Whenever in Rochester, my husband gets his haircut with "Sami" & will wait until he can see her only. Again, he was extremely pleased with the ease of making an appointment, the quality & the pricing of his cut & the extra "clean-up" he received. One of the few places that can do Asian haircut in Rochester. Coming from the west coast to the mid west, there isn't a ton of people that knows how to cut asian hair. Too often it's cut too short that it sticks out in odd places because asian (especially male) hair can be quite stiff to work with. The staff here do a great job at listening and working with you until it's done just right. If you work at the Mayo Clinic and need to get a professional cut to be presentable to your patients, this is the place to go. read more

I have been going to the barbershop for many years. For several I have requested the same stylist. my Last visit my normal stylist wasn't available. I was going to an event and needed a cut so I made the appointment. after Sitting in the chair I explain how the other stylist cut it. She had me tilt my head forward and I feel the clippers. About the fourth swipe a ball of hair falls into my lap. I immediately stopped her. After asking what she was doing. she rudely told me this is how she did it. The back of my head looked like it was shaved. I told her if cutting my hair was a issue I could go somewhere else. She wanted to finish. I now have the worst cut I ever had. My hair stand strait up. If you go to the south store and the stylist has glasses and a southern accent beware. I expect the stylist to at least try to cut it the length I want. I will go back to my normal stylist. But it will be several month before it needs it. read more

Worst of the Barbershops in town. Made an appointment and when I got there waited half an hour with no sign of any haircut in sight. Asked the receptionist and she didn't have any idea of when I would get one. None. Ended up walking out. Just a total waste of my time. Been going to the North Barbershop for years and never had any issues. New job has this one on my route home so figured I'd go. Never coming again. read more

I typically only get my hair cut by a male barber at a true barbershop, but after visiting Rochester and getting a trim here, I would come back. While it's called a barbershop, it is actually a salon, but the ladies here understand men's hair and can do fades, texturizing, and tapering of necklines. I popped in without an appt. and they got me in right away on a Sunday afternoon. A shampoo and condition comes with the haircut. If I remember, the haircut was something very reasonable like $13-ish. The only thing they don't do here that a barbershop does is the straight razor wet shave on the neckline and around the ears. Bottom line: I will return if I am in the Rochester area and in need of a haircut. read more

Went to the South location in Rochester. Mel is a wonderful stylist who gave me an awesome cut and much needed beard trim.

Where else can you watch t.v. get your hair cut, washed, along with a massage all for under 13 bucks. At home? The staff was very friendly and I even found someone that gives flat-tops (military). There is a t.v. in each booth, and it was very relaxing the whole time there. You may need to call ahead of time because they do take appointments. However they seemed to be staffed quite well. NOT an actual Barber shop. This is MENS HAIR SALON. You are serviced by cosmetologists. There are NO BARBERS in there. The people there do a decent job on mens cuts. Although, my stylists could have asked me which way I wanted to get lined up instead of making assumptions! I was looking for an FULL Barber Shop who could line me up with straight razor and give me a shave. A simple Barber Shop.. thats all. This is good hair stylist place. This site is a duplicate for the one above at 221 28th St SE. Since there are no reviews, please change it to the new Valhalla location, 300 A Elton Hills Dr Rochester, MN 55901. This is a chain, expanding from Rochester now. The experience at the three sites I have visited are interchangable, I have gotten in fairly quickly when I walked in, appointments have been even quicker. The price is now up to $11 cash for a haircut, $11.50 plastic. The haircuts have all been OK; the price can't be beat, the stylists are personable. I'm too nearsited to watch the TV with my glasses off. I really like getting a massage and shampoo after the haircut. Since my regular barber gave up his shop, this is my go-to. ------------------------ The price has gone up a bit, and I now have a beard they trim. This, and the others in the chain are still my go-to haircuts. read more

I was a little apprehensive when I saw that they offered some silly/gimmicky (free peanuts and shoulder messages) extras, but I walked out of the shop with an extremely professional cut, hot towel, and shampoo for a song: $15.50 ($12.50 + tip). I no longer hold the belief that exceptional haircuts are limited to establishments run by male barbers that smell of Old Spice and talk only about sports. I'll be a repeat customer. read more

Excellent barbershop for men. Full service, inexpensive, and excellent staff. They also have free peanuts, coffee and a comfortable waiting area. I suggest setting up an appt. if you're trying to get a walk-in on the weekend because they get busy. read more

This place gives great haircuts! I am now spoiled and will NOT be going back to one of the large corporate chains that buzz your head and get you out of the chair as fast as possible. I usually love this place, but today it was a horrible experience. I walked in and stood at the counter and at least 3 employees looked at me and went right back to cutting hair. Well they seen me come in nobody asked if they could help. So I sat down, 10 minutes later someone else walked in and right away was asked if they could help him. Then over hearing it was an hour wait I decided to just leave, this was at the south location. The fact that 3 of them seen me enter and stand there and not one person asked if they could help me left a bad taste and I won't ever return to that south location again. read more
