Last minute idea: to head over to the museum of textile while in Borås. Less than a 5 minute drive if you are in Knalleland, but watch that turn into the parking lot. If you blink, you'll miss that little street! You'll now have to circle around and that adds another 5 minutes.
Once there, parking gets a minus 1 star. What a mess. You need an app, you need a Swedish person number, etc. sometimes it's hard to be a tourist in Sweden.
What a pleasant surprise once inside. The building is modern, large, houses a college of textiles, a fashion center and of course the museum. Everything is super nice.
We were fortunate to visit during a denim exhibit and installation by Ian Berry, which was terrific. I was impressed by the museum's craft space for kids to get creative and able to sew. There are numerous little markets you can buy well designed products, exhibit memorabilia and fabrics. The staff was very engaged and helpful.
One suggestion, it would have been nice and inclusive for tourists to be able to read the interesting history notes of Borås textile industry. It was visually beautifully presented, but the notes were only in Swedish. Some other languages could be English, Spanish, French, Chinese... ? Just an idea.
Definitely worth a visit.
