Joy does NOT have the ability to do your work for you and lastly Joy does NOT by any means sell herself short on the services that she provides. Joy, you are an absolute god send. Seriously.... I have been thru various counseling all of my life but that didn't resolve my issues nor did it really give me the tools needed to actually resolve them. So since I had tried that previously and pretty much got the same result, I knew I had to try something different. So, what did I do? I went to my trusty yelp and reached out and received several responses. I had a few phone interviews because I needed to find the right person to help me thru some heavy stuff. I liked Joy right off the bat. You can simply tell by the tone in her voice that she is an angel. I signed up for 6 sessions with Joy...and after my 6th session, I signed up for 6 more. And I threw Joy some crazy challenges (nothing in my life has EVER been easy)....there were issues that she flat out told me she couldn't do anything about (I appreciate the honestly more than you know) and there were some issues where I really feel like I challenged her but guess what? SHE NEVER GAVE UP ON ME. SHE NEVER TOLD ME SHE COULDN'T WITHOUT AN EXPLANATION (again she doesn't have a magic wand). Instead what I received was far far greater than any gift...Joy gave me the tools I needed to see where my deficiencies came from and also gave me some positive insight as to how to fix the behaviors and this is something I now work on EVERY SINGLE DAY and it's made me a better person. So if you feel like you are stuck, and don't know where to go, and you have tried traditional methods (and they haven't really worked) I would seriously urge you to give Joy a call...set up and appointment and more importantly work on your (O&*%(Q*&)%(. However, if you have a good attitude and are willing to do the work, you can do it. The therapists are collaborative and help you breakdown personal goals for yourself with you so that you're not overwhelming yourself and to take incremental steps to your overarching goal. I am deeply appreciative of the therapist I worked with, the other therapists and Dr. Z - you can tell they care about helping you. I would say the main issue we have had is the therapist canceling an obscene amount of sessions. It doesn't feel like the management or the therapist have a very serious attendance policy, in the field they are in CONSISTENCY is number 1. Please explain and reiterate in HIRING, TRAINING and WHILE IN THE FIELD how important attendance is. I had the summer camp staff my child attended with her therapist comment multiple times on how often they canceled sessions. Secondly, I have to reiterate dates, requests or even sessions with our BCBA's (case manager) multiple times. Its super frustrating to have to feel as though you are coordinating and reminding the person driving the ship. I really dont have a lot negative to say about the therapist, we did have one that really didn't work out but we have also had a lot of really great ones. ABA Therapy is a journey and you REALLY have to be on top of things everyday or you aren't going to have a good experience. IMO

Simple things like the start date, structure, and what to expect were all met with "I'll have to ask/ I'll get back to you." The consultation didn't provide any real information and only led to me being told to email my insurance cards and date of birth so they could get back to me. I sent my private information immediately in the same email thread we had already been using. They received it but never responded. After two weeks of complete silence, I followed up. No reply. I called and left messages. Still nothing. For a place offering mental health services, this behavior is absolutely not trauma informed care. Ignoring someone who is actively reaching out for support after collecting their personal information is unprofessional, dismissive, and unacceptable. This experience was a waste of time and a major red flag. Avoid this place.
