Caprese salad
Kevin A.

Coworkers and I stopped by during our lunch. Very clean establishment. I ordered the caprese salad and I was not disappointed. The server was friendly and responsive. My counterparts had a pizza and a wrap. Lunch was quiet once the food came out so it must've been good, right? I recommend this spot. Give it a shot if you're in the area.

Food always delicious. Great local pizza without needing to go to New Haven. All day Sunday happy hour!

We went to this place for dinner last night and enjoyed how they had heat lamps outside which allowed us to sit outside. We ordered the mashed potato and famous clam pizzas. They were new Haven style thin crust but were a little thicker than that for us. The flavors were good but the clam was far too oily leaving a pool of oil behind on the pan. They give you free garlic knots which were tasty but we had to ask a second time for them after our waitress had offered them to us. Our pizza did take a considerable amount of time to come out. While we were eating, an employee and two customers were allowed to smoke within 20 feet of our table and the opening of the outdoor seating, which shouldn't be the case especially on a windy day. I had to mention this to our waitress when I paid our bill and received an apology and that they would look into this situation.

This place was just ok. The fried mozz was cold in the center. The calzone was 2 meats inside and the meats were kind of off flavors and all bunched together. The pizza was adequate but not allot of flavor.

The best pizza on the Northside of North Haven. Perfect location right off of Washington Ave. and affordable prices for a quality pie.

Soooo many onions!!! Large peppers!!!!

So I've driven past this restaurant many times and have always wanted to try it.... We'll tonight I did and..... well first of all 15$ for plain calamari is insane especially when you can get fresh wild-caught calamari for around 2$ PER LB... but to then pay an extra 1$ for their "N.Y. Style" calamari that is SUPPOSED to be tossed with cherry peppers and Marinara to actually RECEIVE PLAIN calamari with A SIDE OF MARINARA WITH PEPPERS TOSSED IN is absolutely crazier!!!! Their description clearly says fresh fried calamari TOSSED in a spicy cherry pepper marinara sauce.... NOT served on the side!!! I don't even use marinara because I personally prefer cocktail sauce SOOO how would someone like me even know seeing as I don't even open the marinara!!! So I called (because I didn't open the marinara) and first person handed the phone off to a second person and then the THIRD person that was rude, short and in a very matter of fact response said "did you check the sauce?".... I said no because I use cocktail sauce, so she said "check the sauce" because we put it on the side so it doesn't make the calamari soggy!!!!! I said wait so I paid more because you threw a few cherry peppers into your marinara?? I think anyone that reads "tossed in sauce" would or should assume its not going to be AS crispy as plain AND NEVER have I ordered calamari where it WASN'T served with even ONE lemon wedge!!!! So yeah TERRIBLE!!! Then I had held out SOME HOPE for the calzone I ordered with peppers, onions and meatballs which I asked if there was pork in the meatballs and she VERY CLEARLY said NO.... Most traditional meatballs have a mixture of ground pork and beef sooo hopefully she knew what she was talking about!!! Anyway soooo I opened my calzone and it definitely looked delicious...... but as we all know looks can be deceiving VERY deceiving!!!! As you will see I'm the pictures they basically put a WHOLE white onion in and a ton of very poorly cut green peppers and again as you can see in the pictures the meatballs were basically non-existent!!! I still was very hungry so I dug in!!! Absolutely disgusting and COMPLETELY FLAVOURLESS!!! All I could taste was the onions and the ricotta's consistency was not how decent ricotta should have been like and it was a lot!!! No flavour in the ricotta, no flavour in the mozzarella and definitely couldn't taste the meatballs!!! Ohhh and let me tell you about the "sauce".... It LITERALLY tasted like TOMATO PASTE extremely acidic and that is not how it should be!!! So yeah those are probably the reason that on a FRIDAY EVENING they're DEAD and EMPTY!!! None of them were nice personable OR EVEN SMILED!!! Although the young kid (male) that took my order was smiling personable and helped so that I could use Apple Pay!!! So for calamari and a small calzone I spent 43$ DOLLARS and left him 5$ for FOOD THAT WAS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY INEDIBLE!!!! Maybe people like their food and customer service after a few to many drinks because for me that is a hard NO and never again!!!! I'm sorry but with everything being a bit more expensive and the amount of competition there is you'd think you'd actually ATTEMPT to make people happy and serve food that tastes decent and is actually edible or at least attempt to rectify the problem!!! Nope!!!

