I love going to Texas Roadhouse with my family. The food is kind of a hit or miss depending on what you're getting but the rolls and butter are delicious. The service is very nice and welcoming and the speed of the service depends on how busy it is. It's usually less busy in the beginning of opening time. Sorry. The food just wasn't good. Ribs were burned like all the meat on the last rib was so badly burned that it wasn't meat it was char attached to a burnt bone. Bones were charred pretty bad there was no way that made it out of the kitchen without being noticed. I had a steak as well that was supposed to be medium rare and there was zero pink. The worst of it was the other steak at the table that was off. It was literally a pile of mush that fell apart with a fork. And not in a good way. I put my name on the list, go sit at the bar I have been at the barc45 min and they tell me I called your name 6-7 times you can't hear anything from the door to the bar. Then they tell me "oh you can't be seated until your whole party is here, it says it somewhere down here." So now I'm stuck waiting another 45 mins and there is no where it says you can't be seated without your whole party. read more

I visited this restaurant tonight for a steak and some lokal brew. The beer menu is reasonable and offers local, domestic and some popular international brews. The food menu includes good American food, delicious appetizers, steaks, burgers and more. I have chosen a NY strip with mushrooms sided by mashed potatoes covered with cheese and bacon and a Cesar salad. Everything tasted really delicious, the salad was fresh and the steak perfectly cooked as ordered. The dessert menu looks very inviting but I was not able to order dessert after the very good sized meal. The margaritas here are served in BIG glasses and a recommendation. I was very satisfied after dinner. The server was very friendly and the manager seems to be a nice guy as well. I will come again some other night. read more

We visited here on 12/29, Wednesday afternoon, around 4PM. No waiting and prompt service (expected as it was early dining hours). I tried the chopped steak with mushroom, cheese and onion topping and it was excellent! My wife had the hamburger and fries and rated it as one of the best burger and fries (we have only one other place that we rate the burger that high...). Marie, our server, was outstanding. There is a small patio to sit outside with four tables, each with four chairs and umbrellas. Inside was a little too cold for me. They have a small butcher shop at the front of the restaurant for novelty sake, I think. This is also where they churn out those delectable little buns of heaven with cinnamon butter on the side. I ordered the prime rib (10 oz for $13.99, a steal vs. NYC prices) with a side of baked beans and green beans. If you order prime rib, ask for a leaner cut, although you will still get a heavily marbled piece of meat, it will be slightly better. The prime rib was very soft and not as tough as sirloin, which is what I usually get. The meat was cooked perfectly and still retained a lot of the juices. Try to avoid the large pieces of fat, and this meal won't leave you with as much artery-clogging feeling. The baked been were sweet and a little spicy, cooked to be tender and just the way I liked it. There were also pieces of tough meat in the mix that I could do without. The green beans were an epic fail. I was envisioning crisp green beans when I ordered them, instead I got mushy beans in a cup. I would recommend the fresh veggies instead if you are going for a healthier night. The place also gives complimentary peanuts. Yup, I took three bags =). read more

My service that I had here was horrible. My friend and I went in for just steaks and a drink and we sat at the bar (mind you the bar wasn't that busy) and the bartender took our drink order right away but then my friend and I sat for 20 minutes to put our food order in while the bartender was gossiping with her co workers, disappearing into the kitchen for 5-6 minutes, and spending time hugging and chatting with her friends who stopped in. When I finally waved her down to place a food order she got an irritated attitude with me. My friend and I couldn't help but notice that the couple sitting next to us were also irritated because the bar tender still had their debit card while she was doing all of this so they couldn't leave. After we finally got our meal, our drinks we gone and we wanted another but I told my friend "I want a glass of wine but I don't wanna wait 20 minutes for it." Mind you this bartender was doing everything she could to avoid me and my friend, I guess I pissed her off by trying to wave her down. (Screw me for trying to