I was driving around in the area looking for a carwash & everyone was busy had long lines and the ones which were free had really bad reviews. Just came across this gas station had hand car wash. I checked had good reviews and only one car ahead of me. I checked in dropped my car, the owner said you can go and get some breakfast or coffee as it takes time to get the job done. I walked around to breakfast place and spent about 40 min and came back the car was still going through cleaning. After 20 min it was ready, to my surprise, the car was really squicky clean and for few days people who sat in my car commented that where did you get this cleaned from. I can't believe I actually yelped a place to wash my car around the neighborhood... you just gotta love Yelp! I passed my a few car wash places around my area but they were either closed for President's Day or had a 3 hour wait to get your car washed. Crazy! Came to Thala Gas Station because it had good reviews on their car washing services. They did not disappoint. It was a 15 min wait and the guy said I could just come back in an hour and it should be done. Perfect for me. I decided to get a pedicure a block down Came back, car is looking all shiny and the inside is free of dog hair and other things. Squeaky clean. The service was super nice and now I know where to go when I wanna get a car wash. Oh did I forget to say it was only $20? read more

I rented a U-haul from here and it honestly the worst rental experience I have ever had. I picked up the car early in the morning. I checked the outside for dings and damages, but I did not check, rather SMELL, the inside of the back of the van until I got to my location. The person before me obviously used the van to transport fish, and the van truck floor was wet and covered with fish guts. It smelled DISGUSTING!!! I had no choice to swing back and return the van right away. I was already across the bridge, at my work event, participated in the event, before I opened the back, noticed the smell, and then drove the 45 minutes back to Astoria. I was not able to use it for my intended box moving!! I brought the van back to my location 8 hours before I was supposed to and told them they rented me a seriously bad, vomit-inducing van. At first, he wanted to charge ME for the cleaning!! I could not believe it. Then, he refused to give me any discount on the van because I "still used it" and "could have returned it right away." I could not have, as I drove this to a work event and did not open the trunk until much later in the day. The miles on the car were to my event, and straight back, even if it was 6 hours later. This place is seriously bad and will rip you off. It is THEIR job to clean the inside of the car if it's returned in that condition from a previous renter. Please avoid Thala gas station and the attendant Sandor Szini, who was incredible rude. Terrible, terrible. read more

I have been there several times to have my car washed and it's definitely one of the best places near Astoria. They are quick, but that doesn't take the quality away from their work. The price is extremely good for having a car completely hand washed. The courtesy with the clients is always present and definitely appreciated. Sometimes you have to wait a little because they can only wash 2 cars at a time, but the wait is definitely worth it. read more

It was a mistake going back to this place. I paid $70 (VIP) for my SUV to be literally disrespected. I brought my SUV to be cleaned at around 6pm and was told to come back after an hour. I decided to stay while the guy cleaned my SUV and saw how this guy rushed to clean it. He power washed all the door-sides including the trunk and got the speakers wet including areas of the carpet near it. I saw how he just pour a pail of water with soap to my SUV and literally used the same cloth that he used with the mats to the SUV's interior (seats, dashboard, etc.). I also literally need to remind him to put wax and tire shine. He did not clean the exterior well, as well as the wheels. He left the passenger belt so filthy. Instead of a customer leaving Thala happy and satisfied, this guy gave me a big headache to find a good place to have my SUV clean again or maybe even gets detailed because he did not do his job well. This place does not even deserve a single star. I attached some pictures I took the day after my SUV was cleaned. If you guys want your car to be disrespected, leave unsatisfied with a filthy car and waste money, I recommend this place. read more

Wow this place is legit... my car was beyond filthy, between all of the pollen and pigeons that had a field day on my car, I was desperate for a good wash. They hand washed my car and it came out absolutely amazing. Super shiny and no streaks. Took about 20 minutes but so worth it. $15 for exterior and $25 for both interior and exterior. The attendant says there is NO car washing when it rains, so it's not 8 am to 8 pm everyday. Don't go on a rainy day. Plus, they don't pick up the phone, so you can't call ahead. We went to Thala's today and wasted a trip. We tried calling several times this morning but to no avail. It's too bad because the guy who does the cleaning is super thorough. Let me start by saying, You get what you pay for. So yes it is 20 dollars for a full Interior Exterior Handwash. It's like 15 for only interior, They do take their time and do a decent Job. I took my car in on a sunny Sunday Noon. I guess because it was so Sunny I can definitely see all the spots they Missed. I don't know I expected much more from this place, given the reviews and all. I can see the guy did try to do a good job but overall missed lots of spots I would have otherwise thought were obvious that needed cleaning. Wait was minimal, and wash takes about an hour. Brought my car here that was looking like I went through an off road safari adventure. It was filthy. Told me a half an hour it would be ready, came back in 45 min and they were still working on it. Went back to ask after 25 minutes and was told the wait would be another 20 minutes. I was the only car waiting, would have been nice to know the wait was 45 minutes before I wasted my time. The attendant was curt and barely made eye contact, telling me I had to do everything online. Before I even finished my sentence, he turned away to do something else. Maybe just busy?
