goes into the loud unpleasant kitchen through the filthy door. We then ask for a togo drink and our check as we have somewhere to be. I paid cash which was a whole ordeal to get change back. We get up to leave and this weird host is standing at the host stand giggling to himself. So clearly him sitting us at the dirty table next to the kitchen was entertaining to him. As we left he tried to hold the door open for us while laughing I looked at him and said that the crappy table was a nice touch and he burst into laughter. All of this was clearly intentional I think he must not like people who dress nicely to go to a wedding. The kids got some serious problems. The cleanliness of this place was abhorrent, the food quality sucked, and we will go to other locations before we come to this again. We eat at the Lawrence location every Saturday. They do a great job over there. Maybe that GM can help this one figure out why it's filthy right before you close and your host thinks it's funny to ruin people's clothing, treat people like trash, and laugh about it. read more

It doesn't lend to a lot of confidence in these times when a restaurant doesn't continuously clean. Ants don't gather all over food in a short amount of time. When you point it out to the staff or even the manager all they say "I'm sorry" and walk away. We didn't want anything free just to move us and remove the ants. They're known for their breakfast biscuits, but they also offer up a fairly decent sized menu that is filled with southern influenced recipes served in LARGE portions. That includes traditional eggs, Benedicts, omelets, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, waffles and more. I went with the Cowboy Benedict, which featured a hand breaded half pound chicken fried steak on a split Big Biscuit piled high with hash browns and scrambled eggs and covered with ladles of gravy. I also might have doused everything in hot sauce. Yes, you read that correctly. Also, did you notice how I capitalized LARGE portions in the above paragraph? I did that because I've mastered the art of eating and I still took about half of my meal home. One last note, service is kind of hit or miss, but well intentioned. Our server forgot our appetizer biscuit and our drinks, but quickly reacted when we reminded him. As a high volume neighborhood breakfast restaurant, things are bound to happen. There are places you want to like. I tried Big biscuit twice because I wanted to like it, my son loves their pancakes chocolate chip. I gave it two stars because my son likes the chocolate chip pancakes. I on the other hand like the friendly atmosphere, every waitress we've had, has been awesome. My omelettes however have not been. The cook apparently takes the omelette off just before it burns so I've had two scorched omelettes, on two different days, in two different months. I'm over it. I was in the neighborhood helping my hubs and I was starving!!! Never been here in my life and certainly never heard of it. At first I was like yeah I want some biscuits but then I looked at the menu and saw New Orleans oatmeal. It intrigued me so much I had to try it. The hubs gave me a ton of sh*t saying how are you going to get oatmeal when it's a biscuit place hahaha Well let me say this was the best damn oatmeal I've ever had in my entire life!! The mix of flavors they use compliment everything perfectly!! Even when I opened my bowl to eat it the hubs said it smelled pretty good! I swear it should be made into a candle it smells so amazing! Let me also touch on the service! I wish I grabbed the waitresses name cause that lady was the nicest and not in a fake way the nicest person I've ever met! Like if I could see peoples auras hers would be beautiful and bright!!! Plus she made my oatmeal and not joke it was made with love!!! LOVE DAMN IT!!! I have never been disappointed when I go to The Big Biscuit. I was surprised that they weren't super packed on a Saturday morning. I always have a sweet tooth when it comes to breakfast food. Their cinnamon roll pancakes are amazing! It's like eating dessert for breakfast. They come with an icing on top. They are so sweet that you don't even need syrup. I was only able to eat half of them and took the other half home. I ordered them in a combo with eggs and bacon. The service there is always so friendly and efficient.
