I found out about the Bead Boutique at an Intergalactic Bead Show (if you've never been and you like beading, you gotta go) and was surprised I had missed it, considering I have a lot of friends in the neighbourhood that it is located in. The reason why I missed it is because it's located in a house that has been converted to a bead store. The Bead Boutique has really helpful staff, lots of different kinds of beads and jewelry findings and decent prices. A few of the things I really like about it is that they have beading classes, give a weekly discount on supplies if you sign up for their newsletter, and have ready made packages with instructions on how to make gorgeous but simple jewelry. If you need a unique gift for a friend, or just want to buy some beads, then this is the place to go. Oh yeah, they have an impressive Swarovski crystal selection as well. read more

The Bead Boutique is a very cute beading studio located in Lansing. The reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because I was disappointed at the small, not-so-extensive selection of pre-made jewelry. Cute selection of beads though, and helpful staff. Fun little store that caters to jewelry-making enthusiasts. There are tons of pre-made jewelry that can also be purchased for gifts and/or yourself. The owners are very friendly as are the regulars, who you can often find beading at the table toward the back. This is Barbara's Boutique, a lovely shop full of handmade bracelets (you can learn how to create them in a class that Barbara offers on your time), Czech beads, Swarovski crystals, beautiful necklaces, Myuki beads, leather, charms, chain, peyote tapestry and many other items that can be created with the materials in her store. On weekends, people are welcome to sit, chat and work on their projects. When I first walked in one day I was wide-eyed at all the jewels sparkling. I had no idea what to do, but Barbara helped me through the whole process in making her lovely curvey chain bracelet. Just take a moment to visit her store. I went up to pick my niece up at State and wanted to go the bead shop that I found listed on internet. I was very pleased with the customer service and the whole atmosphere of the shop. The owner and the patrons who were there creating were friendly and even engaged my niece in conversation (not many people are that friendly). I came upon this treasure about a month ago. I have been looking for an all inclusive little beading store and did I ever find that here. I like working with leather cord and wanted to find a store that had multiple colors and sizes of leather cording. The Bead Boutique is the store. I wanted a store that used and sold more than just seed beads. This is the one! This store has a bit of everything such as lampwork beads, Swarovski Crystals, with many shapes and sizes, lots of Czech Glass, selection of chain as well as so much more! Barbara, the owner, is as creative and kind as she can be. She would love to teach you a class of your choosing for a very reasonable cost. Lastly , but sure not least stop in on the weekends and enjoy working on your own project and chatting with ladies that have your same love for beads. When I brought in my handmade plant hanger looking for a bead to hide a major flaw they took extra time to help me reconfigure and fix the problem and then spruce it up with some beautiful beads.
