If you value your time like I do, this probably isn't the place for you. I arrived at 11:13am for my 11:15am appointment with Adriane. Signed in, was barely greeted by another lady barber who was putting curls into another barber's hair. 10 minutes go by, and Adriane is still working away on another customer. I asked the ladies who were curling if the lady who was still working on the other customer "was Adriane" (I knew she was, but just trying to start some dialogue regarding my late appointment). One of them, quite dismissively, answered "Yeah, do you have an appointment?" I told her that I do and that it was for 11:15am. This lady responded in a tone that I was interrupting the curling session by even asking "She's still busy, she'll be with you soon." No apologies for Adriane running late, calling the issue to Adriane's attention or anything. Adriane then rang her customer up, proceeded to the back of the store and then starting sweeping her area. No acknowledgment of me, the missed appointment or anything else (by any of these barbers, including Adriane). At 11:35a, I got up and walked over to Adriane, who was sweeping, and explained to her that it was 11:35a, I had an appointment at 11:15a, but that I was leaving because of the lateness of appointment, poor service, no acknowledgement of me or my time. Adriane did apologize, dropped her head (I got the feeling this is a recurring theme here) and said, "Well, I am ready for you now." Thanks, but no thanks. At this point, I decided to take my business elsewhere because for $60 haircut + gratuity, I expect not only a good haircut, but also prompt and friendly customer service. When you are running late, which sometimes happens, be sure to kindly acknowledge your waiting customers. When you lack situational awareness, you send the message that you don't care or don't need my business (maybe both). I won't be back to this location of The Grand Barber. read more

The Barber Shop that is in place now seems to be a bit more "high brow" than the ones in the photos, as it has gone under a refresh and the interior is a bit more modern and barbershop-esk. Less cluttered, better themed and seems cleaner. They are located at the corner of Baker Road and Highway 34 in a small plaza that features several local businesses. Parking is enough considering the size of the plaza. I have been bringing my Dad to The Barber Shop for a few years now and while the purpose of the trips are always for his cut, I sometimes take a seat and get the ole ears lowered as well. Haircuts have always been decent, no major issues. A few touch-ups needed, but nothing major. Service is always friendly and helpful. Overall, really like the vibe of the updated space. Dad is happy, which means I am happy...and when in need, I wouldn't mind getting another cut! read more

Beamer was outstanding. A real laid back guy. My 12 year old son had a bad experience with a previous haircut and hates going to get a haircut. Beamer was very patient with him as he was indecisive about what he wanted. He showed my son numerous haircuts. He talked my son into letting him do his thing. My son agreed but was skeptical. I guess the point of the story is that he was really cool to my son. He has a haircut that he really likes and wants to go back to him for his next cut. Job well done! read more

We brought my husband in for a hair and beard trim. This can be difficult with his Alzheimer's disease. Beamer was so kind, coaxing him through the appointment and treated him with respect. Worst experience I've ever had in a barbershop. I asked for a low fade and a trim on top. Lady completed the haircut and then slicked my hair down with some sort of styling gel, I did not ask for this. She then sent me up to the front to pay. The lady at the front counter and the first chair hair dresser both seemed really concerned and asked if I had seen the back of my head. I thought about it, and realized the Lady only showed me the sides of my head. Saw the back and was told once the gel comes out my hair won't look right because it's not properly faded. The two hair dressers started to argue and I decided that it was time to leave. To sum it all up, bad hair cut, hairdresser tried covering it up with gel and didn't show me the back. I try to support local businesses. I had driven by this place several times and considered trying it out for my son and finally decided to today. Big mistake. Especially for a hair cut right before his first day of Pre-K. We walked in and there were two women there. One was in the process of checking someone out and I don't know what the other was doing. We waited until one of them acknowledged or greeted us. I guess " Are you ready or what?" is what is considered a greeting. I should have left then. We had the misfortune of having Shirley. She stood by her chair and waited for my four year old to climb up. Didn't greet him or me. Barely made eye contact. "What do you want with his hair?" Another opportunity to leave that I should have taken. I explained that I wanted his hair short around the sides and back and to shorten the top to be able to spike a faux hawk. Same thing I have told his usual hair stylist with no problems. I got a smirk and a quick "OK". She put his cape on and started on the back of his hair with the clippers. He flinched because he wasn't expecting it. From there it went down hill. Yup, he's four and he will fidget lady. Guess what? He doesn't fidget with his normal stylist who actually talks to him and treats him like a person. It's a good thing smacking her would have put me in jail because by the end of the haircut that's what I was ready to do. She was rude and gave him a crappy haircut to boot. That's what I get for trying out a local business. I will happily go back to Emily at JCPenney so my son doesn't look like he was hacked at by a beauty school drop out. I drive from Jonesboro every other Sunday like clock work to This barber shop! The staff is always super nice and very professional. I typically get a gentleman's hair cut high and tight with a beard trim. The process usually takes about 35-40 mins. The steam towels, razor trimming and shaving It tends to be the best hair cut and trim I have ever had. I always request Jimmy. I would highly recommend him to anyone. read more

After an hour wait more customers came in with appointments and we were told we had to wait for them to finish. Got too big for your own good. Best barber shop I have ever been too. All the women barbers there are really friendly towards military veterans and they do a terrific job every time I get my haircut there. I use to go here all the time to see Gina. Just learned today that Don Collins fired her for getting bumped on a flight coming home from a family event. What a loser! Two weeks before Christmas, nice guy. Gina was a great barber. Do not support this business. He is bringing back his family members that drove me away the last time. I arrived at the shop at 10:15 a.m., and seeing that Amanda was on the schedule, I asked for her specifically. I was immediately informed by their sign-in system that my wait time would be 45 minutes. As I sat in the lobby, I watched my wait time go from 45 minutes to 27 minutes, to 17 minutes, to 11 minutes and then back to 35 minutes. This all took place over a 45 minute period, as it was now 11:35 am. Every time a new customer would arrive and be logged into their system, it would displace me from my designated slot, increasing my wait time. There appears to be something very wrong with this ystem. I understand that many of these customers did not request a specific Barber, but were waiting on the first available Barber. It doesn't matter how good the service provided is if you can't ever get into the chair! At this point, I'm agitated and pissed off and I'm not sure that I will return or recommend this business. read more