place a food order in a restaurant.) So we decided to skip the wine and just get our checks. The bar tender didn't ask us if we wanted separate checks and put it all on one and then she got another bad attitude when I asked to split it so my friend got mad and said "it's fine, just put it on my card." After the bartender heard the anger in my friends voice, all of a sudden her demeanor changed and she said in her best customer service voice "I don't mind splitting it." We left that her a bad tip and I'm someone who tips very generously but there was no excuses for her attitude and bad service. My friend said "she checked on us twice in an hour and one of the times was just to take our food order." Very disappointed and won't be back anytime soon. Megan, if you see this. Came here on a busy Friday night wth a party of 6. We ended up here because we didn't want to wait forever at the other steakhouse down the street and also because we LOVE free peanuts!! To our surprise we were seated in a short 15 minutes. The service was great and the food was good too. Probably my only complaint would be that we were seated, served the drinks, bread, appetizers and salads before anyone was given silverware. A boo boo on their part for sure. Went here on a busy weekend evening and was surprised and impressed to be seated right away. Been burned here with missing items ordering takeout in the past, or else I wouldn't have eaten in. The BBQ is always a 50-50 chance here. Some visits, the ribs for example, are fresh and taste delicious. Other visits, obviously reheated/gummy tasting and not very good at all. On a side note, are the sides shrinking? I swear my cup of chili was barely two spoonfuls. Anyway, I decided not to gamble with the BBQ and ordered sirloin steak tips cooked medium with mushrooms, onions, and peppers. It also came with some sort of seasoned rice, which was eh-ok I guess. Steak tips came out quickly though, good portion size, fresh, cooked to correct temp and very tasty. Service and dinner was solid going the steak route. I think if you stick to that at this location you'll be satisfied. Oh, for those complaining about the noise level....hello...it's a "ROADHOUSE". Roadhouses are loud and sometimes boisterous. So expect loud music, blaring television sets, singing and dancing. This spot is legit. I've been coming here every Friday for the past month for the prime rib. I have to say who ever has been cooking my steaks every Friday for the past month really knows his way around the grill (or whatever they use). Steaks are juicy and really tender. Great taste! I always pair it with a side of sauted mushrooms and loaded mash potatoes. Oh and the bread, delicious! They come out so hot that the butter just melts very easily. Great service, great food. The incident that I am about to describe happened several months ago. However, it is the reason that I will never dine at this establishment again, so I feel compelled to tell it. It was a dark and stormy night (seriously - it was snowing and there were like 5 cars off the road). My boyfriend and I were going on a little couples date with his best friend and his wife. We had had dinner at this restaurant in the past and decided to go again. Everything was fine until our drink orders arrived. I'm not sure what happened. The waitress may have slipped. She may have stumbled. She may have tripped. What I do know is that SHE SPILLED A 20 OZ BLUE MOON ALL OVER MY BOYFRIEND AND I. Really? She was very apologetic and got us some napkins. Uh, thanks. Now that we both have a sea of citrus-y alcohol in our crotches, these napkins will solve all our problems. We literally sat in puddles of beer the whole time we were there. We could have all the napkins we wanted. Gee golly gosh. However, napkins don't help when you are totally soaked from the waist down. It's also not fun to sit in the car for 45 minutes with wet pants. I'm sure we all know this from different life experiences. If this had happened to me a year ago, I would have blown my freaking gasket on that waitress. They would have heard me screaming all the way in Shelburne (I don't scream that loud). Fortunately for this waitress, I had recently taken up a new mindset about unfortunate accidents. Yelling at her would not dry my pants. Yelling at her would not dry my boyfriends' pants, either. So I've been to this Texas Roadhouse many times! Usually good experiences, but tonight not so much. I'm giving them three stars instead of two because of the good past experiences! This visit was so full of mistakes that I can't quite believe it happened, so let me tell you about it! 1) So first off when I ordered a hurricane margarita, I got my id out and he never even looks at it! I'm clearly not that old looking, when I get my drink it's not a hurricane but a plain margarita, I talk to him and he brings the correct drink. 