Beer was dang good.. the building is amazing. The food sucks!! Just being honest. I would come back.. but not for the food.

This place is very new to Townsend and it deserves attention. They have a great selection of beers, cider and made from scratch food. We discovered this place on our trip to the Scottish Highland Games. We loved the food and entertainment. read more

After a day spent exploring the area, we stopped into the Abbey for a drink and a bite to eat. Service was awesome and super friendly. Beer selection was decent. Food was pretty basic bar food (pizza, wings, salad, pretzel) but all served fresh and hot. Indoor and outdoor seating with some tables overlooking the river. Local band playing (a bit loud as they came inside due to rain) but still a fun atmosphere. read more

I found this jewel while researching venues in Townsend. We popped in on a Thursday, looking to relax. This was absolute perfection. Our bartender was knowledgeable and hospitable- offering samples as we perused the menu. Great selection of craft beers and ciders - something for everyone. The good was fantastic! Perfect relaxing spot with great beer and food! It was definitely worth the 35 minute drive from our cabin in pigeon forge. We had the wings, loaded hot dog, and tater tots. They were all great and were large servings! We were able to have our dog on their patio and enjoyed watching the people float by in tubes on the river. Highly recommend! read more

What a great casual drinking (and eating) spot! The fella and I hiked all day and were super excited to head here as our reward. We were incredibly pleased to see that they were following COVID protocols - tables were spaced, the bar had plexiglass, and they encouraged masks. We sat outside at a table under an umbrella and relaxed with our beers, watching people tubing down the river. We wound up getting food - chicken tenders and tots - and it was tasty. Great location right on the water. Good place to experience local culture. Food was ok. I had pork ribs special they had good flavor and pulled off the bone. Website was not updated with musicians. We were hoping to see banjo player. When we arrived a different musician was playing when we asked about the banjo player employees had no idea. read more

My girlfriend and I got into Townsend right around the time most places were closing, we were about 6 minutes away from this place (which ended up being how long our order took to cook!) and called them up for to go. They were so, so nice and hospitable even over the phone. Our food was done quickly and was AMAZING. When I walked in to pick up my order, they knew me by name and were very kind. We got the cheese pizza, the pepperoni pizza, the chicken salad sandwich, and the pretzels with beer cheese. Everything was amazing, and the pizza is some of the best I've ever had. This week we traveled to Townsend for a week long vacation. After exploring different eating establishments, we decided that the Abbey was one of our favorites. The outside patio by the river was perfect for a relaxing meal and a taste of the many beers that they have on tap. You've got to try their yummy flatbread pizza and beer cheese and pretzels! We are looking forward to visiting there on our next vacay to Tenessee! read more

If you enjoy sitting outside overlooking the River and enjoying local beer and a little food, this is that kind of place. Ribs are amazing and chicken salad was great. Long long lines, they could use a new system for that, but may have been short staffed like so many other places. Friendly helpful staff who were working very hard. Very cool spot along the river. We got some great blackberry ciders and listened to the live music. It was pretty crowded since it was a Friday night, but was worth the wait. We got chicken wings (I recommend the thai chili sauce with them!) and the pulled pork sandwich and these were great as well. My boyfriend and I have passed this place many times on our trips to Townsend so we finally decided to stop today. Was not disappointed and wish we had come sooner. Great Beer pretzels and cheese and the flatbread pizzas are a very good deal and will fill you up. Tennessee beers on tap along with a few ciders and wine. This was a very unusual place. We went in the front door and were greeted by pews. We had no idea what to do - wait for someone to approach us, venture into another room. We didn't know so we went into an adjoining room and still didn't know what to do. Seems you have to approach the bar and place and order for your drinks and leave your credit card if you want to run a tab. That's where you also ordered your food. Then you had your choice to eat inside or go outside. We went outside to eat and had horribly uncomfortable metal chairs to sit in. Being short, this was a very tall chair for me & it also was very narrow in the back. I finally got a stool to sit on which was still very tall. The food was very good, but it is just a very strange place with no one to give direction to people entering the place. They also tacked on a 4% fee if you used a credit card to make up for the fee charged by the credit card company. I was told the fee is usually about 2%, not 4%. So that meant we paid with cash which we don't carry a lot with us because we use our credit cards. So that meant no tip for anybody. I would not go back. There are better places to eat in Townsend that aren't so confusing and who don't keep your credit card until you pay for your meal and drinks. They need to make some changes, maybe lock the front door and force people to use the alternate door where they are people who can help you if you ask that is. read more

Just discovered this place while spending a month in Townsend. A superb selection of local craft beers on tap. Bartender is very knowledgeable about what she is pouring. The menu is limited but we found the flat bread pizzas and wings very good. Staff very friendly. Highly recommended and will definitely go again next time we are in the area. read more
