The building is stunning and the displays are pure art. The docents are incredibly knowledgeable and provide you with an abundance of information. My only complaint is that the exterior of this beautiful shrine is marred by ugly QR code banners which make it impossible to take a good photo of the exterior. I also hope they remove 'The 1619 Project' from its prominent display as it has been widely discredited and is a real insult to the 360,000 Union Soldiers who sacrificed their lives - as did Lincoln - to eradicate slavery from our country.

It's a small museum with three separate rooms. There's a fun Morse code activity and some paper and colors to draw with. I'd say it's a place for fifth graders and up. I attended an event as a chaperone with the kids from Micah House, and from the moment you walk in, the Burrage Mansion is stunning. The steps leading up to the home and the beautifully preserved historic house immediately set the tone. The property owner generously hosts events here, and one of the annual events is a Christmas celebration for elementary school kids. He opens up the entire estate for the children to enjoy crafts, a magic show, bounce houses, and even a visit with Santa Claus. There are also two rooms filled with presents where each child gets to choose a gift, which was incredibly special to see. It was such a thoughtful, joyful, and memorable experience for everyone involved. I'm not sure what other events are hosted here, but based on this experience alone, the Burrage Mansion absolutely deserves five stars.

This is one of Big Bear Lake's historial landmarks. Frank Brown built this in 1884 to supply…read moreirrigation water for the Redlands area. This is described to be single-arch and made of granite. Back in the day, it was the world's largest man-made lake. It has a nice scenic view, good for taking photos. I saw some people stand on some of the rock formations trying to get nice shots. Just be careful that you don't trip since there are no railings/fences. There's a few parking spots only. We were lucky to find one right away. Step inside the Fontana Historical Society's small research library building. It is manned by a…read moresmall group of dedicated volunteers who grew up and still live in this city and who will make you feel quite welcome. They are always looking for new members. In other words, sure hope you will donate your time because there is always way too much to accomplish. This building was originally the real estate building for promoting moving to Fontana at the turn of the 20th Century, owned and run by Fontana's founder, A B Miller. Now, it stores newspapers and other memorabilia that anyone can use for research purposes, and provides workspace for organizing community events. One of the properties they proudly care for is the Pepper House Museum, located nearby. Last Friday I went online to find out all the documents I needed to get my business license. I…read moregathered all the documents and headed to the Hesperia City Hall. Everything was going smoothly until the clerk requested a document that wasn't listed online. Ok maybe it was and I just didn't see it. oops. Well no problem, I made a phone call and worked that out. After getting that document. I was hit with another surprise. Although it states if you are a nonprofit organization with 501c3 status the fee is $0, I had to pay a one time fee of $46 dollars. It wasn't a lot of money so it was no problem. Like they say, nothing in life is free. Overall I had a wonderful experience. I was happy that I received what I came for. The female clerk at the front entrance was very nice and showed me where I needed to go. The female clerk that helped me was very friendly, informative and patient. There were no long lines. The line actually moved quickly. Ohhhhh, before I left, I went to use the ladies room and I was shocked but impressed by something that i thought was amazing. All my germofobes will understand what I'm talking about. lol When i was exciting the ladies room I noticed that they have a handle on the door for people to use their arm to open the door so you won't have to touch the handle. That was cool. I wish every public restroom had that. I'm actually looking to invest in one for my business. Thanks HCH for giving me that idea. See you next year at renewal time.

Dr. King is shown walking alongside two children, a deliberate nod to his hope that one day kids would be judged by their character rather than the color of their skin. Reinertson actually worked with two local children from the community who posed for the piece, which makes it feel rooted in Riverside itself rather than just a generic tribute. The granite base reads "I HAVE A DREAM," and there's something quietly moving about reading those words in stone while City Hall hums along in the background -- a reminder that the work Dr. King spoke of is still ongoing. What I appreciate most is that this isn't an isolated monument. It sits along the Main Street pedestrian mall, part of a small walking museum that also includes tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Dosan Ahn Chang Ho, and Eliza Tibbets -- figures connected by their fight for justice and dignity in different corners of the world. In 2023, the city completed an enhancement project around the monument, giving the space a more intentional setting for reflection. It's free, peaceful, and easy to visit, with benches nearby if you want to just sit for a minute. I never feel rushed here. It's the kind of place that asks something of you -- not much, just a pause -- and gives you a little perspective in return.
