Texas Loving Serenity is my mom's assisted living home. My mom first moved in after a fall and rehab. We thought it might be temporary while she continued to improve her mobility. It is a lovely home and feels like a home. The owners are very caring people and make sure that everything is done the way it should be done, that patients needs and wants are met and that the staff has a great attitude about their jobs. I have been so happy with the care mom received there. After she had been there about 2 months, she had a stroke and needed even more help. While she was in the hospital Scott assured me she was welcome to return to their home. They didn't skip a beat and were able to continue to care for her even though she was not able to walk anymore and needed help with everything. I love this environment for my mom. It's a nice large one story home but the icing on the cake is it's lovely backyard where the residents can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. It has a long covered patio with patio furniture, a large open area for wheeling around and a gazebo area. Scott added an outdoor heater, fire pit and grill. The back overlooks a large wild pasture area where deer often come out to the delight of the residents. Each resident always wears a button on a necklace they can push whenever they need help with anything. The caregivers wear watches that buzz when someone presses the button. A couple of examples of the kind of staff that works there are: My mom's fresh Valentine flowers were starting to wilt. One of the caregivers picked roses from the backyard and replaced them with a cute note attached. Another day one of the caregivers came in on her day off to say hi to each of the residents just because she was in the area. Last week someone left a cute tiny bouquet of silk flowers on mom's nightstand next to her bed. On Christmas Eve, all the residents families were invited to a dinner with the residents and owners. We had a great time. Mom likes the food they are served and the residents eat together whenever possible at tables for 4 so it's easy to converse if they want to. It's the best personal care home and I am very happy my mom has such a nice place to live. Scott and Yessenia are the owner/operators. My daughter lives in the area and did a full review on all facilities nearby. Since I was planning on moving from California and needed a place for my wife to live with her health and memory issues. She found Texas Loving Serenity after a through search and interview process. She spent several hours interviewing them and other facilities. She was thoroughly convinced TLS was the best facility in the area. I then came out to visit the facility and was extremely impressed. The first impression when I walked in was that I couldn't believe how clean every room was! And the clean smell! So many facilities I have visited, just didn't smell right from the first step inside. You can tell that the staff really takes pride in keeping the house in top condition. This was a big plus in my book. I wanted to put my wife in a facility that I would live in! The owners, Scott and Yessenia couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and welcomed. Since moving my wife in, 2 months ago, I'm convinced that I made the right decision. I live next door to this facility and have photos of their medical waste that has washed up into my yard which I have had to report to the counties environmental health service. Just this past weekend they had a patient wander off from the facility not once but twice in Texas summer heat . This person was in a wheelchair and managed to roll themselves two blocks away before anybody even noticed they were gone . First Responders that arrived on the scene were familiar with the patient because this has happened before. The facility is not secure and the staff is unkind. My mother was in a larger facility where the ratio of care personnel to resident was over 1 per 12. At TLS, we found a beautiful home with a much more intimate level of care; 1 to 4/5. The Beard 's have gone to great lengths to create special home that works for each resident, but for us, it is the spectacular backyard that was the real sale! Most places do not have such a pleasant outdoor experience. My mother enjoys the back patio and grounds everyday that it's possible, greatly improving her emotional well-being.
