Heirloom tries to be upscale but misses the mark in customer service…read more The food here is tasty. For a college town with plenty of competition and tastes, this is a nice place to grab a good brew and something to eat while you either pound the keyboard, work the mouse, or catch up on reading. Heirloom is attached to a great coffee joint and offer plenty of room to work and spend some time. The menu is inviting with its variety of sandwiches, salads, and entrees. Their loaded grilled cheese looks great on the board and is equally tasty, but I would have to suggest that they tighten up the execution on making grilling the darn thing better. Be sure to get a cup of chilli on an Iowa cold day. Heirloom does make quite an amazing cup of chilli. The student staff probably has its challenges. I can see how their service may be a miss sometimes. I do have to point out that on my visit and supervisor or manager did notice my discontent and she tried to correct the matter and offered a sincere apology. I am giving kudos to the effort given. Others may just have brushed things off and let things be as they may.

Plenty of tables to choose from whether small or large group. I just really wanted a massive salad and massive salad I received! You can choose from a selection of menu items or you can build your own sandwich or salad. I chose a menu selection, they tossed it all in a bowl with some dressing and packed it into a little container with zero room for activities. There was like a dusting of protein and an absurd amount of lettuce, but it was pretty good and hit the spot. Service was about what you'd expect from a small town cafe!

We had about a 5 minute wait. I LOVE their bloody Mary's and my husband loves their spicy bloody so we each had one of those. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. I loved my salmon toast. I forgot about the hash brown side - they taste fine but I'm just not huge on hash browns so I would have chosen a different side. Since it was my birthday, the waitress brought a small plate with 6 macarons - one with a candle. It was the perfect small treat to polish off our brunch! Delicious caramel and chocolate bite!

All I wanted were some light bites (2 Steet Tacos) and a my favorite Reunion Beer (Imperial Banshee). That's an Imperial Stout at 10% and in a smaller glass. Bump's Restaurant lives in the clubhouse at Finkbine Golf Course…read more I'd give this a 3.5 star but all things considered it's doing great things! Definitely above average for a golf course restaurant, IMO. Bump's is open on the daily. They serve up lunch (until 4PM) and dinner on weekdays, with brunch on weekends. (Don't miss their happy hour, M-F $4 domestics and $5 house wine.) We came in on a Sunday for brunch. We had a reservation. (Call 319-335-9662. It is recommended.) We were seated right away and drinks came out semi-quickly. But oh my gosh our brunch took over 90 minutes! They weren't even overly busy-- the food just took a long while to get out. I had the brisket hash and it was nothing to write home about (though the meat itself was fabulous. I'd definitely try more brisket dishes in the future). My Irish coffee hit the spot, as well. My kiddos had pancakes and french toast. Wowza is that french toast brioche huge! The eggs benedict looked phenomenal. I'd order those next time with crab cakes. (They were out of crab cakes at the time.) The ambiance is super cool. Love the memorabilia throughout. The pricing seemed on point. The staff is kind and generally knowledgeable. Overall, hit the links and pop in Bump's-- you won't regret it.
