To my fam that means gas and packaged food only. I know it isn't pleasant cleaning bathrooms but the general rule is : if a bathroom is clean, it stays cleaner than if it is dirty. They were zooming the interstate like Nascar drivers. It was a beautiful drive, though. Mississippi was a beautiful drive as well. I passed through my birthplace and my mom's hometown and wondered why she did not raise us there. The people we met there were quite friendly. I called my brother on the blackberry and told how beautiful it was and said, "Yeah, but it was the 60's. Why the fuck do you think she got us out of there?" Point taken. We stopped in Morton for gas and I got a few chicken strips that were calling me and some more water. The little old ladies here were quite friendly and handed me a card with some bible verses on it. Damn...maybe I look like a heathen or something. I smiled and took the card. When I was packing to leave, I put the only bible I've ever owned (the one they gave me when I was baptized at 12) in storage. I guess I won't be needing it in this part of the country.

I stopped one night when I was having car problems, and the young man working there, Xavier, worked on it until it was fixed (keep in mind, this was around 11-11:30 and took about 45 minutes). Xavier has been the only worker I've had interaction with, and he never fails to be the highlight of my experience in the store. I've never seen a customer leave his presence without him reminding them to have a blessed night. My only recommended gas station in this area of Jackson!