Olde World Apizza - Mozzarella with half Pepperoni

Olde World Brick Oven Apizza is a New Haven-style pizzeria that opened in North Haven, Connecticut…read morein 1995. It was founded by business partners Bill McCarthy and Joe Houde. McCarthy started making pizza at the age of 13. He received his training by working at local pizzerias such as La Bella's and Sorrento's. Once he reached adulthood, he started a career with the railroad. He worked with the railroad for several years until a physical injury caused him to retire. He went back to pizza-making when he started an eight-year stint at the popular Modern Apizza in New Haven. Eventually, he and Houde partnered up to open their own pizzeria. After 30 successful years, McCarthy and Houde decided to retire and sell the pizzeria. In April 2026, Olde World reopened under the ownership of business partners and chefs Robert Marcarelli, Jared Schulefand and Isarel Lopez. Marcarelli actually started his career working at Olde World, before going on to study at the Lincoln Culinary Institute. Schulefand started his career working as a busboy at Modern Apizza, before going on to study at Johnson and Wales University. He now owns Home Restaurant in Branford. Marcarelli & Schulefand both have their own restaurant consulting business (Pi Restaurant Consulting), and they co-own Supreme Seafood in North Branford, the Shanty in Branford, the Galley in Guilford, and NEBCO Kitchen in Branford. Lopez was a longtime pizzaiolo at Next Door Pizzeria in New Haven and nearly bought it before a deal fell through and it closed. In addition to New Haven-style thin crust apizza, Olde World also makes calzones, Italian entrees, pasta dishes, subs, stuffed breads and salads. I recently visited Olde World after they re-opened under the new ownership. I had eaten their pizza multiple times over the years and always loved it. How would the pizza taste now with the "new guys"? The new partners prepared a variety of different pies and dishes for my small group to sample. The classic "Mozzarella" (red sauce, mozzarella, pecorino) still tasted just as good as it ever did. In addition to the classic offerings, the partners have added some more modern twists to the menu, such as "Mashed Potato" (white, mashed potato, caramelized onions, bacon, garlic), "Crab Rangoon Pie" (white sauce, crème fraîche, imitation crab, sweet chili drizzle), and "Spring Fling" (asparagus, seacoast maitake mushrooms, ramp pesto, mozzarella, goat cheese, Szechuan chili honey). The latter (a special of the month) was my favorite of the tasting! We were also treated to some "Penne, Sausage & Broccoli Rabe" and "Burrata Salad" (asparagus, spicy capitol, herb marinated artichokes, tomato confit, baby greens, garlic crumb, balsamic truffle). Paired with some local Foxon Park sodas, we were treated to quite the feast! Not only is the food just as good as it ever was... it's even better now! I must tip my hat to our excellent hosts. I plan on coming back again and again!

We drove over an hour from southern RI to try out this place…read more Steve and John welcomed us in and gave us a tour. There's about 8 booths- It's a bit on the small side but the food was fantastic. Hubby and I were born and raised in NYC. It's been so long we've had really good pizza. John and Steve brought out pie after pie. We had the plain, plain with grated cheese, tomato with fresh mozzarella, clam with bacon, mangia special, Stevie Gs apple pizza, mashed potato pizza. We brought in our homemade suppi and they put it on some of our pies. We also tried the eggplant Parmesan and garlic knots. The plain pies, mashed potato, and the mangia special were my favorites but really everything there was top notch. There is nothing that I wouldn't order again. The crust is nice and crunchy. Good char on it. Sauce was delicious - not sour like straight from a can. Toppings were better than I expected for a small pizza spot. Sausage was tasty. Mushrooms were fresh not tinned, fresh tomatoes and basil. Tons of clams on the pizza. Bacon was thick sliced and left almost whole. Eggplant was sliced thin. Generous with the toppings. Even better than their pizza- is their service. It was my first time meeting them and I felt like an old friend. They were so friendly, chatted with us, told us stories -- we really had a good time. The older gentleman who brought out the food and took away the empty trays was very thorough- checked in on us regularly. Mangia Apizza is easy to miss - connected to Vick's Cafe (really it's a bar). Stop in and grab a pizza. You won't be sorry. And if you want someone to talk your ears off - stop in and eat at a booth. I wish they were closer!!