2)We ordered cheesy fries and we get potato skins instead, we think "Wow, really? Close enough tho!" We don't mention this. 3) Our ketchup bottle is empty and my SO grabs the one off the other table and mentions this to our waiter who in turns SCOLDS him for leaving the other empty table without ketchup, really? He just told you he did it! Very rude. 4) I ordered apple sauce and corn with my meal and get the exact same sides my bf had ordered (fries and mashed potatoes). At this point we are mad and really unimpressed with our waiter, he got almost everything wrong with our order except our main meals! While all the food was delicious and had nothing wrong with it, the point stands - this isn't what we ordered. I think a manager had the feeling that things weren't going well for us and took over for the waiter, that was nice but we didn't bring up the issues and just wanted to leave to get on with our day. This place gets crowded on the weekends. We went, party of 5. Waited 20 minutes (not bad). We ordered our food. When the waiter brought my husband's steak, he reached across the table, tipping the plate and pouring hot steak juice all over my 4-year-olds head! We quickly took my son to the bathroom and got cool towels on him, cleaning him up. Other than smelling like steak, and redness, no major harm done. We didn't yell or grumble, we just got my son to the bathroom as fast as we could. We never saw our waiter again. He never came back to check on us, never offered dessert, never brought the check. We never saw a manager, nothing. No apology, no service, nothing. I had to go to the counter to check out. Insult to injury. I told the cashier there what happened and she shrugged. I usually enjoy eating here, but the novelty of having a Texas Roadhouse in Vermont is finally wearing off. It used to be a fun occasion once or twice per year while traveling, but now that there's one the next town over it's getting old - fast!! First of all, this is NOT a place to go if you've had a stressful day at work. It's very noisy, and the line dancing and waitstaff wearing shirts that say how much they love their job is annoying (even on a non-stressful day!) That being said, their grilled steaks are delicious... I've also tried their chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken - they always taste slightly burnt. I think they just don't know how to cook them properly in Vermont. I also like their salads, and they are decent in size. Their rolls are also really REALLY good. My meal last night was good, but my dad ordered a burger with extra onions. It was cooked to the consistancy of a hockey puck, and his "extra onions" consisted of the tiniest little red onion ring that I've ever seen. Once we were at our table we waited forever (yet again) for our meal to finally arrive. Last night four of us went to dinner here. Went online and "got in line". The message was 65-75 minutes (6:30-6:40). We arrived at 6:30 and had wait an hour in our car. At 7:00, I went in to check on our table - the hostess was not helpful, actually rude, maybe because I interrupted her from her phone. Went back to the car. She made sure to ask how each appetizer and entree tasted and if there was anything she could do to help. OH MY GOD, best service ever. Entertainment factor and buyer beware, do not tell them about an anniversary, birthday, or celebration unless you want to ride the baby booster saddle and have the attention of the entire restaurant. I believe you'll receive something free, but I couldn't quite hear what it was. If you love attention, go for it (tell them when you first call ahead) In the hour of eating, the female staff got together in the middle of the restaurant to dance country style. They were all smiling and some were even joking with each other. It's not surprising considering their t-shirts said "I love my job." Inhale bread bites. Tear up the baby blossom. Reluctantly eat chili no onion, no cheese. Whine, then sigh. Eat the Smokehouse burger no lettuce, no tomato. Give up after half. You'll likely hate yourself after eating so much, but it'll be worth it. Don't be afraid to take left overs home. *If you have left over fries take the extra time and stick 'em into the oven. The first few times I went to Texas Roadhouse, I really did like the honky-tonk atmosphere and the awesome comfort food. But I think, since then, the flair has really worn off. Personally, the atmosphere has become a bit irritating and just plain noisy. Of course, that is likely just personal opinion and I could see why others would enjoy that in a restaurant experience. As for the food, I