Love this place. A little expensive for my wallet though, closer to $30 then $11. Go here for all birthdays and special times. The owner always remembers me, even though I don't come in that often. Be sure to save room for their fabulous desserts. My daughter always tells them to make her food very spicy, and they definitely do know what spicy is. I like spicy food, but can't eat what she gets! Don't know what Nils ordered, but I always get rice with my food. I tend to order curries. My son, who has visited Thailand several times, tells me that the food here is more Thai style then the real thing. Suspect that Reading folks won't be into real Thai food. read more

The best curry I've ever had anywhere in the USA and the Coconut milk soup is divine. And you can't go wrong with the sampler appetizer. Favorite desert: the coconut cake. And for those who are afraid the food may be too spivey, although not in my opinion, they will customize the spiciness to your pallet. read more

Ok I wouldn't know if this is the best Thai restaurant, and I acknowledge the julienned carrots in the dishes may not be "traditional". But they do serve rice with the dishes so i dont get that comment. We have been sampling Thai restaurants in big cities across the country and I can tell you that Thai Cuisine is the best we have had, period. We have been to highly rated places in Chicago, NY, and Thai cuisine is better. And as far as Thaiwat, it's not even close. Trust me I was there today and every bite made me regret that we weren't at Thai cuisine. And as far as the waitstaff not being Thai, I'm not sure what that means. The owner is Thai. Her name is Dao (rhymes with Dow) and she's usually there so ask for her. Now if you have that Berks county affection for portion size and price over taste, I don't know what to tell you. Your favorites might well be different than mine. But if you like really good food at a reasonable price go to Thai cuisine. You'll like it. read more

Service was good. I got the Pad Thai. It tasted nothing like Pad Thai I have ever had in my life. It was mostly veggies, hardly any noodles, with a sickeningly sweet sauce. I couldn't manage to eat half of my dish. read more

Save your money and go to a Chinese buffet. My wife and I decided to try the cuisine. I ordered the Penang beef and what I got was a plate full vegetables in a cream sauce with about 5 little slivers of beef and a ball of rice for $16.95. For years and years, since Thai Cuisine was on 8th Street in the City, this has been my favorite food. It beats any other Thai place by far, and it is the best Asian food, in general, in our area that there is. You don't even have to look at your menu. Simply tell Dow, the owner, or one of her staff, what your preferences are, and they will recommend something superb for you. It's wonderful that it is BYOB, as well. You walk in, and you are transported right out of Berks County to a place that is relaxed, well cared for, and has smiling friendly faces, and you walk out stuffed but knowing you want more! Thai Cuisine is one of our favorite restaurants in Berks County....we have NEVER had a bad meal there, if fact, all our entrees have been very delicious. Food is fresh, served hot and the beef used in their beef dishes is actually filet mignon. Yes, it's not cheap, but it's not all that expensive for what you get. Not sure what one reviewer's experience was with the shrimp & crab fried rice, but ours was loaded with large shrimp (cooked to perfection) and large, delicious chunks of lump crab. read more

Huge disappointment; complete waste of money! Been going to Thai Cuisine since it was on 8th St. Live across town and had not been in some time so we were excited as we anticipated a wonderful meal. I have not paid for food and thrown it away in at least a decade--did so tonight. Panang with chicken had about 2 oz. of chicken in it--could barely find it! Sauce had almost no flavor, all the veggies and rice were so extremely mushy, the texture was disgusting. I work hard for my money and tonight threw away $45! I will never recommend Thai Cuisine again, nor will I ever go back. I have to give it 1 star because it won't post otherwise. read more
