I check online before visiting to see if there is anything new and of interest; I always make it a point to stop and peruse several of their galleries whenever I am in Quebec's Old City. Some galleries specialize in Abstract Art , but most have a variety of Landscapes, City-Scapes, Still-Lifes, Portraits, Animals and Genre pieces. Prices range from the expensive to the not so expensive as does the quality but overall there is a distinct advantage as I believe their price to quality ratio is generally better than what I have found here in the states and when the exchange rate is as it is now there is a hugh price advantage. Service is always excellent; when a purchase is made and sent to the States all Canadian taxes are avoided. They will do up to12 installment payments without interest making it easier on your budget but in so doing you are at the monthly change rate for each transaction. I have always been satisfied with my experience at Beauchamp as well as my purchases and never tire of a visit to see what is new and emerging in the world of commercial art.

I spotted the hand-painted watches I had seen in another shop in Old Town. I was impressed that this shop had more selection. I found one with 2 cats (chats) that I absolutely adored but was not excited about the gray leather band. My husband thought the red band would be nice and so did I, so we asked the lady if it was possible to change it. Even though they were just getting ready to close on a Sunday, they were very accommodating and found a nice red leather band that really highlighted at artwork on the watch face. I never felt rushed, both ladies spoke English and were delightful, even asking to see photos of my kitties I had on my phone! True customer service. I highly recommend this shop and would return again if ever in Quebec City. Tell them the Cat Lady from Hawaii sent you!!!

So we are walking around in Basse-ville in Quebec City and come across this quirky little store…read more It's an artsy-craftsy little boutique that - at least when we were there - had no identifying name on the door. We only found out the official name when we got our American Express bill. In any event, we walked by the first time and saw this really unique little top for a young woman - a part sweater (the back) part faux leather (the front) top - all in shades of grey. Our daughter liked it but didn't love it. So we circled around. On the second go-around we all loved it and went in to check it out. Since there was no price attached we didn't know if it would require our first-born son to acquire - but it did not. Tried it on, fit wonderfully, priced right - it was a sale. We also picked up a few nick-nacks for other reasons, but the highlight of this store is really the unique clothing designs - mostly by local artisans. This is a nice little retail outlet that offers clothing designs you may not find on every corner - really nice stuff.

In every store you walk in, the employees there were nice and helpful. There are so many stores selection and each one is unique. Depending on what you are looking for, I think price can be above average to high. Which is normal for a touristy destination. Loved the umbrella alley, the views of the river from the chateau, and the funiculaire! Make sure to bring cash that is less than $100 or 100CAD because they do not take that at the funiculaire.

There is also a fair selection of city scenes and portrait paintings. The service here is quite gracious and amazingly helpful. I encountered no pretense or snobbery from the staff. I also noticed families with teenagers and children who entered the shop. The staff didn't seem to mind at all. The lady who waited on me answered all my questions perfectly and made me feel at home. This gallery is worth a visit. If you are in the market for a nice painting, you might find it here.

Not a single shop was open. that's fine, you win some, you lose some but- Every day from mid-May to mid-October, rue du Trésor is lined with artists who are often present until 9 p.m. to handle the flow of visitors. The artists are free to set their hours. During the rest of the year, a few artists are present on holidays, as well as on weekends when large crowds are expected in Old Québec.

OUTDOOR ART MARKET…read more Rue du Tresor is located in the heart of Old Quebec. Shadowed by Chateau Frontenac, it is located across from Place d'Armes and the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. Rue du Tresor is a narrow cobblestone street (closed to traffic). We did not see any indoor art galleries on this very short street where artwork is hung outside under awnings. Most of the artwork we saw were small paintings and drawings of Le Chateau Frontenac and other historic sites of Old Quebec. No prices were posted. Since our hotel was nearby, we often passed by Rue du Tresor. It was disappointing that there were a few mornings and afternoons when no artwork was on display - the irregular hours might have been because our visit was at the end of the summer high season.
