And for a good reason! Inside the atmosphere is great. Very colourful. When the temperature is great, you can sit outside on the terrace. But even if you sit inside with the great weather, the big windows are open, so it feels like you're outside. The list of cocktails and green teas is long. The menu is divided in different stages. They have a lunch, an after work and a diner menu. The restaurant is open almost the whole day. Very pleasant if you are like me and you have to get up at a rediculous time. You choose a dish and than decide if you would like to have it with tofu, chicken, beef etc. It tastes so good! I was there with a colleague and we shared the starters mix platter. We had saté, spring rolls, a kind of dim sum and a salad in rice paper. As a main I had a red cocoscurry with lots of vegetables and chicken. It was a bit spicy, bit not too much. Noodles in broth, a salad with rice as the base, and sticky rice with or without fruit. Vegan versions of the noodles and salad are printed on the menu, so you don't have to ask for ingredients to be left out. I'm vegetarian and I like the peace of mind of not having to request that the fish sauce be left out, and then hoping to hell that the cook actually remembered doing that. Presentation is plain in keeping with the idea of this being Thai street food, but this does not take away from the quality of the food in any way. I ordered the rice salad dish, and every bite was flavorful. I could have done with a little more lime juice and chilli (rectified by adding spice powder and the vegan version of fish sauce) but that's an individual preference. I really appreciate the vegan version of the chilli fish sauce. Smelling the latter from any closer than two table-lengths away usually does appreciable harm to my appetite, and I like that the vegan sauce is in jars clearly labeled as such. Not a big fan of the seating arrangements here. The tables are low, and the chairs are upholstered in the hideous "vintage" style revival that is all the rage in Germany, a good many years after it died the miserable death that it deserves elsewhere. Not only do the chairs look terrible, they also are not very comfortable to sit in, which is yet another feature of these abominations. I appreciate mid-Century pieces and Danish Modern furniture just as much if not more than your average bearded hipster claims to, but most of this bottom-feeder crap that finds its way into cheap restaurants and cafés needs to be burnt whenever the crematorium's having a slow day. Well, apart for the rant above, Regenzeit is promising, and I'll be back there for more lunches.

Important to know: the restaurant Thai Food 1 does NOT belong to this group any longer. We tried this one in GoHo (well, Bärenschanze actually) for the first time, but I had tried the Erlangen branch before. From the outside, this restaurant doesn't look too inviting, in fact it struck me as more of a takeaway place. This first impression was further enhanced by the fact that you have to order at the counter inside and pay straight away. Nevertheless, you can then sit down and relax, and the food will be brought to the table by a waiter. The moment your food reaches your table, however, this place goes from a 2 star takeaway joint to a five star Thai gourmet restaurant. The food is ridiculously delicious and looks fantastic as well. The price tag that goes with this scrumptious dish might seem a little high and out of place at first, but once you start eating and notice the amazing quality of the ingredients (I didn't even know prawns came in these huge sizes), you will not regret the money you spent here. Careful, not only does hot mean HOT, they might also serve your food with nuts - in our case peanuts. Not cool when you're actually allergic to them...
