Covid-19 means credit card is now accepted. You tap the machine through the plexiglass. Wow! I'm glad it is still open. My favorite buns from this place are the pickled veg with pork, veggie divine and curry beef. I like the salty sourness of the pickled veg which cuts the meatiness of the pork. The slight spiciness of the veggie divine makes it tasty. Plus you can't go wrong with curry. I find the bbq pork bun is common and can be found anywhere. It is also good here. This is still my favorite bun place for a quick meal or snack.

Wow bao, bao! and The Bao Place Only has bao!! My daughter mentioned that we must stop at The Bao Place before we leave Canada and she mentioned that this place is cash only. I saved my last 25.00 CAD for The Bao Place. We found out, when we arrived at the business that they do take credit cards, which is good news for next time we visit. Nice, clean, and tiny shop that only serves fresh, homemade steamed buns. The bao comes in so many different flavors, even sweet ones too. There was a promotion of buy 12 bao get 2 free but we ended up purchasing 8, after paying for the bao which was already too late. What I miss when eating Bao are the vietnamese style bao, I was surprised to see that they have this bao, which is the Pork Deluxe (comes with pork, scallions, jicama, ham and egg) . I got exactly what my family wanted and we were out of there in less than 10 minutes. The bao were packed nicely in the box and the lady labeled the top of the box, smart labeling system, which was so helpful. The baos are available in: pork deluxe, pork delicious, BBQ delight, curry dynamite, veggie devine, spicy chicken bao, chinese pickle With pork, belly pork. The sweet bao comes in Buttermilk, Taro, and red bean. Our baos were pork deluxe, belly pork, curry dynamite, buttermilk and taro buns. As we were waiting to Cross the border, everyone ate the bao in the car. It was delicious and I really enjoyed my pork deluxe bao, taste exactly like the Vietnamese buns. The buns were so soft and the filling so hot and fresh. I ate the buttermilk later and wow, that was so good!! Dreaming of those BUNS,Now I really have to go back again!!

After our lunch at Yaguchiya Ramen (not recommended btw), I noticed The Bao Place (which was next door). This place has been on my list to try for a while, so I was happy I stumbled upon it. Since we were full from lunch, I just bought the pork deluxe bun and the belly pork bun to go. When I ate it at home, I noticed the fillings of the pork deluxe bun was kinda cheap. It wasn't as abundant as New Town Bakery but the bun part was soft. I then tried the pork belly bun and I thought they were cheap too cuz they only had one piece of pork belly but the flavour was good. I think the prices for the deluxe is pricey for their ingredients. It's $3.75 where as New Town is $3.50. If I were ever to crave for a pork deluxe bun aka as dai bao, I would either go to New Town Bakery or the Bao Bakery.

Good price and size, and the buns are delicious! Was a bit skeptical at first as I grew up eating them and can be quite picky with my buns. The texture of the bun is just right and there's a good amount of filling inside so it doesn't feel like you're just eating dough without anything. Smells really go inside but no place to seat so definitely a to go thing. The smell some drinks, including soya drink as our traditional breakfast. They offer cold or hot (it's really just warm). Street parking around the area and just on the street so hard or miss! Walkable to skytrain and bus stops for people who don't drive.

We have our bao buns go to place in Vancouver, but I live in Burnaby and always in the Metrowtown area so I've added this place to my bookmarks. Today just happens to be one of those days where you just need a snack not a meal. I originally wanted to go to the cafe down the street but it was still closed. So I ended up here and I'm glad I did. Fresh hot boa buns, I got the pork. The bun itself was not as big and fluffy as Im use to but the filling was so good and lots of it. It's about 2.75 for one more for specials ones. They also have sweet ones like taro and red bean. If you buy a dozen you get two free. Not really for dine in and eat type place but they do have two small tables, also has hot sauce you can add to your buns. Overall, I enjoyed it I will be back.

My first time in store and staff were super friendly. Bought 12 bun with 2 free. Belly belly pork bun is sweet and salty, love how it taste. My favorite is bola bola deluxe pork bun!

Local mom and pop shop for baos. They were very fresh and hot right when we got them. Reminds me of the comforts of home.

