The problem I have with the Tesco Express in Chapel Allerton is that it makes me forget I'm actually in a petrol station shop. Granted, it's a Tesco petrol station shop, but when you get down to it the place isn't actually much bigger than your average Shell store. And yet, I manage to come away from there feeling a little annoyed that they didn't have the particular kind of sliced fresh bread I was after.
That is, surely, a testament to how well stocked the place is. It has fresh baked goods, veg, snacks, a strong range of chilled (tasty!) ready meals and meats, magazines and newspapers, a freezer section and a decent amount of dry and canned goods. Yes, I said fresh baked goods. Yes, a petrol station with fresh brownies! Basically, there's enough there to fool you into thinking you're in a proper (if very compact) supermarket, which is no bad thing.
In terms of petrol, the pricing is fair while the number of pumps ensures that you rarely have to wait more than a minute or two to fill up.
All in all, I'm very glad Tesco Express is in easy reach of my house. read more
