As an American, going to a new grocery store in the UK was so fun! I loved seeing all of the different snacks, treats, and groceries. These juices below are so delicious! I bought like 6 just for my trip to have something to drink. My second favorite thing was the Battenberg cakes. I probably do most of my shopping here. It is a huge store and they have a big selection of non food items and probably the biggest clothing department for miles around (There is a whole non food Tesco in Southampton city centre now though). This tesco, starngely does not have any self serve tills, only cashier operated ones. It is a busy supermarket but the queues are much better than for instance ASDA in Fratton. This store has an opticians and a pharmacy and one of the best things is that it also has a tesco Direct collection point so you can order things from their website and pick them up a few days later and avoid the usual delivery charge (though there is a £20 minimum spend for this). There is also a Petrol station on site and the prices seems consistent with those in this area (usually I notice they are 1p deaer a litre). There are usually people offering a hand car wash so you can have this done whilst you shop. There is also a huge recycling machine which gives you points for recycling. There was recently a newspaper story about a couple who flew business class from the USA thanks to collecting bottles and cans in the run up to their wedding to pay for a dream trip. read more

This is a large Tesco store with 24 hour opening (except Sundays). It has a large non-food section, and clothing section as well as a pharmacy and opticians. The selection of food is huge too, and includes a cooked chicken counter and fish counter. There is a large car park with cash points and recycling facilities, and a petrol station with a car wash. The store can get really busy, particularly in the run up to holidays and on pay day! There are a lot of checkouts, but be prepared to queue at busy times. When I made a special visit to this store last Christmas I was very disappointed. The stock levels were quite low and for such a big store I wasn't hugely impressed with their food availability. Plus points included the fact that here was ample parking, and as I was able to visit late evening the store was not overly busy, however the clothing section was poorly laid out in my opinion. I believe fans of Tesco will find this store much better than the smaller city centre branch however I still prefer shopping in other supermarkets. read more

My wife and I shop regularly at Tesco in Clement Attlee Way in Portsmouth. The shop provides everything we need and all our purchased products are of good value and excellent quality. Unfortunately of late we have been experiencing difficulty because of the number of Tesco personnel doing on line shopping for click and collect and also the number of personnel putting out stock at the same time. Surely it is not a good time to click and collect shop and putting out when the other regular customers are there at a busy time of day. I note that other Super Markets employ their on line staff and putters out in the quiet periods or in the silent hours - can Tesco do this also ??? read more

a great store, probably the largest in portsmouth after asda in waterlooville. Offers a wide range of facilities including recycling on site and a petrol station. beware though, being so close to port solent means that this store can get really busy at weekends and early evening, so be prepared for some trolley wars! They have improved a lot recently with stock, fruit and veg seems better organised. read more

Shopping in Tesco's is convenient for me and it's near the motorway and main travel routes (even the buses go past it). It has a handy petrol station, car wash, and hand-valeters too. There is a recycling bank which gives you Tesco Clubcard points (although they no longer give points for glass bottles, which is a shame!). Also you can chill out after your shopping in Costa Coffee or Krispy Kreme's. Tesco has a very handy pharmacy, which is also open late - excellent for people who cannot always get to a daytime pharmacy. They will process prescriptions for people living in the area. They also have Tesco Direct and a photo processing centre. They sell a good selection of clothes and seem to always have clothes in the sale selection, which is kept tidy. Changing rooms are surprisingly roomy too. Offers are easy to find, although the cheaper wines seem to sell out extremely quickly, so go earlier in the day for those! read more
