Its only 2 hour trip by train from amsterdam to den helder. From den helder, teso operates a regular service between den helder and texel.
Overall, the ferry is very nice. What i like:
- very regular service
- modern boats
- clean
- very affordable ticket price (much cheaper then getting to the other dutch islands)
- and only 20 min to get to the island. read more
Teso operates ferries between Den Helder and Texel island. Teso ferry is actually a ship which can accommodate a crowd of people and automobiles. There are no roads to Texel. So you have to take Teso if you want to go to Texel. It offers a smooth ride across the sea and you can enjoy the panoramic views form the top deck. There is pantry serving buffet food and drinks. The ride across takes a quick 20 minutes and it can feel like it is over before you had time to settle down.
It can be crowded during summer as more people like to go on vacation to Texel during summer. In summer, there can be waiting times to get on the ferry. Booking the ticket online (and you have to print it yourself and take with you of course) saves you time of standing in line for buying tickets. But it does not save you from standing in the line to get on the ferry :-) read more
For such a short ride over to Texel (about 20 minutes) there are some pretty extensive services on this boat. There is a restaurant, bathrooms, loads of spaces both inside and outside to sit, and even Texel beer. The ride itself is nice and you can watch the seagulls chase the boat after it sets off. read more
