What wonderful proprietors! From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted and treated as family. My brother and I had been reminiscing about the best bagel & lox we had enjoyed across the country, including Alaska & Hawaii, when he mentioned a bagel place nearby he had been wanting to try. I walked in to order a blueberry bagel and a bagel w/ lox & all the trimmings and, despite a small payment issue (mine), I walked out with a great story and a new favorite bagel place. I must also send out a thank you to the 2 gentlemen behind me who offered to cover my shortfall. As for the bagels, you won't find better ones anywhere. The lox "sandwich" was everything we hoped and more. A generous amount of lox, and fresh quality fixings to complement it. Have been going to the Bagel Man for over 6 years and feel bad that I did not do a review in all that time. Have had made at least 40 -50 or more trips to get their delicious bagels. Being from NYC I am very picky and have never had a bad bagel from the bagel man. Their cream cheese spread are also very good and a nice variety. Have moved 3 1/2 hours from there 2 years ago but still make several trips whenever I can to pick up dozens of bagels to bring home from our trips. Good NY style bagels. The taste and quality of the bagels are excellent. I have had issues with their availability. I finally tried them after 4 visits of closures. They are closed sundays which makes no sense to me for a bagel place. I visited on three other days they were supposed to be open and they were closed for no apparent reason on two, and another they posted a sign stating vacation. So the 5th time seems the charm. I suggest you call to verify if they are open before going as they are unreliable. They are only open 6am-11am. I arrived at 10 am and they only had three varieties left, so if you want variety, get there early. The flavored cream cheeses seem to be hand made and were excellent, generous portion. As I was pedaling on the stationary bike at the gym, I glanced over at my phone to find a recommendation from Yelp and it was no other than The Bagel Man. I had heard about this place from a coworker, who specified this place is legit. As I continued biking, I debated whether I should neglect the granola bar that I bought for breakfast after my workout to go The Bagel Man. I complied with myself. I should get a treat for working out, am I right? As I exited the gym, I learned that The Bagel Man is two doors down! It couldn't be more perfect. The place is small and barely has enough standing room. The bagels are plump and come in a variety of flavors. Since they boil the bagels, it has a nice shiny and chewy exterior and a nice, soft and chewy interior. All of their cream cheeses are made in-house. I was intrigued by the veggie cream cheese and the lox cream cheese. I opted for the everything bagel, veggie cream cheese and lox. It was fairly price at 8 dollars but in the pricing's defense, you get a fair amount of lox on the bagel. I certainly couldn't eat the whole thing, let alone a half of the sandwich for breakfast. Biting into the bagel and getting to the soft center of the bagel was divine. The veggies in the cream cheese gave additional textures and flavors to the bagel. They added capers with the lox to give a salty brine flavor. After that experience, I regret not buying some bagels to take home. You can get a dozen of bagels for $12, and when the bagels are gone, they're gone (for the day)! read more

A bagel is a special treat in our house and ever since we've moved down to Ahwatukee we've lost the best spot to get our favorite Lox and Bagel. Just a quick walk up order at the counter. Wasn't overly busy around 8:30am on a Thursday. But a good flow of people in and out. I'm glad! I want this place to be properly patronized. The pricing and portions are GENEROUS but also so tasty. After a nice hike, I stopped into this bagel shop in Ahwatukee. I've had bagels in NYC before and this is as close as it gets in AZ. There is usually a line, but it does move and it's worth the wait. Owner Kal Salih started making bagels in New Jersey before opening this shop around 10 years ago. The Bagel Man sticks to making bagels the old-fashioned way. They are really fresh and delicious here. I ordered the Scrambled Egg Breakfast Sandwich with Taylor Ham. Taylor Ham is actually a brand of pork roll. This sandwich is popular in Jersey and is one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches. That little saltiness from the pork roll really adds some nice flavor. This was a nice little find and I look forward to a future stop. read more

The man who was ringing me up is always trying to be funny (I guess that's what that is?) and he was saying something about a $5 bagel and I was like yeah, whatever and then he said something about a $5 napkin and I really just wanted him to stop talking at me and I said no. He took my card and didn't show me the screen until he charged and he legit charged me $5 for a bagel. The moment you walk in you're instantly taken to a New York style bagel shop. The outside of the bagel is crispy enough to give you a crunch in every bite, where the inside is soft fluffy and well cooked through, when partnered with their homemade classic New York style cream cheese lathered in the center of the bagel! SO YUM and mouth watering every time. The coffee cake is unlike ANY other I've ever had. From the cinnamon and sugar topping crumbling into your mouth, to the moist decadent cake underneath it'll leave a little powered sugar stash on your lip! So worth it!! My favorite place to get bagels in Phoenix! They boil and bake and you always get the perfect bagel! I really try to get their early to make sure there's enough for me to grab, but there's always a line out the door (even pre-COVID / social distancing)!
