LOVED our stay at The Bellwether. My husband and I stayed in "the Henry room," room 207. The Bellwether is adorably curated and designed. We met two of the owners during our stay - they were great. Our room was exceptionally clean, bed comfortable, and overall aesthetically pleasing. We also LOVED the neighborhood and location. Bardstown Road had a lot of great restaurants and shops. Easy location to get to music festivals and Churchill Downs. Will 100% stay here again on return trips to Louisville.

Continuing with Ian's and my Fancy Dinner Party ladies trend - we decided to ball out for no reason and stay one night at the Bellwether! It was a "touristing in our own neighborhood" sort of deal. One main perk was be able to walk here from our house, lol. First of all, I absolutely love that something beautiful was built in this old warehouse. It's a gem of the neighborhood now and I really, really cannot wait for the corresponding restaurant to open here! The decor of the entire place is tastefully done and I like that they highlight the historic use of the space in large photographs throughout the building. There's some funky art installations that makes taking pictures inside even more fun. Rooms are supplied with interesting books about Louisville - we must've spent an hour scouring a book about Louisville house architecture! I'm taking one star off being it is *pretty pricey*. Even though it's beautiful inside and comes with some amenities, I think it'll be more worth worth it once the restaurant is up-and-running. (I'm assuming they'll offer a discount or a free appetizer or something to those staying at the hotel who visit the restaurant.)

Good location, but does not make it obvious that there is no one working on the premises.

They are a very…read moreexpensive place to rent, but what they don't tell you is there are so many added fees after you've paid the initial deposit. Yes some people are fine with spending the money... but put those charges on upfront! It was a crazy amount of add ons for an already pricey venue. They don't even provide the wedding insurance. What kind of venue isn't already insured? The lack of communication and professionalism was disheartening. My sister got married here last Friday and it was a beautiful wedding... but all the behind the scenes was a disaster. They had scheduled tours for when the bride and groom were having their "first touch" and reading prayers... so there were people talking over them and getting in the way of the PAID photographer and videographer. And they didn't listen when told to lower their voices. Extremely rude and the fact that they didn't tell anyone they were scheduling random people to come in and look while a wedding was taking place was just really unprofessional. It made the bride and groom very upset and honestly made me quite upset too. I understand it's also a shared business space but I saw no one from the other businesses get in the way more than the actual event people. And then they only have five approved caterers. Which makes sense when you under the industry... but why they chose those specific caterers made no sense because of the lack of communication with them was just awful. And one of the caterers never even got back with us after an inquiry. And the one caterer we went with had probably the worst food I've eaten. Like I've had better cafeteria food. And they wouldn't approve of any other vendors, even if they were reputable and had a full staff. Terrible communication. Ridiculous standards. Would never recommend this spot to anyone.

There are several businesses here as well so it is a great creative space for start ups, established companies, or artistic cooperatives. It was easy to find the location, there was ample parking, everything was clean, well-lit, and there was enough bathrooms. Also, as someone who frequently helps disabled people around it was nice that everything was easy to get to and accessible for humans of all abilities. Good work, Kaela.

I opted for the black walnut Manhattan which was very well made. The tour takes you through interesting parts of the Distillery history, a crazy story by the way, as we as Prohibition. At the end of the tour you would normally go to a tasting room but since we were the only ones, he took us up and pulled samples with a whiskey thief from the barrell. It was so much fun and they had so many unique options to try. We rook a bottle of the french oak home. Definitely recommend stopping on your next Louisville trip and ask for our tour guide George.

The space is cozy, and the bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. Perfect spot for our Saturday afternoon. In contrast to Peerless, the high proof selections here at Prohibition were incredible. The unique styles and flavor profiles that their distillers have created had me rethinking everything I thought I knew about barrel proof libations. My favorites were the agave spirit (añejo) and the toasted bourbon. The amburana barrel aged whiskey blew me away! It's like nothing you've ever tasted I guarantee. This was easily my favorite whiskey on the trail. 10/10 would recommend! Do NOT miss this!

Free to park on the street (none available) but $17 to park in a spot BEHIND the hotel was wacky. No one to help you with your bags. As an able-bodied person I was barely able to do it myself. The entry includes about a 3" step you need to navigate on top of holding the door and pushing the cart all on your own. It was a $17 inconvenience. We thought the Myriad would be ok for our kid due to the pool and minimal/industrial design (meaning not a fancy 5 star spot). We remembered reading that they sell day-passes to the pool as a neighborly nod to the folks living nearby. When we arrived we were surprised to see the pool FULL of probably 15+ adults, some of whom were necking and a few with lit joints. Felt like the pool was for them instead of us, the folks who paid $260 to stay there. We waited a few hours til around dinner time and by then the pool was completely empty and we were able to enjoy it all to ourselves, but we were bummed to learn both the lobby bar and the poolside bar were closed. We saw later the pool's capacity is 8 people. Hmmm. Our king room was nice but super dark for some reason. No overhead lighting, just lights on the headboard. We had to have our phones' flashlights on to unpack in the afternoon. No real cable, just "Roku-free" style TV and to sign in to your own subscriptions. The windows were drafty which wasn't a problem in September until night time when we could hear dozens of cars/bikes racing in the street outside. All that said, it WAS a cute place. Kiddo loved the party lights in the elevator. The pool was majestic. You can tell it was designed by someone who knows what style is. But somewhere along the line the particulars were lost in the wind. The bed was comfy, the room was big, but the whole experience lacked the priority and hospitality you'd expect would come with the price tag. Sort of just felt like, what are we paying for? Probably won't be back.
