Finally after being 3-4 months past due (8 months total), we decided to switch from a shoulder mount to an antler mount to speed things up. The extended turn time wasn't ideal, but that was NOT the main issue. The main issue was after making this switch, John explained that the new price was going to be $120. Upon me dropping off the deer, he asked for a $150 deposit. I gave him $200 because we didn't have exact change at the time. I then return to pick up the antler mount, but John goes on to tell me that he has changed his mind and is keeping the entire $200 (the $150 deposit along with the extra $50). He acknowledged remembering that he told me that I would be getting back $80, but went on to tell me that due to other customers "screwing him and making their problems his problems", he decided to take that out on me and keep the $80 overage I paid him (including the $50 additional I gave him on top of the required deposit). I then asked him, what if I would have given $300 or $400 when I dropped it off? He said he would keep it all regardless of the amount for no other reason than other people have been screwing him left and right. Bottom line, there are WAY too many other honest taxidermists out there that do great work and are extremely professional than to put yourself through dealing with this individual
