Head down the stairs and go straight on. If you hit the wall, you've gone too far. You'll only find the latest best sellers, or some of the classics, along with a few children's books, but if you, like me, enjoy leafing through a book, rather than buying online, then it's a nice place to go. That said, they often move things around, and that's annoying. They have a good ordering service, and do gift vouchers. They aren't like gift vouchers in the UK, you can only use them in this shop.

The goods sold are surplus or slightly damaged, so do not expect the full range of a well-stocked bookstore. But what is lacking in variety, Jokers makes up in price. If you are looking for a gift, this might be the right place for books (small paperbacks to large coffee table volumes), CDs (music and audio books) and DVDs. However, if it is meant to be a present, make sure that it is not one with Mängelexemplar stamped in large letters on the cover (it means faulty, with [small] imperfections). You can, after all, find books here that don't cry cheap and discount. Oh yes, and they do have a section of English books as well.

A great find in Darmstadt, nice big record selection, great CD selection (due to travel space…read morelimits I gravitated to CDs but my search through the LPs would have had me buying a load if I'd had the space). Friendly staff, lots of DVDs & Blu Rays and game stuff. A sizable and enjoyable shop. Strongly recommended.
