I did take the most adorable date with me
Arlene K.

I'm trying to be honest without being rude, but I want you friends in your plan to know the truth of my experience. Thai Ladle in Poway is tucked into a strip mall that's currently under some parking lot construction, which makes finding a spot a bit tricky. With all the nearby kid activities( like dance studios, kiddie gyms, and such) parking probably depends a lot on the time of day. Inside, the restaurant is small and appears clean, and the atmosphere is pleasant enough. The biggest disappointment is that they don't have a liquor license. No beer, wine, or sake, which would have totally turned me away if I figured it out a little faster. What can I say, a girl needs a Chardonnay sometimes. The food itself was good & reasonably priced ,, but not especially memorable. Basically, solid Thai food, but nothing that stands out. Service was friendly, but very slow. Like, very, very slow. We had to flag our server down each time we needed anything, and since we were the only customers, it was hard to understand why. That said, she was very nice and welcoming. One more downside: flies. The door wasn't propped open, yet there werea few of them buzzing around that we ended up covering our dishes with napkins toward the end of the meal. Overall, Thai Ladle is fine for a casual meal if you're in the area and I hope that my experience is the exception not the rule.

Small & quaint environment. The service was great!! I got the pad Thai medium spice and tom yum soup. Always so good for the soul!!

I stopped here on a whim, needed a quick snack got the "fresh" spring roll and chicken dumplings. It was personally a huge miss and a waste of money. The rice paper that was wrapped around the veggies wasn't very edible and my dumplings tasted as if they'd been refried or overcooked. So unfortunate because the restaurant it self was cute inside and had good seating areas. Might still come back to give the noodles a try but will see.

Decided to give them another try and I'm so glad we did. Either their quality control improved or the original chef is back because my pad Thai was delicious. It was perfectly spiced with the right balance of sweet and tang and not overly salted. We ordered online and picked up with ease. Husband also noted that his spicy noodles were really good.

Papaya salad, brown rice, green curry with shrimp

Paid by card. I went here on a Sunday night for dinner with 4 people and was seated right away since no one was inside. There were a lot of takeout orders though. Thai Ladle is located in a plaza and offers a lot of plaza parking. My party and I ordered Pad Thai with tofu, green curry with shrimp, and papaya salad, all medium spice. Medium spice is not spicy at all. The total was about $40 before tip. Cheap! The taste of the dishes was average and the portions were small. Most likely I won't go back.

Pad Thai lunch special -bleh

Ordered pad Thai lunch special and chicken satay. I can't believe it's tiny portion for $15.00. Presentation was bad, too sharp and kinda dry, 4 shrimps was hard, salad on the side was limp and looks like a day old and fried items was not crunchy, oily and soggy. The chicken satay was hard with no taste, again could be a day old. What a waste! The worst Thai food I ever had.

We came here from the bay area. I know they have a lot of thai restaurants around the areas that I haven't tried. But this had always been my go-to place. The staff is so friendly and very organized. I was craving for Thai food so we FINALLY ordered food. I thought you guys were open on Christmas eve but they were open on Christmas day. Not on Christmas eve. That was even better for us. They have these new drinks now with boba. It is definitely fresh. We need to come back here again before we go back home.

Service here is great! I visit often to pick up a meal to bring to a family member. I am always greeted with a smile, clean restaurant, cozy atmosphere, and my order ready to go at the time my order confirmation email indicates. Food is consistently tasty and the staff is conscious of my family member's dietary requests. Thank you Thai Ladle! You're amazing!

Yummy Food but this one is quite spicy at Medium. We will get the mild on our next trip here. Service is friendly and fast.

Food: 4.5/5 Service and Setting: 4/5 Value: 4/5 Thai Ladle is my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego at the moment. I used to have a grudge against them because they replaced my local Indian buffet, but all is forgiven. I have not gone into the store for such a long time, but they are the best for delivery and always do an amazing job. They are my favorite Thai restaurant not because their flavors are on a different level, but because they are very consistent and use great ingredients which unfortunately is not the case for many other Thai restaurants here (no shade to anyone in particular). Side note, the best protein here is definitely their beef! Chicken Satay: 4/5 This dish is not very special and I would even say that it is even slightly on the dry side; however, there is something very addictive about it. Is it the shape, the sauce? I have no idea. The satay sauce that they give you is not too salty and is slightly sweet. While it is not complex, I definitely have a hard time replicating it with the same feel at home. I wish that the portion was a little bigger for its price, maybe another skewer or two? Pineapple Fried Rice: 4.5/5 This by far is my favorite pineapple fried rice. I know that I said that beef was the best protein and this is shrimp, but their shrimp is very fresh and large, a solid runner up. They put the perfect amount of ingredients while I feel that many other restaurants are very stingy, especially with the cashews. The curry flavor along with the sweet pineapple makes this a must get to share or for just yourself! Tom Kha Soup: 4.5/5 I normally don't get soup, but my friend gifted me some delivery and I am so glad that he did. It is similar to some of their curries but has a distinct sourness that makes it refreshing. The coconut gives the soup a slight sweetness while enhancing the savory notes of the broth. This is a great companion for any of their dishes for a splash of moisture and change of pace to refresh your palate, highly recommend! Papaya Salad: 4.5/5 An issue that I have with some papaya salad is that the fermented flavor is crazy. Though I know lighter versions may not be as authentic, something about eating fresh fruit and veggies with funk gives me weird vibes. The papaya salad served here is super fresh and appetizing with a perfect blend of sweet, salty, sour, and savoriness. You definitely get some kick with fish sauce but it's not paralyzing powerful. A must get! Thai Tea: 4/5 Getting thai tea at a restaurant versus a boba shop always hits different, you know? Their tea is sweet, rich, smooth, smokey, and has warm notes of vanilla. I have seen thai tea being made and I know that there usually isn't something special about the ways people make it, but I say Thai Ladle's thai tea is good and a great way to wash down some spice.

