This race was on Labor Day and has been going on since 1960! Hosted by the Columbia Track Club,…read moreit's truly a gem in the state of Missouri. The start was 6am and although that might seem early, it gets just about as hot here as in South Florida, so that early start was very welcome knowing the heat index would rise rapidly as the sun would begin to set towards the middle to end of my race. This race course had 5 significant climbs spaced equally throughout the course. Aid stations were more frequent towards the last 13.1 miles which also made sense due to the increased heat. It's a challenging course and the heat is definitely a factor! Aid stations had both water, blue Gatorade, and fruit such as orange wedges, red grapes and banana slices. Due to the heat and humidity I would recommend bringing salt tablets to counter act the liquids you will be drinking. This helps to prevent bloating which I felt as I was taking on too many liquids on this course. I also love the price of this race! For $50 I received a Brooks tech technical shirt, an Age Group Awards Plaque for winning my age bracket (40-44), a beautiful finisher medal, entry to a post race pizza at a local restaurant, and tons of aid station support with drink and fuel, and post race cookies and more food and drinks, and lots of moral boosters with super friendly encouraging volunteers. Compared to other marathons this is definitely one of the best values in the country!

ACTIVITIES- Bowling at Fulton Bowling Center was great! They have good amount of bowling lanes and…read morearcade games to play. They also have a pool table and air hockey table! It is easy to have a great time there, you can bowl and then continue your visit with games that you can play alone and with friends. A good thing about the bowling lanes is that the bumpers can go up and down for each bowler. Any younger children can use the bumpers and they can go right back down for anyone who doesn't need them, and without hassle too! A downside to bowling is that it is hard to find the lighter bowling balls, I could find plenty of balls over 12 pounds, but almost nothing under that. I found them eventually but it was not easy. SERVICE- All employees I encountered were very kind and friendly. I had no problem whatsoever with any of the service. OVERALL- Overall, I would definitely recommend the Fulton Bowling Center if you want to have a fun night! There are lots of food and drinks available, bowling, and many fun games. It is everything you would want in a good hangout spot! The facility seems a bit run down, but it is very clean. Happy Bowling xoxo.

Bordered on one side by Kelley Creek and on another by Silver Fork Creek, the two streams have been slowly pinching the mass of Burlington limestone separating them, a highly reactive stone that's dissolved by moving water. Some parts of the stone were even carved out entirely, creating little tunnel-like windows dotting the vertical rock face. From the parking area, it is a short walk past picnic shelters and some benches down to the water's edge where you can wade across or just look up at the amazing rock structures. There are hiking trails throughout the park and I saw a number of folks walking, some with dogs. I read that there's a good amount of poison ivy along the trails, so I didn't take a chance. Also, some of the walking looked uneven and following the usual rule of "Never hike alone" I decided not to risk a twisted ankle with no help. At the creek's edge, I was able to find enough stones to make a pretty rock stack. I wonder if it's still there today. [Review 19735 overall - 212 in Missouri - 707 of 2023.]

Soon they were disappointed because the diving boards were closed off. The lifeguard says that there was "too many chemicals and that they couldn't see below the waters surface." I hope the boards will be open the next time we come.
