AVOID THIS PETROL STATION LIKE THE PLAGUE! In fact, stay away from ALL TEXACO STATIONS around the…read moreglobe. Texaco has a policy they enacted a couple years back which I just found out about, and it's not a good policy. Texaco does an 'authorization hold' on all petrol purchases done at the pump. That means no matter how much you spend, they charge you €125. If you do not have it, you cannot buy petrol. If you do have it, they will put a hold on it for 10 working days while your purchase clears. I found this out the hard way. I thought they were a reputable place, but I was wrong. This location is FULLY AUTOMATED so you are FORCED to pay by card at the pump, and no matter what you get, they take out €125 + your purchase, and then when the charge clears they are supposed to give you the €125. They do not. I bought petrol, got hit with a charge for €125 when I only got €30 in petrol, and then after a week the charge posted to my account and they STILL had the hold on €125 on top of that. I rang my bank who said they could do nothing, it was on Texaco and their merchant bank who had placed the hold. I rang Texaco HQ in Breda (+31 (0) 76 523 9200) and spoke with a man named Marcos Cotselis Pomar who at first told me the holds drop off as soon as the charges clear, and it was MY bank to blame. Having spent an hour going round and round with my bank, I told him this was not the case, my bank played NO PART in this, it was his companies bank and furthermore the charge had cleared and their bank had yet to release the hold (three days later after the charge had cleared). Of course they had no answer for any of this and tried to make me feel better by reassuring me I would get my money back in a week or two. A quick internet search for TEXACO AUTHORIZATION CHARGE turns up dozens of websites where over the past couple of years people from around the globe in every country where Texaco does business they have been caught out doing the same thing. Poor people whose only mistake was to try and purchase Texaco petrol and use their card at the pump (mine was a Visa Debit, but this happens to ALL CARDS, debit AND credit). So unless you want Texaco to take €125 + your purchase amount off your card and hold it for a couple of weeks STAY AWAY FROM TEXACO. So BEWARE! At this location there is NO WARNING, NO SIGNAGE, NOTHING to alert someone who may pull up thinking 'wow, a fully automated petrol station', that they are about to get taken for a couple hundred Euro.