Pineapple Curry and Jasmine Rice

I ordered from Thai Ladle to have it delivered to my home and im so glad I did. I ordered the papaya salad ($8.75) and pineapple curry with tofu ($11.75) with a side of jasmine rice ($2.00). Everything tasted great. The papaya salad was super spicy (i asked for the "hot" spice level) and it definitely delivered! I couldnt even finish it because my mouth was on fire. The pineapple curry was piping hot and flavorful. I finished all of it! The rice was perfectly cooked as well. I cant speak about the service or anything about the physical location since I got delivery but im assuming everything was clean and the staff is nice! The prices were a little higher than some other places Ive been to but not by much. I would definitely come back to Thai Ladle!

Pad Thai Chicken

I ordered their pad thai lunch special and had my order within 10 mins, that was nice. The pad thai was too sweet and chicken meat was barely any. The other thing is that they used pho noodles vs pad thai thicker noodles, so it was really soggy. I probably would try other items next time. not pad thai.

TianChee S.

Initially wanted to try Joyee but they were madly backlogged and some of the items I wanted they were sold out so we Yelped around and found this alternative within the same plaza. I'm usually not a fan of Thai food in Socal as they have been very mediorce at best. The reviews here looked decent so we got takeout here and we were pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality. I did not expect decent asian food in Poway of all places. I got the beef pad -see eww and the noodles were cooked very well. Not too oily and the beef was cooked well, nice and tender. Some places tend to over sweeten the whole dish but they did it just right here. I would order this item again in a heart beat. I also tried their chicken panang curry which comes with rice and that was also pretty delicious. I will definitely come here again for any future Thai cravings.

It's really not". This was our first time in. We had already looked online prior to arriving to decide our items. We weren't greeted with any "welcome"s and the line set up was confusing. Once we figured it out, he asked if we were ready to order and we said yes. We told him what we wanted and when he followed with "is there any changes you'd like to make" we paused for not even five seconds to re-read the item list to make sure there wasn't. Within those 5 seconds, and as we went to respond, he cut us off and very rudely said "well so and so will help you instead. Next." It literally caught us off guard because it was so extremely dismissive. I think I audibly scoffed and said "oh okay?" out of utter disbelief. The other person seemed no happier to be working on this day. He "helped" us at check out by putting the payment screen up and immediately going back to vent to his coworker about whatever problem he likely caused himself. We then decided to sit outside, even though it was extremely hot, because we felt too uncomfortable to be inside. While sitting is when we watched the above interaction. The woman was visibly upset. He responded with something dismissive as she walked out. I didn't get a name as I wasn't offered a receipt, but the interactions took place for both of us between 1-1:30 on 3/28. The unhappy employee was a younger male with a backwards black baseball hat, light grey long sleeve, black framed glasses, and a goatee that supported his frown. You should definitely hire better people to represent your brand. It doesn't help that the food was heavily overpriced for the quality. Yuck!

My experience yesterday evening was absolutely opposite. We were seated at a large round table in the corner at the front of the restaurant. We were 11 seated at this great round table. It was perfect because we could talk with anyone at the table, and see each other. Our server, Hunter was fantastic! Friendly and while waiting other tables she was able to cater to our needs just as well and as fast. She did have another person checking on us when Hunter was not at our table. I did not get her name. Tonight it was hopping with other gatherings taking place. There are TV's lined along the upper half of the wall with all kinds of sports happening being televised. The room is very open with great outdoor seating off to the side of the restaurant. Looked like comfortable seating too. A few of us ladies order appetizers to share. When the platters arrived they were placed on the large lazy Susan in the middle of the table. Appetizers shared: Sampler plate: Gyoza, Shrimp Tempura, Spring Rolls and Cream Cheese Wontons Meatballs Wings Margherita Flatbread Hummus Flatbread My dinner was: PSH Chicken Penne Pasta My drinks: Espresso Martini and Benoit Dearg "red Beer (Barley & Sword Brewery) Red Ale-Irish My Dessert: Beignets to share and Affogato Appetizers were great. Though I did not get to try the meatballs, I was able to enjoy bites of the sampler plate. With the wings I requested the mild sauces to be off to the side. Thank goodness! They were spicy and I do like spicy food. The windows were nice and crispy! Came with carrots and celery sticks. My Chicken Penne Pasta was delicious. I don't know if it was my imagination but there seem to be some sweetness to the sauce. Maybe wine added? My desserts! The beignets were fresh. The arrived with the look of almost a donut hole. They were piping hot. The bread was light, with a bit of dense texture. Very delicious. My affogato was amazing. If you love coffee this might be for you. I had my first affogato in Italy, this is the 2nd best. The hot espresso mixed into the vanilla ice cream, was heavenly. Both my drinks, Espresso Martini and red beer were both delicious! The martini was very creamy and with the right amount of sweetness. The red beer was mild and very smooth.
