Craving pad Thai so we decided to try a local Thai spot in the area. We came across Thai modern cafe on yelp so we stopped in. There was no one inside so we were seated right away and ordered. I ordered the pad Thai with beef and my boyfriend ordered orange chicken with friend rice ( rice was extra) our food came out quick. We were disappointed with the sweet n sour chicken portion.. barely any chicken but the rice was good. Pad Thai was good but a little too much sauce on it for me. Was craving good Thai food and saw this place pop up on yelp. My husband and I tried it and we were very impressed! He ordered the Red Curry and I tried the Thai Sweet Basil Noodles. Both were DELICIOUS! We ate every bite! The veggies were so fresh, shrimp was fresh and cooked perfectly. The spices were excellent! The cafe is tucked back in the corner of the plaza but once inside it's very comfortable with nice music playing. I'm so happy to have finally found a Thai place near my house. Randomly found this place and Thai food is my comfort food. I can always eat Thai food and so I'm pretty familiar with its flavors. Today I tried their Thai tea and basil noodles Thai hot with tofu. Excellent dish as an alternative to a drunken noodle/pad kee mao dish which I was looking for. Very flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. They didn't break apart and were the right consistency. I always order Thai hot and rarely do places make it that hot and I'll have to request the chili tray. This place got it right the first time! My taste buds danced and screamed with joy! The lunch came with a rice soup and spring roll, both was delicious Thank you for the lovely lunch. I'll be back. read more

This is a fairly new restaurant to Lutz. My son had visited and told me I had to go. We were greeted on arrival and promptly seated in a nice booth. Rung was our server and she got our drink request started immediately. There is a nice menu with plenty of options, there is also a very nice complete dinner menu with starters, entree and desserts for a very reasonable price. My jasmine tea came out and was so delicious. I ordered the panang tofu curry. I loved the flavor and such a generous portion with jasmine rice. My husband ordered the sweet and sour chicken. He asked to have the chicken fried instead of steamed and there was no problem. We also shared a starter of egg rolls. There were four and so delicious. Everything is made there. Served to order. The atmosphere was perfect. Quite and cozy. Sue is the owner and checked to assure we were happy and we certainly were. I am so happy to have a nice Thai and sushi restaurant in our area. I have to give this restaurant credit in that the flavor of the food is tasty. What brings down their score is that both the Pad Thai and the Thai Basil Noodles were BONE DRY! I am not sure as to how many people like digging into clumps of dry noodles to eat, but this definitely takes away from my having a positive experience. This is not my first time ordering noodle dishes from restaurants, but this is certainly the first time I have experienced the "dry noodle" issue. I think that this can be easily remedied if they added more sauce to the dishes. If not, then perhaps noodle dishes for this restaurant should be enjoyed within the establishment and not delivered; or maybe I'm the only lucky one to have to add some type of moisture to my dish. So, to summarize: MEH!! and possibly never again. :-( read more

Amazing food - delicious, fresh, flavorful. Genuinely friendly service. Clean and cozy. I had the Spicy Basil Chicken which was amazing; my wife had the Coconut Chicken soup (lots of fresh and freshly sliced vegetables) and Chicken Satay, and our son had Drunken Noodles (it has a different name on the menu, but just ask for Drunken Noodles and they'll know what you mean) - everything was delicious and full of flavor. So disappointed. I want to start by saying, my fiancé and I loved this place. We have a few Thai places that were much closer to our home but made the further drive to come to this place. We brought friends and family here, urging them to make the longer drive for better food. Portions used to be generous and it was delicious! We ordered takeout over the weekend and when I arrived to pick up, I immediately noticed it seemed like less food than usual. We ordered 1 veggie lover with chicken with extra veggies, $16 with the $3.00 chicken charge and $3.00 extra veggie charge, 1 Pad See Ew $13.00, and two SMALL sides of fried rice $6.00. In total we paid $39.00. FOR WHAT!? Portions were AT LEAST cut in half. No extra veggies in in my veggie lover, which had less veggies than normal already. The Pad See Ew was a smaller portion as well. We feel completely ripped off. We had been told it was now under new ownership? We will not be coming back and will urge our friends and family to think twice before coming back as well, so they too do not get ripped off. We understand times are hard with Covid, but ripping off loyal customers is not the way to get by. Hopefully the new owner turns things around! read more

I've been disappointed with the food in the Tampa Bay Area since moving here about a year ago. Thai Cafe Modern is an exception, however. It is excellent. So far we have had the crispy duck curry, the Thai basil noodles, and the fresh summer rolls. All of it has been very flavorful and delicious. If you like spicy food, go for the Thai Hot option. The cashier at the front was kind and polite, but the food itself was over-proced for both quantity and quality. I ordered a tuna roll and a Sake Salmon poke bowl. The sushi was small, and largely rice. Still, I thought maybe the poke would be better. The ingredients in the bowl didn't seem fresh. Edamame was slightly brown, and the overall bowl was small considering what other places offer for similar prices. Both plates together came out to ~$28. Decided to stop and try this hidden Thai restaurant. It's tucked in the corner of a strip shopping center. Didn't know what I wanted and they were offering a tasting menu...app, soup, entree and dessert. So, I thought, why not? You had choice of chicken satay or spring rolls. I opted for the chicken satay. It was delicious! So tender, flavorful and the peanut sauce added another dimension of flavor...I had to ask for more sauce. You're given 3 skewers, more than enough for me. Then came the chicken tom yum soup. Also delicious...sweet and sour, with j oo9ust a kick of heat...onions and mushrooms also add a layer of flavors. Timely service brought the next item in my tasting, the entree of shrimp pad thai. Portions are ample. I received 5 good sized shrimp in my entree...again, delicious and what I expected the dish to taste like. It had a sprinkling of fried egg, onions, bean sprouts and crushed peanuts on the side to mix in as much or little as you desire...I, personally, can't have enough peanuts mixed in. With a quickly filling belly, the server returned to caution me to save room, as I still had dessert to come. With that, I gave her the remainder of my entree to box. Final item in my tasting were fried banana coins with vanilla ice cream. There were 4 banana coins wrapped in rice paper and deep fried with a drizzle of what was likely honey and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. It was a perfect portion to end my tasting and not too heavy to put me into a food coma. For $22 this was a deal for lunch. Definitely a place I will return. read more

When you first walk in, it just looks like a typical Asian quick takeout type of place. But the food here is incredibly authentic and flavorful.