Do you know what eating 8 Baos in one night will do to a person? Do you? Embarked on a mission to find the best baos in the city and there's nothing I won't do in the name of a worthy cause so if that means my mind and body must endure 8 Baos in one sitting, so be it. Have been hearing murmurs of this place for a while now so The Bao Place across from Metrotown had to be the first stop on our journey, before heading on to Bao Bakery on Joyce St. Stepped into this tiny little shop on a Friday night after work and managed to narrow our choices down to 4 baos based off the best trusted baovice of the two lovely girls running the counter. BBQ Delight, Spicy Chicken, Belly Belly Pork, and Buttermilk because it's got to be 3 savoury and 1 sweet if we're going to be making any sort of informed decisions. Would have gone Pork Deluxe in place of Spicy Chicken but they had sold out and you can't always have what you want in life. BBQ Delight - we'll have to go BBQ pork at every bao place because this is the true benchmark for any legitimate bao comparisons and let me tell you - this was a wild ride at The Bao Place. Is it curry? Is it bbq? Might have been both and while different from any BBQ Pork bun I've ever had, I'm not mad because we all need to be pushed out of our comfort zone once in a while. Packing a ton of flavour with a really nice juicy meat to bao ratio, I'm not likely to order this one again if what I'm craving is BBQ pork. Spicy Chicken - I was not blown away by this one but you get what you expect here. Ground chicken that packs some heat and while it's tasty enough, there's not much too exciting going on. Meat to bun ratio is impressive. Belly Belly Pork - would not order again. Too salty for my taste and while there were juicy fatty bits, a lot of the pork belly was dry like jerky. Buttermilk - Gamechanger here, and if you do anything at all, do this. With a custard consistency, it almost reminded me of the texture of the coconut in a cocktail bun but so much nicer. Subtly sweet milk and just the perfect amount of sweet, this just feels like the best parts of childhood in your mouth. Filling to bao ratio very nice. 4 Baos for $11.75, would I come again? I wouldn't not. Highlights include very impressive meat and filling to bao ratios and delightfully soft, fluffy, and moist buns but I'm not in any rush to run back here unless it's specifically for that Buttermilk Bao.

It has been awhile since I last visited. The 'Bao' are still yummy. We had the BBQ pork bun which was packed inside full of meat in a sweet sauce. There's a good selection and food is served hot. We brought our mom here to get her thoughts. She makes Bao herself and is a tough critic on Asian food. She loved their baos! Their baos are based from a homemade recipe from Malaysia. Great job on the baos! There is metered parking on the street. A small place with friendly service and good ambience. I highly recommend their baos!

Wanted to try this place since there's been many good reviews. I dropped my fiancé off to do her workout fairly nearby so I thought I'd get some bao! I saw that they had a deal for buy 12 get two free. So I went with that and bought 3 pork deluxe, 3 chicken, 3 pork and pickle, 3 BBQ pork and two of their new pork belly bao. I've tried only two but wanted to write now before I forget the taste. I tried the belly belly bao first. Oooh so yummy, the pork fat nice and well fatty! With a decent piece of meat attached. I feel overall it was good could use a bit more but it was delicious. The bun on this bao is a bit more firm/dense than of the other bao I tried but it is soft to bite into and with the bite of fatty belly and vin together you get a delightful mouth full. Yum! The next bao I tried was the chicken bao, it has a nice deep brown colored filling and with scallions all throughout. It's very moist and had a pleasant taste. Again the combo of bun to filling in your mouth is so yummy. The BBQ pork bao isn't the typical flavour I find in other bao that I've bought, not as sweet but sweet enough and slightly different flavor but tasty. The deluxe pork bao has a quarter slice of boiled egg..I agree with another reviewer that it would taste so much better if it was a salted duck egg but I do know those are more expensive. Overall imo I like the flavor with the egg more than I would without so If I bought bao again I'd still buy the deluxe rather than the regular but if you don't feel it's worth the extra ¢ then don't do it lol. The last bao was the pork and pickle, tasted like it's described.. Classic Asian flavour mix nothing special about this, tasted good just like the rest. Overall I like the bao, they have decent amount of filling.. Though i wish there was like a table spoon more then it'd be perfect. But otherwise very decent bao.

Such a good place to get bao! On our trip to Vancouver, we came here twice. My favorite bao would be BBQ Deluxe although they were all really good. The BBQ Deluxe has beef in it. The Pork Delicious or Pork Deluxe is good too. The difference is the Pork Deluxe has an egg in it. I also like the Belly Belly Pork which has pork belly in it. They're quite filling. I think 2 is enough for me. You could buy more and save it for later (although I prefer it being fresh). They have a buy 12 get 2 free special. Overall the breading of the bao is fluffy and the meat inside is flavorful. There's paid street parking and there's also a parking lot that you can park at.

