I first reviewed this restaurant 10 years ago. Yikes! 10 years. The menu has changed slightly but the basics are there. I enjoy their cold coffees and freshly made food: the Greek or Mediterranean toast with olives and feta is my favor: you'll be surprised how filled up you get. The service is what it is. Please when it's time to order and when they bring the food but that's okay. There's nothing formal about this place. It's cozy and beautiful with the greenery. This place is really magical. Food is super fresh and yummy. Service is a bit impersonal as you order on your own and it's brought to you. Food runners were not the most helpful on my visit. Condiments are self serve in packages placed around the dining areas inside and outside. I had the Chef's Breakfast which is a hash brown waffle topped with two fried eggs, avocado salad (literally mashed avocado with pico mixed) and bacon bits. Super filling and yummy yet light. I also got an Oreo iced coffee to go and it was a delicious treat! There is a cool courtyard with another restaurant next door and an older warehouse behind that with resellers of homewares, odds and ends and an incredible record store to rummage through with some very amazing and rare finds called Vinyl Locoz. The genuinely kind greetings from the owner and the warm interactions with her servers immediately placed this restaurant at the top of the charts. I opted for the Chef's Breakfast. A unique and delicious combo of a Tater Tot waffle with eggs, avocado, bacon and Pico de Gallo. The drip coffee was rich and flavorful. Since I shamelessly mentioned that it was my actual birthday, I was treated to a song from the staff and a scrumptious dessert. An apple and nut pocket pastry with blueberries and strawberries. Servers were attentive - except for the wrong drink - way too sweet, and lactose milk. This lactose intolerant and diabetic will suffer for a couple days. $23 for a muffin sandwich I couldn't eat. If I were abroad, this would make sense, but in Florida? In this heat? No thanks. I'd come back, but only for takeout. They do offer vegan donuts from a local vendor, but I didn't care for them--the texture was more like cake than the soft, doughy texture of a traditional donut. One more note: the self-serve water container is kept outside, which isn't ideal. The Alchemist is a gem of Fort Lauderdale. Over the years and all my visits there, the service, food, and drinks have never disappointed. On this given Sunday, I tried some new things: the English muffin and passion fruit iced tea. Both were great; the English muffin was soft and the turkey bacon and turkey deli slices were delicious (plus, I love alfalfa sprouts). The passion fruit iced tea was refreshing, fresh, and perfectly sweetened. Also pictured but not tried: the Nutella slicer, which I was told was amazing. And as always, there was plenty of seating outside where I enjoyed all of this. I hope the Alchemist lives forever. read more

We went to the Alchemist based on its great reviews. They have a really cute outdoor seating area that feels like a garden. It is dog-friendly, too. There is a rooster or chicken roaming around, so keep that in mind if your dog will try to bark at it. You order at the counter, and they bring the food and drinks out to you. We ordered dine-in, and they brought 3 of our 4 meals out and completely forgot about the 4th, so everyone was waiting for me to finally get my sandwich (that we had to remind them about). We ordered a second time to get a to-go sandwich, and they also forgot about our second order. It was a little chaotic, and we ended up waiting a long time. The food itself was good. I had the croissant breakfast sandwich with egg and avocado. The waffle hash brown was probably the highlight! It was delicious and crispy. I also got the Alchemist iced coffee and got it half-sweet, and that was very good! Loved the iced coffee. We had an apple cookie that was yummy. We thought it was very funny that they said they could cut it into 4 pieces for us to split, and they cut it like strips of cookie instead of 4 equal pieces. Still tasted delish! Entering Alchemist, you immediately see this huge menu board, which I thought was a great idea, know what you want before you order. I loved how open the space was; it felt very chill and free. The person at the counter had a very nice and bubbly personality and was super patient with me since it was my first time. I ended up ordering the chicken and waffle (which I'm a huge sucker for) with a side of eggs and açaí iced tea, and my wife ordered the chef's breakfast. I did notice this restaurant was very environmentally conscious, from the plates to the biodegradable cutlery, so if you're the kind of person that appreciates that, then this is a plus. The chicken and waffles were good. I did see on the menu that the chicken is air-fried, which, for being air-fried, was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. 9/10 The açaí iced tea tasted fresh. It was not overloaded with sugar and had just the right kind of sweetness. 9/10 I tried the chef's breakfast, which is a hash brown waffle with eggs, guacamole, bacon bits, and cilantro. Mannn, this was sooo sooo good. 10/10 recommend. This place is known for their potato waffle (basically a hash brown in the shape of a waffle). Plus, I had to try the iced coffee with coffee ice cubes! The food came out pretty quick. Best coffee and food of the trip! Warm greeting with good vibe energy. We had their signature drink, the Alchemist cold brew and it was not too bold, just right. The menu has several options, we chose the Salmon Slicer with goat cheese, perfectly cooked where the bread was crispy but not chewy. We chose the waffle of the day with fruit, waffle was so tasty that it did not need syrup and was the right amount of sweet. Where to even begin! My friend and I were in town from Albuquerque New Mexico two days prior to our cruise. After looking for a breakfast place, I stumbled upon this little GEM! At first sight, you're blown away by the beautiful greenery, the ambiance, and when you walk in the door they tell you welcome home! Home run right off the start. The customer service was spot on, friendly, and fast. The bulletproof coffee that they're famous for is hands down incredible! If I could ship it to New Mexico, I would! Definitely definitely worth a try. I had the breakfast sandwich on a croissant it was really good with a fresh fruit salad that was very fresh. My friend had avocado toast and it looked like two avocados had been smashed up and placed on top of this piece of toast. It is really good.
