This is a good central spot for getting to Badwater Basin and Zabriske Point and similar spots easily. No hookups but plenty of access points for drinking water. Bathrooms were clean. Spots are pretty close together so don't expect much privacy here. Surrounding rocks and view were pretty during sunrise and sunset. As it's Death Valley, roaming only cell signal. The Ranch (5-10 min drive) has ample parking and Paid Wi-Fi if needed. read more

A three rating from me is average. I rated this campground a 2 and would have rated it lower except for the exceptional location. Unable to use the kiosk at campground to transact paying and apply the park pass discount. Had to drive back to the visitors center. Sites are gravel, no shade...but that was expected. Signs posted "No Generators" but people were running them. No showers, bathrooms were dirty. People were bathing at some of the few centrally located water faucets. No individual site water. They do have a dump station. Most of the facilities looked run down. Sites are narrow and the fire rings are situated in such a way it makes it difficult to have a fire if the site next to you is occupied. You will more than likely damage your stuff or your next door neighbors. We didn't have a fire for this reason. They do have picnic tables, but not on all sites. Cell phones worked for calls and text but no access to post any photos on the internet. This is up the hill from any store or amenities. They are not in reasonable walking distance. There is a dump station as you leave or enter this campground. read more

We stopped in on an un-planned trip and found that the campground was full.  We checked it out for a future "planned stay" and were very happy with wat we saw.  It's a very nice campground in a very nice location.  Surprisingly, the water out of the faucet was quite drinkable.  It's as good as any bottled water water we've had. The best part was we got to spend a little time with the camp host Bob McNamara.  He's a super nice guy & extremely knowledgeable.  He took the time to answer a bunch of questions and even gave us a map that he marked with a place to camp for the night and for some future explorations and dispersed camping in the backcountry.   If you get a chance, be sure to stop in and say hi to Bob.  And take advantage of his 40+ years of experience in the park.  He'll be there until April 15th. read more

If you are looking for a crowded Walmart parking lot - complete with the corresponding clientele - this is the place for you. Not a true campground by any definition. It doesn't matter if 90% of your fellow "campers" respect the place, because the other 10% will ruin it for everyone due to the close quarters and complete lack of privacy. Unfortunately there's not many options in this area of Death Valley, but if you dare to come here...be prepared for the worst. read more

This location has a great price, good location (next to general store and restaurant), has clean bathrooms that flush, as well as a dish washing station. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table. It's has a pay station so you may pay anytime. The floor is hard so remember to pack accordingly. read more