So their two famous bao are the Pork Deluxe ($3.25 each)and BBQ Delight ($2.50 each). We got 3 Pork Deluxe and 2 BBQ Delight. I like the Pork Deluxe. It has water chestnut in it to give it the crunch. Also they are quite generous with the meat. I like it! The Bao here is Malaysian style Chinese Bao. So its very different than if you went to the HK Canto bao place. I had a quick chat with the owner and they opened slightly over a year. The store is small, so many people actually misses it. Also, I only found out about this place through Yelp. I passed by so many time and have never noticed. Owner very friendly. Also their bao are made fresh daily. You have to come early, they do run out. Malay Chinese style Bao is quite unique

In need of steamed buns? Head to The Bao Place. A friend and I were staying in Burnaby. We didn't have roaming data, so everywhere we went, we had to plan beforehand and download google maps. We were down a main street looking for a bank to convert money. I was walking and noticed people coming out of a building with huge bao buns, so I had to stop in. It was a small shop with probably 3 tables. The menu is small, with about 8 savory buns, 3 dessert buns, and basic drinks. The buns range from $2.75-3.50. I ordered one pork deluxe bun and a pickled pork bun. I live with so much regret now, because I should have bought more. They were delicious. The buns were slightly bigger than the palm of my hand. The dough was soft, but not too thick. The filling was like a juicy pork ball wrapped around a hard boiled egg. All that porky goodness soaked into the inside of the dough. They definitely don't skimp on the filling either. Oh man, the mom and pop shops are always the way to go.

Hot & sour soup - better than the competition. Not sure what's special about it, but it stood out. Chongqing deluxe fried rice - one of their signature dishes. Great mix of flavour. Crispy rice with shrimp soup - honestly this would be the one dish that wasn't that great. Rice blocks were crispy, but the shrimp soup was nothing special. I'd skip this dish. Other than the crispy rice, everything is pretty standard compared to similar places out there. Expectations were met. Very good value. I'd gladly eat here again. Recommended.

They're a Northern Chinese spot that specializes in Guangxi cuisine and located right next to Onezo Tapioca. Even though it closes at 9:00pm, there were still people after us that came in for late night eats. We didn't have any issues with service; they came by to fill our tea several times. Just wish they gave bigger cups. Food comes out in a hurry. The menu is short and sweet: noodles, rice meals, appetizers, wontons and drinks. Trip #1 First visit was on a late Wednesday evening (around 8:30pm). - Mama's unique special milk tea ($4.80) - we added grass jelly ($0.50) which was unfortunately from a can. The milk tea was different than the norm as there was sweet fermented rice bits mixed in. Decent but don't think we'd get it again. - Sour and spicy crystal noodle ($6.98) - glass noodles with minced pork, bean sprouts, cilantro and peanuts. We got our dish medium spicy which was mild. Broth was excellently balanced; loved the sour notes. Glass noodles had a satisfying bite and cilantro added freshness to the bowl. - House special escargot rice noodles in spicy noodles ($13.98) - escargot, pig ear, beef, tofu, marinated egg, shrimp and pork intestine. There was also pickled green beans, bamboo shoots, tofu skins, wood ear mushrooms and peanuts. Really different with a good variety of textures and flavour. Loved all the types of meat, especially the tender beef, pork intestine and pig ear. Escargot was tasty but we wanted more. The tofu skin and wood ear mushrooms underneath were excellent. - Fresh meat wonton ($5.98) - this comes in a light broth with 15 homemade wontons, pickled seaweed and baby dried shrimp. Broth is basic but the wontons are great. Trip #2 Second trip was on a Friday evening (around 8:00pm). - Braised beef, pig ear and tofu ($10.98) - the beef is the same as what you get in their noodle bowls. Pig ear wasn't crunchy but the sauce (some sort of Chinese mushroom) was good. Tofu was fairly standard. For the price, it's a small dish; I didn't think it was worth it. - Shredded chicken, vegetable and cold noodle with house sauce ($9.53) - they asked us how spicy we wanted it; we went with spicy. Again, it's not so don't worry. The noodles were thin and the sauce was almost like a dan dan mein. We liked how it wasn't overwhelmingly peanuty. - Beef and escargot rice noodle in spicy soup ($9.98) - the beef is super tender. Again, the escargots are hard to find but everything else in this bowl is delicious. Tofu skin, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, peanuts and pickled green beans. Satisfying and spiciness finally came through. An interesting twist to the usual Northern Chinese spots typically found in town. Cash or debit only.

They tend to stick together and aren't very to-go friendly. #14 is the star here, and it's absolutely worth coming back for.