do think they have the best ribs in town and the steaks are always cooked perfectly. But everything else seems to have fallen in the quality department. Chicken seems drier, side dishes taste rushed and kind of bland (beans, rice, potato). Service is OK. But our last visit didn't get us any silverware until AFTER the food had arrived and even then we had to remind the server that we needed some, AGAIN. Even when it came my knife (still wet from he washer) was still dirty! I think, despite its apparent success (fairly busy on weeknights as well as weekends) the restaurant needs to step up some to keep people coming in as I think they may have rested some on earlier success. Absolutely horrible. Went here back last January. Three of us ordered the grilled chicken sandwiches. Texas Roadhouse in Williston served them RAW. We were served raw chicken. If you want to find any reason not to go to a restaurant, use this. The manager was super apologetic, but we had all taken a bite or two of the sandwiches already. I think we were comped for the meal, but should have been given a ticket for a hospital trip should we get food poisoning (which didn't happen, thank God). If you want a reason to have a restaurant shut down, serve your customers raw chicken. On side notes, the music was loud and became extremely annoying after about 45 minutes of it (but I don't like country music). The oily cinnamon bread they served before the meal was alright, but I can see how some people would like it. Please, if you consider eating here, at least reconsider the chicken. I frequently dine here because everything I've tried has been delicious, prepared exactly to order, is extremely reasonably priced and generously portioned. The hot fresh baked rolls must not be skipped! They're worth the long wait you're likely to encounter here. But you might want to ask for regular butter as I found the cinnamon butter a little too light and unsatisfying. Their chicken wing sauce is very unique and is tastier than all other buffalo wing sauces I've ever had, even at restaurants which specialize in buffalo wings. You cannot go wrong with the steaks, prime rib, roasted chicken, and the crispy chicken fingers. All are always seasoned and cooked perfectly. The steaks are always nice cuts of fresh beef with perfect marbling. Their consistency has been perfect. Most dinners come with two sides and all of them are fantastic except for the fries. Great place to bring your family! They have call ahead seating to secure your spot in the queue Incase the restaurant is busy! But most of the time you can walk in and get seated right away! The complimentary bread rolls are amazing! Warm and fluffy and melts in your mouth with the cinnamon butter! Delicious! You can pick out your own steak or order it right of the menu! They serve chicken, ribs, pulled pork, burgers, etc. There is definitely something for everyone! They have a wide selection of alcoholic drinks as well! Always great service! Normally I don't review chains all that much. However I have visited this place enough to review it! Over all its not to bad. So over the years I have been here about a dozen times. We try and go sometime in the middle of the week or early on a Friday or weekend night. If not you may have to wait for about 45 minutes or an hour. Not to bad but if you come late you will be sat slower! But over all this is a good thing. Why would you wanna go to a restaurant that has no wait? A wait means people like it so for me its not to bad. Just go during non-peak hours! The service for the most part has been good as well. Wait staff seem to be spot on with the service as well. The last visit was a little strange. Our waiter seemed to have forgotten us after we got our food. So no drink refills for us! Huge no no for me. Let's be honest...Refills are the ONLY thing a waiter is really in full control of. So to fail at that will reflect on the tip a lot. The food on the other hand has been pretty consistent. The only issue we had was the last time we had gone. The girlfriend got a pulled pork sandwich but they forgot the BBQ sauce! How does that happen? Not to sure. When we flagged down the waiter to let her know she replies with "Well it does not come with it unless you ask for it that way.". So right off I was like "huh?" So we pulled out the menu to show her it says "Smothered in BBQ sauce." Made me laugh a little but no one was rude to each other. was just interesting to see that the staff didn't know the menu all that well! Oh well. Pricing is to bad either. Its no cheap nor expensive. For 2 of us it ran around $36.00 with no tip. That included 2 drinks, one app and 2 meals! So there you have it folks. Its a pretty good place to visit most of the time!
